Resolved Question: Are there ANY airlines that have flights from the USA to UK for under $350 a ticket per person?

I need to go to the UK in May but the prices to get there are just outrageous, especially on the big carriers like American, British, Continental, etc. Even the prices on Tuesdays which are usually the cheapest days, the average price seems to be way over $450 per person. Apparently there's charter airlines that go between Canada and the UK for really low fares but I live too far from any major Canadian city to make it worthwhile to drive there. Are there ANY charter airlines between the US and UK with decent prices? All the low cost one's like Fly Globe Span have gone under.I know that US Airways usually has decent rates, I've flown with them before to MAN but they're still asking over $450 for the flight I need with a connection to Philadelphia. more

Resolved Question: Is there something wrong with Indian girls?

I have recently come back to India after living in the west for 10 years (Namely, Australia and Canada) and I wonder if most Indian girls have some severe psychological problem - or is is just my imagination? Yesterday I was at an ice-cream parlor (in New Delhi) and there was this nice looking Indian girl standing next to me. I said hello - in return she gave me a grin. I tried to strike a conversation - nothing specific - I just asked her how her day had been - she didn't reply - she paid for her ice cream cone and rushed out of the store. This is just one incident - for the last one month it has happened with me everywhere - Airports, flights, game parlors. Men don't seem to have a problem but it is the girls who according to me, behave rudely. I am fairly social and sociable. I don't look ugly and I try to treat everyone with respect. I am very excited to be back in my country and back with my people but it seems like the girls have some sort of a problem. According to my friends, Indian girls have no social skills and think of every man as a cheap rode-side stalker. Also my friends have told me that most Indian girls are conditioned into thinking that sex is a bad thing and that they make lousy lovers. Is this true? I don't believe in stereotyping and I would like to think of these incidents as isolated cases, but many people have told me what I just wrote above Indian girls (and stereotypes do come from somewhere). I would appreciate if you can give me your opinion(s). I apologize in advance, should my question offend someone. Thank you for your answers in advance. :-)May I also add that I have made many friends this way all over the world. I talk to everyone - men and women alike. As many of you have said, I sound desperate - its true to a certain extent. I am too excited to be here and would like to meet all of the 1.2 billion people living in this sea of humanity. Except for these incidents, its all been great!@Salty Singh: Your answer is very balanced. Thanks for answering. I can understand that for an Indian girl, any kind of social interaction can be a big deal and its better to leave them alone or with their mothers. Are you on Indiamike.com by any chance? @cynicsoptimism: Great bolg. Don't worry - your days would turn too. @Dnut: You have reinforced the popular opinion by using the kind of language that you have. @ia: Your answer is good too as it is in line with popular opinion about Indian girls. more

Voting Question: Student, need cheap flight. Could a travel agent help me?

I'm a university student who is planning to visit my sister in western Canada in march. I need to book a flight, and it is important it is as cheap as possible. The dates are very flexible. I've been looking around and the best i've found is studentuniverse.com , but that site doesn't list the city i need to leave from (sydney, nova scotia). So if I went that route i assume i'd need to book another flight to get from sydney to halifax adn then back from halifax to sydney. I can't drive from syd to halifax because I don't have that much time to waste. My question is, should I bother talking to a travel agent about booking a flight (I don't need to rent a car or a hotel or anything complicated, i just need the cheapest flight available and any student discount thats possible). Would this help me or just end up costing me more, when the name of the game is cheap, cheap, cheap.I have tried expedia, and orbitz (whos format is great for flexible dates), and a bunch of other sites. Sudentuniverse.com has student discounts which are near half the price of those other sites. So I feel its possible to travel cheaper, I just have the problem with the city I live in not being on their site. I thought maybe a travel agent could look into student discounts for me? more

Resolved Question: Is 45 minutes in O'hare long enough to run between terminal 2 and 1?

Hi there, I was able to get a real cheap flight from Calgary (Canada) to New York. I have already purchased the ticket so I am not too concerned with people telling me 45 minutes is too short. What I want to know is if there is a way to get between terminal 2 and 1 without having to go through security again. I know from arriving internationally that you need to go through the procedure again but I am curious if there is a way between terminals without taking the train and if running, I can make it from terminal 2 to terminal 1 in 15 minutes or so. I know there are a ton of variables but if someone has done it I'd appreciate hearing about it. Thanks, CharlesHi there, I was able to get a real cheap flight from Calgary (Canada) to New York. Resolved Question: Thailand vs. Bali- cheaper flights (from Seoul) and cheaper accomodation?

Hi, I am planning a trip with my mom and her friend to either Thailand or Bali. I am coming from Seoul and they are coming from canada, through Hong Kong. We are looking at going the first week of April- so if i could leave march 31st on a red eye plane, and stay till April 6th and leave on the red eye as well. I want to know what are the cheapest ways to get a flight- round trip from Seoul. I dondintwant to be overrun with tourists either. A beach and a chance to do some hiking and interacting and checking out some local culture would be fanastic with a chance to hang out on a beach. What is a villa, and is that a better price then a hotel? more

Resolved Question: Around how much would this flight cost?

And I'd like the cheapest plane tickets I can get, because I have to save for it. Also, if I could get the source, so that I can keep track of the prices that would be great. more

Voting Question: What is the best way to travel USA and Toronto in 4 Weeks?

My partner and I are getting married in September and want to have our Honeymoon in December for 4 weeks. I really want to travel the west LA, San Diego, San Fransisco, Vegas, a nice island or beach in the west if we have time and maybe Seattle if we can get a reasonable flight. My partner wants to travel the East, Boston, New York, Jersey, Philidelphia. His dream is to have christmas in new york so we are going to work around that. We are also considered having a couple of days in Hawaii but don't know what the weather is that time of the year. How far is it to travel from New York or Boston over the border to Toronto? I was thinking we could fly into LA (cheapest place to fly into from Aus) Spend a week and a half in the west, fly to new york a week before christmas and explore the east (and canada if time permits) Spend Christmas New York and then fly back LA, perhaps then to Hawaii or other island in the west for a couple of days, back to LA and travel to Vegas for New Year and then fly back to Australia from LA. I know it is alot to fit in 4 weeks but we really want to make the most of this trip as we have been wanting to travel to the US for so long. Unfortunately we can't get more than 4 weeks off work so we have to work with what we've got. Any suggestions for an itinerary? Should we be doing things like Contiki tours or doing it on our own? What is the best way to travel the West and East? Bus, Rail? We don't really want to drive. more

Voting Question: I'm buying a kitten from a shelter. A few questions?

I'll be going to college next year. All my life I've wanted a cat, but my parents, though NOT allergic, hate cats. Therefore I've turned to other animals, and have had numerous dogs, birds, guinea pigs, and a horse over the years (I'll be taking my horse to college with me). Anyway. I'm going to be staying in an apartment with a roommate, because the college dorm is actually more expensive. The apartment allows cats, and since I've always wanted one, my parents agreed that I could buy a cat and keep it at our house during the summer and winter holiday. My roommate loves cats, too, and says she'd actually like to have a cat around the house, though she isn't willing to make the committment of buying one of her own. I'm buying one at the animal shelter and of course will have it vaccinated and neutered- I'll probably buy a shorthair. First off- any advice about handling the kitten when I first buy it? I want the cat to be friendly and affectionate, not shy and retreated. How should I go about encouraging friendly, outgoing behavior in my cat? Should I hold the cat often to get it used to being held? Also, I'm going to be traveling a fair amount with my cat- she'll be flying to and from Montreal, Canada- where my college is- and Michigan, my home. About a two-hour flight, and we'll be flying several times a year (the flights are relatively cheap). So when should I start flying with my cat to get her used to it? I had a small dog I also traveled with often- she just sat in my bag during the flight and only barked during takeoff and landing, because of the altitude change. I started flying with her at around 8 months- is this around the same as for a cat? Also, I've been thinking long and hard, and I think I want to adopt two kittens- a brother and sister from the same litter. I feel like this would help make the adjustment better and give them something to do while I'm gone at my college classes during the day. Plus, the more cats, the merrier! Is this a good idea? Any problems with it? (For instance- one cat not getting enough to eat because the other doesn't let them or something?) Last and final question: it's completely frivolous, but I wanted an opinion on names. Do you like the names Lily and Charles for them? Thanks!Yes, of course I'll have them neutered/spayed. Also, when I graduate, I plan to keep them...I'll be in grad school then, and intend to find another apartment which allows cats. Eventually when I buy my own house, of course I'll keep the cats. I know that pet-ownership isn't a short-term thing. more

Resolved Question: changing flight tickets toearlier date!? HELP PLZ.?

Resolved Question: Preparing for a trip to Pakistan and Afghanistan?

First of all, I'm not stupid. I have been researching these areas for years and I actually want to one day obtain a doctorate in Pakistan Studies from the University of Karachi, although I have no Pakistani or Muslim heritage. My heritage is actually French and English and I am Canadian. I'll be 19-years old when I go on this trip, that is if I go when I want to. Possibly coming with me is another will-be-nineteen when I go, if I do, female friend of mine who actually does have a Pakistani heritage but was not born there, has never been there, isn't Muslim, and is white. I want us to be prepared culturally for this trip particularly with clothing, being conservative countries. I was hoping I could get away with just a t-shirt and jeans, being male. I know I could get away with this in the major cities of Pakistan, but not sure if it is advisable in Kabul? What should a male foreigner wear in Kabul? As for my female friend, what should she wear? When we get off the plane, first in Karachi, we will probably be wearing regular clothes (she doesn't expose her legs even in Canada, so that's not a problem). I told her we'd likely get her a hijab and traditional clothing for women, without covering her face. But when would she need to cover her face? The only two mosques I want to see are Faisal Mosque in Islamabad and Badshahi Mosque in Lahore. We have no desire to enter them, just want to view them and take photos. Also with currency exchange, how does that work? I've only ever traveled to the United States and within Canada. How would we convert our money to Pakistani Rupees and to the Afghan currency? One more thing, is airfare actually really cheap within Pakistan for Westerners? I looked up an economy class flight from Islamabad back to Karachi via Pakistan International Airlines and it said 5, 500 Pakistan Rupees which converted is like $68 Canadian. more

Resolved Question: Why is it that?....................?

Why is it that some flights require a notarized parental consent while others don't. Well long story I pretty much feel like my parents just don't want me to live with them and my siblings. When I was 15 they sent me from Canada to Algeria and seperated me from the family. I have gone though alot over the past 2 years. I am now 17, and the only flights that I know of who let you travel without parental consent or anything at the age of 15 and up. Since I am 17 I do not need parental consent to fly using American Airlines, but the problem is when flying with American Air lines I have to fly from the UK to Chicago and from Chicago to Toronto. So I would need to fly from Algiers to the UK which is unfortunate because American Airlines does not have any flights from Algeria to the UK. So I would need to use British Airways. Has anybody flied using British Airways? Do they require a notarized parental consent. Can this be forged? {if they do require it} Also, when flying to the UK and from the UK to Chicago or New York, how are the US customs? How are the UK customs? Is there any easier way to Toronto? Perhaps cheaper flights and faster that let you travel at the age of 17 without any sort of parental consent? Thanks to all the Yahoo Answers CommunityAir Algiers goes direct to Montreal but they need notarized parental permission.I am travelling on my Canadian passport by the way more

Resolved Question: Where to find cheap flights to Asia?

What are your recommendations on how/where to get a cheap flight from Canada to Asia (specifically Taiwan)? When I was living in Hong Kong I found that buying airplane tickets was cheaper (e.g. I paid $1000CAD to an HK travel agent but would have had to pay $1200CAD if I bought from aircanada.ca). Also, now that I'm back in Canada, I can't buy tickets on the "foreign" sites with cheap prices - e.g. I have to buy from the American portal of www.priceline.com.hk. Resolved Question: flights to new york from London...have you ever?

done a non direct flight? the reason i ask is because i am taking my girlfriend there as a surprise at xmas. I have booked the hotel, but come to book the flights and they are 600 pounds each!!! they were 300 pounds a week ago. that's crazy. just for flights. However, if we go and stop off for 4 hours in Canada, they are about 200 pounds each cheaper. but instead, the flights will take 12 hours rather than 8. Has anyone done this? is it worth it to save money? or do you think maybe the flights may go down? thanks :) more

Resolved Question: how to get our guests to Cancun?

Now from Edmonton, i found flights and that hotel around $2000 CAD, BUT just for flights from Japan/Australia to Cancun its almost $1400, is there a way to get flights for around 1,000? Or a group rate for the flights? Or a group rate for the hotel? My family/friends are in Canada, and they think thats an awesome price, BUT my fiancees family/friends who are in Japan&Australia there not so found of that price, so we just want to cut their costs basically. Help?! Also if you know any all-inclusive resorts in cancun or mexico, that have a JAPANESE restaurant included, and can host weddings / receptions, please post links! Thanks! xoxo more

Resolved Question: A few questions about planning a Europe trip.?

I'm a 23 year old male from Saskatoon, Canada and I'm planning a solo trip to Europe in probably Feb. or March 2010. I'm thinking I'll probably go for 4 weeks and need some help with the initial planning stage. Here are a few questions I had (answers to one or all of the questions would be much appreciated): 1. How many cities should I be visiting for the 4 weeks? I don't want to spend too much time in one place or not enough. 2. How much should the flight be costing me from Saskatoon to Europe? I want the cheapest possible to any destination. So far the cheapest I've found is about $900 round trip - is this reasonable or can I get lower? 3. I'm not too worried about the overall cost, but what do you think would be the minimum budget for the overall trip? What would be the budget for a comfortable trip? 4. Finland - my cousin and his girlfriend live there so I have people to show me around and a place to stay. But I'm not sure if I want to go there. To me it doesn't seem as interesting as the rest of Europe. Don't get me wrong I hear it's an amazing place to live but how about to visit? They live in Jyväskylä I believe, which isn`t very close to Helsinki. Thanks in advance for any answers you can give me. more

Resolved Question: Flights, I need help, grandmothers husband and sister passed in a two week span.?

Hello, My grandfather, and now my Great Aunt have both passed within two weeks of each other, so as you can imagine my grandmother is a tragic wreck, I want to send her home to see her family, as I have just flown into canada just before my grandfathers passing and spent a month there, I can't really afford a big expensive flight, but all her family lives in the Usa, but unfortunately the other side of the country from me, I need a flight from edmonton to minneapolis leaving like tomarrow or saturday, for a span of 3 or four days, she just needs to be with her family, if anyone has any insight on where to get a really cheap flight, as I am a med student, I am running low on monetary funds as it is, so any assistance in finding a cheap flight is so greatful, aswell, I dont want her traveling alone as she would just get lost in those airports can i request a stewardess ensure she gets to her next flight, any insight is greatly appreciated. more

Resolved Question: Questions about the Grand Tour of Western Europe?

Hello, I am a Grade 12 student currently living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Myself and 3-4 other friends are planning on undertaking a backpacking Tour of Europe for approximately 3 weeks during the summer. From Canada we are to land in London and would like to visit: UK:London. France: Paris, Versailles, Marseilles, Monaco. Benelux: Antwerp, Brussels, Amsterdam. Germany: Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich. Switzerland: Bern, Zurich Questions: How long should we stay in each city? On a budget with a cheap flight, staying in hostels, and overnight trains, what would the total cost of 3 weeks in Western Europe be? We all are generally fluent in French, and some of us have been to Italy before, but are there any additional traveler's tips we need to know? Thank youp.s--Also, if anyone would like to add insight into must-see attractions in any of those cities, that would be much appreciated. more
