ATP= Is a flight school that excels in elite airline pilot training. I was wondering if I could get an intro flight from them. I know I can't register for program until 18, but I just want to take an introduction or discovery flight.
moreResolved Question: 14 Years old, becoming an airline pilot?
Hi. I am 14 years old, currently living in Athens, Greece but I have dual citizenship (Greek and American) and I am leaving on this July to start high school there (I have my Uncle, Aunt and my cousins there in Philadelphia) and I am still waiting for confirmation from them but my other option is to go to a boarding school. Once I get there, I am going to join ATP flying school in Trenton, New Jersey. I am going to get my Private Pilot License (PPL), Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Multi-Engine Rating, and then I will become a Flight Instructor to add more hours to my logbook. After I gather enough hours for my ATPL I will get it. Then I am going to go to College for a 4 year degree on something else than aviation - I have read that major U.S. airlines just want the college degree - probably engineering, so I can have a second opportunity for a job just in case.
That is my plan, I need you to tell me if all of this is correct and if I am on the right path.
Thanks,
AlexThank you all for your answers, I will keep them in mind. Any recommendations for other flight schools near the Philadelphia area?
moreResolved Question: Thinking about a Becoming a Pilot?
I really want to become a pilot. I am currently living in Houston and attending University of Houston for a communications major. But I really want to become a pilot. My question is, can anyone help me gain some information?
I am currently looking at ATP pilot aviation school... or San Jacinto school through Delta Airlines. Which one would be better? Which one sets me up for success in becoming a prefessional commercial pilot?
Are there any there any other suggestions for schools that are better? Also, I need to consider money. Are there any cheaper schools that set you up just as well as the ones that cost 50k? Should I wait until I am done with college (two years) to start learning or start now?
What can I really expect, on obtaining a job? Will it be impossible after I become a flight instructor and rank up to 1500 flight horus with at least 200 on a multi-engine?
Can I really expect 20k in salary or will I be able to work my way up?
Any help and advice is greatly appreciated!
moreResolved Question: Cheapest locations for flight training?
I am a Nigerian citizen currently studying at university in england but my ultimate goal is to be a pilot, as you might know its quite expensive. So i would like to kno if anyone could actually suggest countries where i could get good training for a quite modest amount as england is way at more than i can afford.I would like to know the right ways to choose a flight school, also even if i get to training at a flight school i can afford, if i end up having to work in another country lets say america or even england. Would the conversion of the license be hectic, if lets say i trained in South africa. Also, in choosing a flight school, i would want it to be from a country respected for their pilot training( not one where i have to struggle to find work after i have concluded it and spent a lot of money).
(Note: I'm interested in an airline career, which would require an
additional license, the ATP.)
I've discovered that getting my training abroad is a much cheaper
alternative, depending on the country. Factors include the local
economy (i.e., general cost of anything), local demand for pilots
(e.g., Australia is only developed on its coast, so people prefer to
fly across the outback rather than drive through it).
I'm able to pick languages up reasonably quickly, so
training in a non-English-speaking country is likely not a problem
either. In other words, I don't think I have any real restrictions in
terms of where I can study. My only restriction is that I'd like to
complete my training within a two-year timeframe, this rules out "aviation colleges" with
four-year degree programs.
So my question is: Given that I'm willing to travel almost anywhere in
the world, what are my cheapest options full pilot training from 0 - ATPL(Frozen)?
Researcher beware, the answer to this
question will require a few hours of research incorporating a variety
of sources. I hope the background information and example countries
I've provided serve as a sufficient basis to start from.
Thanks in advance for your time and effort!thanks for your response, sori i put my words wrong. I know it would be expensive anywhere i decide to do it, but what i actually meant was the cheapest of any location responding to Patriotgal. I have actually checked locations Such as S.A,usa, canada and so on
and to respond to Russia, i have definately done a lot of research into countries such as australia, south africa, new zealand and so on. But as you might know, some of this flight schools make every thing sound so easy, so my reason for my question was actually to see if i could talk to someone with some kind of experience doing it. From my research i can say S.A is the cheapest but there again there could be some form of discrimination from where you obtain your license.( probably because they think the aviation body of the country isnt credible enough)..As we regards to the research,i apologize for that. I gt it of an article i read on google answers which got sum very good response.i am 19 so i'm still quite confused.thanks
moreResolved Question: Local FBO or Popular Flight Schools?
I'm looking for a flight school that can give me the ratings/certificates that i need to become a professional pilot.
There's a local FBO near my house and it is really a decent flight school. Here's the website www.atdflightsystems.com
There's also some popular flight school that i wanted to go into.
1. ATP
2. Phoenix East
3. Delta Connection
My question is where should I go and do my flight training?
My local FBO can give me all of my ratings/certificates that I need to be a professional pilot in a low fix price of 30+k....
Thank You.
moreResolved Question: I need help finding a good flight school?
I have done research and from what I have found is all flight schools are over priced, but I want to fly. I have looked at ATP, Delta Connections Academy, Jet U, and Embry-Riddle. I want to find the best a school that gives me the best bang for my buck. I don't think I'll be getting into Embry, because it is too expensive and they require four years of high school math, I only had to take three, and that is all I took. I have read numerous negative thing about Jet U, and Delta makes you be an instructor for them for a year before you can be hired by any airline. ATP has a program with GulfStream and its pretty nice. The only thing is I want to try to get into an ERJ or CRJ, not a prop. I would fly a prop, and it would be nice but it just wouldn't work out that well in the long run (financially speaking, RJ's pay a tad better).
I'm also going to try to get a degree at the same time, so here is my main question.
What flight school (out of what I listed, or other that I did not list) is the best school for the money AND what are my options in terms in college, do they have degrees, are they affiliated with any schools, and are there any online courses I could take?
Thanks to all that answer.

Hey I'm in a little sticky situation and was just wondering which way would be the best... seriously ?
alittle about myself : I am 19 and ever since I can remember I wanted to fly for a major airline but recently my family is unable to provide me the neccessary funds for a FO program at a academy, so I was thinking about joining the Airforce for an associates degree and as a boom operator, or flight engineer dont know which is better and which one would make me more competitive among others when applying for a regional airline job, I dont have a US citizenship yet I was thinking about applying for it in the service, but have a green card and graduated hight school being in a JROTC Army academy, and after completing the degree and job within the airforce I was thinking of going to ATP flight school and use all of my GI bill there, I have no other options and money on anything else :( please give me as much info as you can I am out of options and time does not stop for anyone.

I have plenty of hours and work in the aviation industry but am looking to finally get it over with and obtain my license. moreResolved Question: Can a Kid With Cerebral Palsy Become an Airman?
Hopefully, the AME's and flight examiners will comment. Is it possible for a kid with cerebral palsy to get his medical and earn certificates and ratings through ATP? Is cerebral palsy an automatic disqualification? Does anyone know any pilot with CP? What certificates and ratings do they hold?
I know a kid with cerebral palsy who does chores for rides. He has some difficulty walking and some minor involvement with his hands. Also, I believe a muscle imbalance in his eyes has resulted in monocular vision. He is of normal intelligence and healthy as an ox. He makes all A's in school and I believe he could pass his written with his eyes closed.
He is obsessed with airplanes and has flown with me from the right side. What is amazing is he has a surprisingly relaxed gentle touch and feel for the airplane. His directional control, altitude control and situational awareness shocked me. He was well in front of the airplane.
Could the AME sign-off such an applicant for a medical/student pilot certificate? Would this preclude the 2nd and 1st class medicals? Further, what would the examiner say when faced with such an applicant? Would there be a grueling series of expensive medical evaluations, as with the individual with chronic disease, or simply a matter of demonstrating proficiency? Thanks Jimmbbo for the part 67 reference. He has presented me with the very FAR you cite and argues that he falls under none of the exclusions found in FAR 67.109. In fact, FAR 67.109 appears to reinforce his view that CP is not a disqualifying disability. I wonder if it would be best to research an AME who has already signed-off an airman with CP.
I believe cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder, but it is very stable, without disturbance of consciousness or seizures. It happens once, at birth. In his view, there really aren't any tests to perform. It doesn't get better, or worse.
In the case of this aspiring airman, he would need no adaptive modifications to the airplane. In some way, the muscular spasticity seems to disappear when he has the airplane. If it is only a matter of demonstration of proficiency, he has his ticket in the bag and CFI's will give him hours in the airplane. What he needs is an AME experienced in CP who might sign him off. Thanks Cherokeeflyer for your very interesting links. Techwing, why should the medical requirements, flight testing and hiring be any more stringent for the individual with cerebral palsy able to demonstrate flying proficiency? That would appear to be discriminatory against persons with disabilities.
moreResolved Question: Why is there a sudden rash of 9/11 conspiracy theories involving Bush?
I actully saw one of the 9/11 pilots at the flying school where I was taking flying lessons in the summer of 2000. It was Hani Hanjour, the one who flew into the Pentagon.
He flew the same Cessna I flew, and he flew with the same instructor I did.
He already had his commercial license in 2000, so that came from the Clinton admin, not Bush.
My instructor had to fail him, and you should have seen the fit he threw.
He could fly, but he could not speak English well enough to communicate with the control tower. That's why he could get a private pilot's license, but he could not get an ATP rating. He should not have even had a commercial ticket.
Eventually he bribed a flying school somewhere and got his ATP rating in spite of his chronic inability to speak English clearly. He was one of those guys who spoke with a thick accent. You could understand him if you concentrated on him, but if you broke concentration for an instant his speech turned to gibberish.
I know for a fact that he was reported to the FAA five times on Clinton's watch.
So if Bush/Cheney report that 9/11 was an inside job, then it would be an inside job by the Clinton administration.
And I would believe it.
Hitting the Pentagon the way he did was child's play. He just flew toward a window on the third floor and flew into it. Any student pilot can do that.
That's why he didn't hit the grass. He did not put the wheels down, he flew into the building at full speed.
Look up the information on Hani Hanjour. He did most of his flight training on Clinton's watch, and he got his commercial license then.
If all this happened before Bush was even elected, how could Bush have been involved in any 9/11 conspiracy?Howard, isn't it time for your meds?
Do you actually think you can lie to me about what I saw with my own eyes and heard with my own ears?
I know Hani Hanjour was real. I saw him first hand. Game over.

moreResolved Question: pilot training courses in the US and UK?
im in my last year of school at the moment and looking forward to leaving, ideally i would love a career in aviation, but im unaware of the costs/expectation/requirements etc so im just after abit on information basically.
1) I have asked many people this and i understand its very hard to give a straight answer as it does depend on the individual in question, however does anyone know the average cost or and estimated cost as to how much the private pilot rating, instrument rating, Commercial (complex twins etc) and after that the airliner training is? i have found that commercial training in the UK is roughly £80000 but ive heard that in the US it can be as little as £50000 is this true?
2) The medical (class 3 medical): im only worried that i will pass everything on this test except for the eyesight test as i understand many people are not eligible for licensing as their eyesight is not up to standards. as it stands i have to wear either glasses or contact lenses and with those in my range of sight it very far, so is it possible to fly with either lenses or glasses? what are the regulations with regards to laser correction?
3) Are there many courses that allow you to start from scratch and work your way up? i.e. to go there with no licensing whatsoever, and then obtain you ppl and all other licensing up to frozen ATP standards?
4)Which countries allow you to obtain a license that can be used elsewhere? i am from zimbabwe and apparently the Zimbabwean pilots license does not qualify in the UK although pilots of air zimbabwe are allowed to fly to the UK
5)Are there any flight schools or routes that you can suggest in either of the countries? in the UK there are universities that offer courses that allow you to obtain a ppl and all other ratings up to and including the frozen ATPL but im not aware of any in the US.
thanks for your time

Hi. I am 18 years old and I want to be an airline pilot. I graduated from high school in May of 2009. I am currently enrolled in Lewis University's flight program --> http://www.lewisu.edu/academics/aviation/flight-management/index.htm Please browse around and check out their flight program. I will be a freshman in the fall.
Is this a good way to go about it? I have read good things about Lewis. Can anyone confirm? Will getting a degree in aviation as opposed to another degree help me get a job as an airline pilot? Also, I notice that they dont offer ATP certificate. Do I need to get it after I get my degree? Where do most airline pilots get theirs? Lewis also offers degrees in ATC and aircraft maintenance. I live in IL, USA. Thanks guys and happy flying!!

I am a senior in HS who wants to be an ATP. However I am very confused on how to plan for college. Some people say that a college degree in something like Flight technology would be best, while others say to avoid doing that because of the unpredictability of the industry. So, I have never found out- Are there any benefits to going to a university like Embry Riddle compared to just going to a regular flight school?
Any graduates of ERAU or pilots that have a first hand on this?

moreResolved Question: Would it be worth paying the money to go to flight school, like delta connection academy or atp?
I am seriously thinking about going to a flight school. I know these schools come with a hefty price tag, and I'm not sure if it's really worth it. I don't have a private pilots license, but about 20 hrs behind the yoke. Delta connection academy "guarantees" you an interview with an airline upon graduation. With today's economy and ever rocky airline industry I'm a little worried about finding a job after graduating. While ATP doesn't guarantee you an interview they post all recent hires on the web site, and it looks like it usually take them about 8 months to find a job. Also how long would it take for me to get promoted to captain.
moreResolved Question: Who'd my plan to be an airline pilot be a good idea?
Well, I'm 15 and turning 16 this October. I already told my parents my chosen career which is to be an airline pilot that's why they will send me to flight training on March 2010 (PPL) so, I'm in 3rd Year High School and I'll have my PPL on October 2010.
So, thenafter, I'm getting my IRL (Instrument Rating License) on March 2011. After that, I'll be in College then and will be taking BS Nursing. I'm taking this because if ever I will fail in my 1st chosen career, I have an alternative career which is in the medical field.
After that, while I'm in college, I'll be taking my CPL once in a while every weekends and after school and when I'm done with CPL, I'll take the Multiple Engine License. This means I'll be having my 4 licenses at the age of 21. After that, I'll be instructing and of course have to get the license for that so I am doing something when I still don't have the ATP. Once I get the hours and the ATP, I'll be applying in a regional airline and work my way up to the major.
Will this work? And if you have any suggestions, please tell me, I need it and will be thankful for it.
Anyways, my added plan is, if I still don't get hired in a Regional Airline by the age of 30, I might just practice my Nursing degree and just keep on waiting. I don't know, but if this is right, just tell me.
Thanks and more power to us!
moreResolved Question: how can ex-military pilots become airline pilots?
in a few years i will be trying to attend ERAU and join their AFROTC to pay for school and hopefully earn a flight slot since i hear the ERAU campus in AZ has the best chances for flight slots only 2nd to the USAFA
i know that pilots that take normal flight school earn their ppl than their cpl and both their ratings something during this and one day their atp. i know that they log their hours into a logbook for the purposes of countings hours.
What im asking is how does this work for military pilots? When a ex-military pilot retires from like the AF do they have to earn a ppl cpl and ratings, for example if they didnt have pilot experience before being set up with a pilot slot which i hear happens a lot. Also how do military pilots count their hours? Do they also log their hours into a log book for the purposes that after they graduate they will try to set themselves with an airline job?
i was told that retired pilots have to earn ALL they licences from PPL to ATP even though they might have logged in over 5k+ hours
any info on this subject would be nice thank you

moreResolved Question: Is this a good plan to become a airline pilot?
I've been asking a lot of questions lately. but I've finally composed a plan to become a airline pilot.
When I'm 16/17ish I plan to go for my private, then get my multi engine and fly at least once a week to help build hours.
When I'm 18 I will get my Commercial and continue to build hours by just flying- Touch and go's etc.
Then I plan to get some random job making money.
When I'm 23 I get my ATP written and build more hours and go with A regional like American eagle, and take classes when ever i can to work on a four year college degree.
About 5 years later I will have a slew of Muilti engine, turbine engine time and then apply for a major airline.
Does that sound workable? Any changes that I should make?
Another thing, how many of you pros's make loans? What kind of general finical aid does flight school's offer?
And will being a eagle scout help me get hired? People say It will, but i argue different. And I plan to Get a CFI become a flight instructor and build hours that way.
How I plan to finance- Loans
And no, I'm doing this the civilian wayembry-riddle- No! Why go there when I can get everything a hell of a lot cheaper?
moreResolved Question: How do I get my FAA Pilots License re-issued when I am over-seas?
Hello All:
I am an FAA ATP Pilot who recently obtained my CE525 Type Rating. My situation put me in a class where my Temporary Airmen's Certificate is issued by the Designated Examiner with a "25 Hours Supervised Operating Experience Limitation." Recently, I surpassed this 25 hour requirement. If I was in The States I could easily go down to my local FSDO, present my logbook and they would issue me another temp airmen cert without the limitation. However, currently I am flying over-seas and I don't plan to come back to the United States for at least a year.
Does anyone out there with some serious aviation experience know if there is a place in the Middle East where I can find an FAA guy or gal to re-issue my temp airmen cert? I hear rumor that some of these flight schools over here conduct FAA training, they do FAA check rides and they issue FAA licenses - if this truly is the case (which is also part of my question) can they audit my logbook and re-issue my cert minus the limitation?
Thank you in advance for your considerable expertise, as a lot will be required to answer this one correctly.

moreResolved Question: Flight school disappeared?
I was looking into different flight schools a few months ago and there seemed to be two large schools that stood out from the rest. One of the schools was atp, the other was a large school I THINK had a location in UT and a few other locations throughout the west. I do believe that school had some diamond twins. What happened too it? I have been looking all over the web and havent been able to find there page again...
moreResolved Question: Good flight schools in Utah?
Im 16 and im OBSESSED with aviation. Its my life. I live by the airport (KCDC) and they have a school called the National Pilot Academy. I have been planning on going there for a long time. Does anybody know if it would be a good school or if somewhere else would be better? Im looking to get my PPL and ATP and hopefully fly for Southwest, fly cargo, or fly air tankers for fires. Speaking of flying air tankers, how many hours do you need to fly the air tankers and how much experience do you need? Thanks!!
moreResolved Question: What is a good pilot school for private rating all the way to commercial?? Curious about Jet U, ATP, & Falcon
Ive been trying to figure out what school I should go to for my private to commercial rating. Can anyone suggest any good schools?
I was looking at Jet University and from what Ive all ready seen is that people are no too fond of it. I was wondering why?
Also, I was looking at ATP Flight School. Although, their price is rather high like Jet's price. Is ATP worth their price?
I was also considering Falcon Flight school. They had a internship pilot career program. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this program and/or school?
Please let me know your thoughts on these schools and let me know if you have any recomendations in the way of Flight schools.
Thanks alot everyone!
moreResolved Question: I am wondering if I can become a pilot at the age of 12.?
I am a 12 year old male. I personally feel that the airline buisness isn't looking too bright in the future. It seems as if as things change so do airlines. I understand that i am young, but i am currently working towards earning my ATP certificate on Flight Simulator X. I have become a very experienced pilot using this game. I live in Nova Scotia and I am very mature, responsible, and smart for my age. This may seem a little like a silly question but do you think its possible that I, without a university degree would be able to, with a little extra help begin working towards flight training at such a young age? And maybe be an airline pilot at such a young age in a few years, maybe even just a small regional airline? If anybody knows if it is possible for me to do this, please say so, and if yes than do you know of any flight schools in Nova Scotia Or Canada? I feel i am the kind of good and gifted kid who can do this. Any help is great.
Thanks!
Your Pilot Wannabe, Scott
