I need to get from Rochester, New York to Paris, France. I checked out American Airlines and the route they offer is Rochester with a connection in Chicago then Chicago to Paris. But why on earth would I want to go all the way to Chicago (going backwards, away from the direction I want to go), when I can just go to JFK or LaGuardia, or Boston, both of which are closer to Rochester and both have direct flights to Paris? It just doesn't make sense to me and it adds so much more time to the flight hours. So if I was to book an AA flight from Rochester to JFK, and then an AA flight from JFK to Paris on the same days, would AA recognize that as a connection and would they transfer my bags to the main flight? What if I wanted to go with Jet Blue since it's cheaper, would they transfer my bags to another airline? more

So me and some friends are thinking of going to Nice in France in the summer because we've found this really good hostel there and seen some cheap flights we can get so will probably book all that by tomorrow. I am a 26 year old man, i have a pretty good family who love me. I have a good career that i worked hard to get into but now im always in trouble. I cant seem to stay out of trouble at work for one thing or another. im very forgetful, my admin is terrible and i always fall out with my seniors. the work thing is really really getting me down. On top of that my life at home is really bad at the mo. its all down to me, i am a terrible liar, i lie about everything. i dont know why i do it but it gets me into all sorts of trouble. relationships with girlfriends my friends, with family, work mates everyone. i cant help it. i think its because i hate my life so much i need it to sound better to people. On top of that i cant stop stealing...im crying as i write this because seeing everything i am in writing is so upsetting to me, how did i turn into this person? you may not believe this but i stole from my brother, he has special needs and receives money from the government as he finds it difficult to do things and would struggle to find a job. i have stolen alot of money from him out of his bank account and i feel absolutely awful. i have conned him into lending me money as well, i pay him back but its the way i go about asking for it. he doesn't understand the way the world works sometimes and i use that to borrow money or take money from him....i know you must now think im a monster, well your right, i am...... One time i stole from him was when i went on holiday with my ex girlfriend. i had told my girlfriend that i had booked us a holiday in april, i told her it had been booked and paid for in the november - it hadn't. i wanted her to believe i was good with money and had savings so told her that i would pay for everything and that it was all sorted. well some months later i had hoped to save the money and pay for the holiday without her knowing i hadn't booked it. she was always asking, ''whats the hotel called?'' what area are we in?'' ect...i had to lie and say one of the hotels which she thought was great and as far as she was concerned, that's where we were staying. april came and still i had no money to pay for it, i had to find 2500 to pay for the holiday. two days before i panicked and stole my brothers cash card and paid for the holiday on a travel website. it was done, but i had taken over two thousand from my brother. not to mention the hundreds i had taken over the years from him. i felt like killing myself there and then, but it was also a sense of relief that we would go on holiday and my girlfriend would never know. the holiday was ok but the lies started kicking me in the arse. the hotel we stayed at was not the hotel i had said to my girlfriend, she was asking all sorts of questions and was suspicious. plus i had said we were flying with an certain airline but you guessed it, it was a different one, and instead of a direct flight we went via france as it was the cheapest i could find at two days notice. all these things just didn't marry up with anything i had told my girfriend in november when i had 'booked it'. during the holiday my girlfriend went through my phone and saw some texts in there revealing some home truths about me, it showed that i had texted 118118 asking if there were casinos in the resort, (i thought i could try and win some money as i had limited spending money on the trip) also it showed texts to a girl i knew. we had slept together before but it was nothing serious. i loved my girlfriend so much, i dont know why but i still cheated on her. anyway the texts were incriminating but she didn't mention it till we got back to the UK. Also when we were out there i had a phone call from work saying i was in big big trouble, i wont go into it too much but it was really bad. anyway, we got back to the uk and me and my girlfriend went our separate ways. once i had got home she text me saying it was over. she told me she knew about me everything and that i was a liar...theres quite alot more to it but i think i have explained a large amount already and im sure you get the picture. anyway i went back to work with the devastation of splitting with my girlfriend running through my mind. i faced the music at work and realised i was in big trouble, i wont go into it because it could reveal too much about who i am. after an interview with the police i decided to take an overdose..... i was ok but still depressed. i went back to work and tried again with more pills but just ended up being scared and went to hospital. they sent me to a special ward and i stayed there for a month. i came out feeling more optimistic but it didn't last long im back at work now, still getting into trouble and i have a big charge coming my way which i am scared about, i am still lying and stealing from my family. im in loads of debt and i keep trying to gamble to make more money. i absolutely hate my self so much, all i do is hurt my family and lie to people. i miss my ex gi more

I've found the perfect accommodation in the Pryenees for skiing in Feb 2010. However, finding a cheap way to get there is proving a nightmare!! I'm happy to drive but it's the southern tip of France and would cut at least 2 days off the holiday! I live in Yorkshire, and the nearest airports to the resort (Cauterets) are Lourdes/Pau and Toulouse. A couple of companies (e.g. Ryanair etc) do cheap flights but they're from London, my local airports don't fly to Toulouse til the Summer season and the damn European Motorail doesn't operate during winter either!! I'm happy to drive, fly or train it down there - is there anyone that can advise on the cheapest method? Okay, i am sorry if this is long. I flew out yesterday to Nice, France with my boyfriend, his parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, his brothers wife and their 2 children. We are here until the 18th of August for a holiday. I woke up early this morning and signed on to check my e-mails and also to e-mail afew people to tell them we got here and its nice ect. I had an e-mail from my friend in California waiting for me when i signed on. My boyfriend was in California at the start of July for work. I couldn't go as i was still in college. He works for a race team and my friend had gone down to the race track with her boyfriend to watch the races when she said that she had seen him. Apparently he was with a girl seeming very loved up and kissing. She had told me she hadn't wanted to tell me before as she had took some pictures and wanted to wait until they had come back (she doesn't have a digital camera yet, shocking i know) to tell me. She then attached the scanned the pictures. Sure enough it was him and some tart looking pretty loved up and snogging each others faces off! At first i started to cry like most people would do after a year together!! I then started to feel angry and then sick. I was actually shaking i had no idea what to do. I was lucky that no one was up but me. I took a walk to try and clear my head and i decided not to say anything until after the holiday as i don't want to ruin it for anyone. When i got back my boyfriend was up and when i saw him all the feelings came back and i have decided that i can't be near him. His brothers daughter was also up at the same time and when i saw her i realised hat i couldn't ruin her holiday. It is unfair to do that because her uncle is an idiot, she is only little but not too little to not realise what would be happening. So now i am stuck. What do i do? I pretended that i wasn't feeling very well today so i didn't have to go the beach with any of them. I phoned up one of my best friends in the UK and she told me to book a flight home for the middle of the night then leave him a message that he will get when he wakes up. I also phoned my friend in California who told me to speak with him and then if that doesn't turn out well fly home or to California to her if i don't want him to know where i have gone. Ooh i dunno what to do. I can't stay and i don't want to ruin the holiday for anyone in particular the children but i need to have some time to think. Should i do what my friends think? hey right please take time to read this, i am 16 years old and i am wanting to go to france with my friend that's a boy hes 15 and i want to take him for his 16th birthday for 3 days to PAIRS because we are studying french when we were at school and now we've left we both want to go and i want to surprise him, i don't have a lot of money i am going to get a job to hopefully get us there,, i need help getting there, i want us to go a few days before his birthday so on the 20till 23rd of august 09... i would love to go to pairs, can someone please help me find a flight cheap as would really help :) also a hotel if possible.. i am wanting to fly from newcastle to pairs. then back please i would really like some help ive been on doing this for days now and i have no look really i need a Miracle or just a millionaire ;) any answers would be helpful, apart from silly ones.. thanks for reading more

Hi, I am an Indian national who lives and works in the USA on an H1B visa valid till 2011. I am in France on a Business Schengen visa on a company-sponsored trip. My trip was extended for a couple more weeks and now it makes sense for me to travel to India directly from Europe for my vacations to save time, money, hassle and also reduce my carbon foot print, instead of going back to the USA and flying back through Europe (most likely LHR with British Airways' cheap fares). I was looking at airfares and it is cheapest ($550-$600) to fly from LHR than from CDG($1150+), so I am considering this itinerary. I know I am exempt from DATV with my H1B going from the USA to India and India to USA. I will be OK on the return leg, since my flight to the USA leaves from LHR. I am not so sure going from France to LHR, though. I will have a less than 24 hour layover and will not be leaving the airport. Do you think they will check or care, going from France? Resolved Question: Travel through Europe... Ideas on how, where and prices?

Me and my friends are getting a flight to Amsterdam for the weekend but for the return journey we wanted to experience a sleeper train. We have researched and found that sleeper trains from Amsterdam only go to germany and we need to get back to London. We have thought about getting the train to Germany and then another train to Paris, and then either euro-star or a ferry from France, then a train from Dover (if ferry used), but this all works out to be quite expensive. We have a budget of maximum £250, and have already spent £100 on flights and accommodation. Does anyone have any ideas for cheap travel from Amsterdam to London (apart from flying)?
