Open Question: American Airlines ruined my luggage. What can I do about this?
I just got back from a trip to Europe yesterday and it was a flight from Paris to Toronto with a connection in Chicago where I had to re-check my baggage. When I got it in Chicago, there were holes burned into the top of my suitcase, there were tears and the seams looked like they were pulled apart. It was covered in black grime and the whole outside was frayed. This suitcase was almost brand new and had been used on only one or two trips before. In addition to this, THE GLASS I had bubble wrapped, wrapped in newspaper and stuffed in the middle of sweaters was all shattered. I was so dissapointed that all my souvenirs had been ruined. Unfortunately I had to catch the connecting flight and didn't have the time to go talk to the representative at that point. We also arrived in Toronto at 2am so there was no time then either. I know American Airlines is crappy but they can't just ruin my poor stuff :( moreOpen Question: Questions from a first time traveller?

I need to get from Rochester, New York to Paris, France. I checked out American Airlines and the route they offer is Rochester with a connection in Chicago then Chicago to Paris. But why on earth would I want to go all the way to Chicago (going backwards, away from the direction I want to go), when I can just go to JFK or LaGuardia, or Boston, both of which are closer to Rochester and both have direct flights to Paris? It just doesn't make sense to me and it adds so much more time to the flight hours. So if I was to book an AA flight from Rochester to JFK, and then an AA flight from JFK to Paris on the same days, would AA recognize that as a connection and would they transfer my bags to the main flight? What if I wanted to go with Jet Blue since it's cheaper, would they transfer my bags to another airline? moreVoting Question: What is the most prestigious airlines to fly? I'm just curious.?
I looked at the skytrax ratings and found the ones that got 5 stars but I don't think that necessarily means they are prestigious. Which one has the best first and business class and if you fly first do they chaperon you through the airport because in New Delhi the first class for American airlines did and it was nice. What is the star club (or something like that) and what exactly is the admirals club? What is a concierge key and how do you get in? How many mileage points do you need to get into the most prestigious club (and which one is it)? Basically in which airline do you get treated like a King and how is their service in the airports? This is for my interest and also i'm trying to put together an experience project for school but websites weren't really usefull for me because they were not very detailed and there wasn't enough info. It would be very useful if you have any first hand experience also. And why are air hostesses always good looking and how much do they get paid? Isn't it hard for them and what about maternity leave? When do pilots go home? Do they get vacation? Oh and I mostly looking for international flight info. Thanks moreVoting Question: Bag allowances questions.. please help?
I've never been on a flight before. I'm traveling to Syria next month. I'm flying from BWI to Chicago with American Airlines and I have a 3 hour layover there. Then I'm flying with Turkish airlines From Chicago to Istanbul and then from Istanbul to Damascus. I have a 6 hour layover in Istanbul. I looked at American Airlines website and I also called. They said they have an agreement with turkish airlines so I can check by bags to the final destination. So does that mean I can check them on at BWI and then don't have to worry about them until I get to Damascus? I am flying international but since I have a layover in chicago will I have to pay for my bags? thanks moreResolved Question: Are there any North American airlines that don't charge for checked bags?

I have one stop in california, then it goes outside of the U.S. I am flying with American Airlines and it seems that I can only check in online if it does not include an international flight. I need to go to the UK in May but the prices to get there are just outrageous, especially on the big carriers like American, British, Continental, etc. Even the prices on Tuesdays which are usually the cheapest days, the average price seems to be way over $450 per person. Apparently there's charter airlines that go between Canada and the UK for really low fares but I live too far from any major Canadian city to make it worthwhile to drive there. Are there ANY charter airlines between the US and UK with decent prices? I've asked P&S now I'll ask the Gov. section. An ex Navy F4 pilot who worked at the Pentagon(Charles Burden Gain or at least I think that's how you pronounce his name) was also present at the simulation. The ex pilot then retired from the Pentagon and began a job working for Boeing. THEN less than a year later the plane he flew allegedly crashed into the building. April 2001- NORAD planned the 2nd exercise which would simulate a plane crashing into the Pentagon but was rejected as "Too Unrealistic". July 4th 2001- Osama Bin Laden received medical attention at the American Hospital in Dubai where he was visited by a local Chief of the CIA. July 24 2001- Larry Silverstein, who already owned WTC 7, signed a $3.2 Billion lease on the entire World Trade Center, 6 weeks before 9/11. I will be flying from San Antonio to Kathmandu soon, making 4 stops using 4 different airlines. Two of the airlines I believe are affiliates (Jet Airways and Air India). I fly from San Antonio to Dallas on American Airlines. Next I fly from Dallas to Toronto on Air Canada. Then from Toronto to Heathrow on Air India. That same plane will take me on to Delhi where I switch to a Jet Airways fight to Kathmandu. The average time between flights is about 3 to 3 and a half hours which I hope is enough. The change in Dallas however is only one hour and 45 minutes. Air India and Jet Airways assign seats at check-in so I'll likely be getting my tickets when I arrive in those airports. This is my first international flight and I'm not sure when, where, or if I'll need to re-check my baggage and it has me kind of worried as all of my gear for 6 months is in one checked bag. Any help or advice I would greatly appreciate. Thanks! Also, do you think I'll be able to check my bag to my destination? moreResolved Question: How can I track a flight from american airlines that my friend is flying on from NYC, USA to London, england?

Reviews please?
I am thinking of choosing American Airlines for my flight to Seattle in October. They seem to be the most reasonable and there is only one stop as opposed to two stops with other airlines. I was talking with my mother last night and she flew with them about ten years ago and found the service disgusting and the plane scruffy. The pilot refused to fly the plane and instead of changing planes they changed pilots. This caused massive uproar with the passengers and my mother vowed never to use them again. As this was a long time ago and only one flight out of hundreds she has taken she told me not to take this as gospel. So... anyone used American Airlines recently? Was the plane scruffy and likely to fall out of the sky? How was the service? Personal experiences please. Go. moreResolved Question: 14 Years old, becoming an airline pilot?
Hi. I am 14 years old, currently living in Athens, Greece but I have dual citizenship (Greek and American) and I am leaving on this July to start high school there (I have my Uncle, Aunt and my cousins there in Philadelphia) and I am still waiting for confirmation from them but my other option is to go to a boarding school. Once I get there, I am going to join ATP flying school in Trenton, New Jersey. I am going to get my Private Pilot License (PPL), Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Multi-Engine Rating, and then I will become a Flight Instructor to add more hours to my logbook. After I gather enough hours for my ATPL I will get it. Then I am going to go to College for a 4 year degree on something else than aviation - I have read that major U.S. airlines just want the college degree - probably engineering, so I can have a second opportunity for a job just in case. That is my plan, I need you to tell me if all of this is correct and if I am on the right path. Thanks, AlexThank you all for your answers, I will keep them in mind. Any recommendations for other flight schools near the Philadelphia area? moreResolved Question: What type of seat belt extender for Canadair Regional Jet Bombardier CRJ 700?
