Hi it's my first international flight and I'm a bit worried because I have two first names, "Mary Elizabeth". But my aunt's boss who booked for me at JetStar Airlines only placed "Mary" and my surname. Will be there be any problems on that? I told her that the name on the ticket and passport must match for international flights but she insisted that there won't be a problem with that. I'm going to japan, from london, with a connecting flight at seoul in korea to fukuoka. This has a a time of 1 hour and 20 minutes between it. I was wondering if my bags would be transferred, or if I would have to go collect my bags, then re-check in, blah blah blah. Its all with "korean air". Then, on the way back I have an early morning flight from tokyo to seoul, then back to london. This has a time between them of about 3 and a half hours. I have several questions. First, For international flights from Tokyo (Narita), how many hours in advance must I be there for check in + baggage? Second, with the transfer, would they transfer my bags or would I have to go through the whole get bags, re-check in etc, if so, Ahh? (already said earlier!) Thirdly, any general info I should know of about the places and airports? I'm going off to Thailand to dive and master poi (fire dancing) my problem is the whole visa situation, apparently i can arrive in Thailand, they'll give me a visa and its valid till the end of the month. there after i have to leave the country, renew my visa and come back. the only problem with that is i have heard they've changed the return time for visa to 14 days before it must be renewed again, and i'm planning to be there until December. i can apply for a 3month visa here, but there are big issues with my air ticket being a return flight scheduled until December, which wouldn't be allowed with a 3month visa because they have to know what i am going to be doing during my stay. so to clarify here. is the Thailand visa once renewed only valid for 14days and what do you think i can do. i'm leaving the 30th march so i must act quickly more

In an upcoming connecting flight to Brazil, I will be flying nashville to houston. and then from houston to brazil on continental. i know that my carry on suitcase is within size restrictions (i measured) , but have been told the first plane is small with minimal space in the overhead compartment. i was told by a family member that rather than boarding the plane and realizing my bag won't fit and having to bug a flight attendant while everyone is trying to board, once boarding began and the airport person took my ticket from me, i should tell them i needed a bag tag because i didn't think my bag would fit in the overhead compartment. they would put a blue tag on the bag and give me part of it which i would hold on to myself. i would then leave the bag at the end of the jetway and board the plane with my personal item. then, i would pick up the bag in the jetway again when i got off the plane. is this true and who exactly do i tell that i need to do this? and what exactly should i say so they understand this is the process i am talking about? (not cheking the bag to be picked up at the baggage claim...which i think is called gate checking). anyone else do this? more

Last weekend I spent the night at my husband’s house because we live separated because we had broken up for over a year due to his verbal abuse. When I woke up in the morning I notice that he wasn’t in the room so I went to the kitchen and I heard him talking to his ex wife outside of the house-who by the way I do get along with. Together they both have a 27 years old daughter who is married, and has two kids. I am his third marriage. The problem was that I heard him tell his 1st ex that I got to understand that he has daughters and that he can’t be spending all his time with me - never mention that to me before. He was telling her that I sometime stay there with him and that it was "madness" and then he laughs. He was also comparing me to his second wife who he has 2 daughters with, and saying that I am a very jealous person and that his 2nd ex wasn’t (He was telling his 1st ex that). I heard him offer to pay for his 1st ex’s air flight ticket to have her visit their daughter. He hardly ever does any thing for me and I have pretty much supported myself since I married him. Should he really be do that and should they even be talking being that the daughter is an adult and has two kids of her own, and married? He pays child support for the two young daughers and sends extra money even after child support to his daughers, and even to his married daugher. I guess what gets to me is that he is always telling me that he is broke, and expects me to pay for our dinner when we go out to eat..... Resolved Question: Will I need to recheck my bag for multiple international layovers?

I will be flying from San Antonio to Kathmandu soon, making 4 stops using 4 different airlines. Two of the airlines I believe are affiliates (Jet Airways and Air India). I fly from San Antonio to Dallas on American Airlines. Next I fly from Dallas to Toronto on Air Canada. Then from Toronto to Heathrow on Air India. That same plane will take me on to Delhi where I switch to a Jet Airways fight to Kathmandu. The average time between flights is about 3 to 3 and a half hours which I hope is enough. The change in Dallas however is only one hour and 45 minutes. Air India and Jet Airways assign seats at check-in so I'll likely be getting my tickets when I arrive in those airports. This is my first international flight and I'm not sure when, where, or if I'll need to re-check my baggage and it has me kind of worried as all of my gear for 6 months is in one checked bag. We live 2 miles from Tuscaloosa Regional KTCL, and we have 737s 757s and CRJs/ERJs that come in as charters several times a week usually. Would be neat to hear them. Also for whatever reason flightaware.com does not display the vast majority of the flights going in/out of KTCL. I live right on the G/S for RWY 22 (although most of the lager business jets or commercial jobs use the ILS on RWY 04) Another great use for the scanner is that the Blue Angels are coming to KTCL for the second year in a row this year. I’ve already bought tickets because last year there were over 150,000 people on Saturday. Last year it was great and they had some really good static displays. The C-17 Performance was excellent. It would be great to hear all of the planes and performers come in! But here is the kicker, what would be the range on the Sporty’s Air-Scan VII portable scanner. I live two miles to the airport the way the crow flies. Would I be able to hear transitions from my house? more

We are flying from Guatemala, connecting through Mexico City, connecting again in Frankfurt, arriving finally in Athens, Greece. We bought our tickets through Lufthansa, but they don´t fly out of Guatemala so they have us on Mexicana Airlines until we get to Mexico City and then we switch to Lufthansa to Frankfurt where they put us on Aegean Air fo the last leg. i'm 20 years old and never been on or near a plane in my life. this friday i'm flying out to california for a few weeks to see my boyfriend. he's paying for my tickets and i'm still not sure how thats going down probably mailed to me i'd assume. but my question is once i have to tickets what do i do once i get to the air port? how many bags can i have? do i have to have suitcases? what am i allowed and not allowed to take? where do i check in at? how do i know where to board my flight and when? etc. any help would be nice. thanks :) more

~OK ~My Husband and I are planing a trip from WA State to MI. We would like to go Some time in August or first week in September. We plan on bringing our two year old son with us (this will be his first time flying.) I'm 5'8 320 LBS my husband is 5'11 350 lbs. and I'm so worried that some one is going to pull us aside and tell us we need to buy extra seats. Or that were to fat to fly. ~I was hoping that our two year old son could sit in the middle and my husband and i on each side. Has anyone flown or know anyone who has flow that's around our size? ~How big is too big? or how fat is too fat? I have called the air lines. Most were so UN help full but Frontier seem to be the Nice's out off all. I want my family to fly its the fastest way to get there! ~I do not want to buy 5 tickets 2 for me 2 for my husband and then one for my son. I can't afford that! I have an open ticket (not confirmed) to Auckland from Muscat Oman via Emirates. I have two transits. Dubai and Australia. I just tried to check in earlier and the check in guy said id need a transit visa for Australia (if in case something bad happens). So i was shocked. I had to go home and http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/transit/no-visa.htm says... When a visa is not needed Some travelers do not need a transit visa if they: •depart Australia by air within 8 hours of the scheduled time of their arrival and •hold confirmed onward booking and documentation necessary to enter the country of their destination and •remain in the transit lounge at an airport. Now, I'm confused, I want to go to Auckland asap. I won't even change aircrafts, it's a continuing flight. So why is this guy saying id need a transit visa? more

I'm in my 20's and completely outraged at the moment, but maybe I'm just being naive, so please help me out. Here is my situation: I booked a trip to Las Vegas months ago with Air Canada and paid $314.32 on my credit card for a return flight. I cancelled a week later and was told they can't refund anything, but that amount will be a "credit". I call back a few days ago to book a 1 way ticket to Halifax. I'm told I will be charged $105 "change fees" ($50 each way) for cancelling/re-booking my flight. I notice this is not deducted from the $314.32 I already paid, but charged on top of that, so I now have $419.32 on my credit card. The $105 is an obvious cash grab and a sort of penalty, so I put that aside. My issue is my flight to Halifax cost $202 including all taxes. So if you deduct $202 from the $314.32, that leaves $112.32 unaccounted for. Does this make sense so far? Because when I was on the phone with Air Canada asking them to confirm this, they couldn't. The agent just kept repeating that fares and taxes are different blah blah, but wouldn't tell me what, if anything I have left on my "credit". I kept asking him to explain, but he was very rude and said he already did. So I'm wondering: 1. Do most airlines charges these stupid "change fees" and if so, are they usually charged ON TOP of what you already paid and not taken from a credit already on file 2. Do my calculations make sense? Why couldn't the agent tell me what, if anything was left? 3. Do you have any tips for dealing with this? I got so frustrated with the agent I was speaking with I had to hang up.. Voting Question: How can i find cheap flights?!!! From Toronto to Bari, Italy.?

I want to leave on the 11th and come home on the 18th... The cheapest flight i have found so far was Air Canada $1269, which is not so cheap. Anyone know where to find cheaper flights? I want my flight ticket to get me there and home, so roundabout. more
