Resolved Question: How to get from Vienna, Austria to Prague or Ostrava, Czech Republic?

I'm going to the Czech Republic in the summer, but I booked a flight that ends up in Vienna, Austria. I think taking a train would be the cheapest but I need some more information. I found this site, http://www.raileurope.com/en/rail-tickets-passes/eurail-austria-czech-republic-pass/index.html but all the tickets are really expensive. more

Resolved Question: Can someone PLEASE help my friends and I plan our travels around Europe for spring break?!?

My friends and I are currently studying abroad in Rome and we are trying to plan our spring break travels around Europe. Our spring break begins on February 27th and we need to be back in Rome by March 7th. Our main destinations are Amsterdam, Prague, and Munich, preferably in that order (we are trying to start at the top of Europe and work our way down). We want to leave Rome on the 27th of February to go to Amsterdam and leave Munich on the 6th or 7th of March to get back to Rome. I have been looking up flights on easyjet.com and it seems much cheaper to fly into a neighboring city or country and take a train into Amsterdam. I need help planning flights, train rides, hostels, etc., so anyone who has any experience with this would be of much help to us. Also, if you can specifically supply links/prices that would be great. Price IS a concern for us as we are college students, so we do not need to stay in any 5-star hotels or fly first-class. All I ask is to avoid Ryan Air because I have heard some awful things about them. If anyone can help us we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much! Ciao! more

Resolved Question: How much for a night train from Prague to Venice?

I will be traveling in early December and was wondering where I can find the price for the night train from Prague to Venice (probably through Vienna)? There are no cheap flights on this route. I would get the youth or student discount (if this applies). I have heard it to be decently priced, maybe around 60-70 euro, but have no way of knowing for sure. Thanks!180euro is not the best deal out there. anybody else have any thoughts? i know its cheap to buy it at the station but I just would like to know how much it would be before I turn away all other options. thanks again. more

Resolved Question: Is it safe to put a laptop in my checked suitcase on a direct flight?

I am going to be traveling from Prague to NYC and back, starting tomorrow. My friend here in Prague asked me to get him a Mac (notebook) because it's a lot cheaper in the US than here in Czech Republic. I would prefer not to carry it through the security areas, etc, as I don't want a whole extra carry-on. I know you shouldn't leave something expensive in your checked luggage, but does this apply just when you have connections and when it's passing through a lot of hands? For a direct flight, do you think it might be okay to put it in the checked suitcase? more

Resolved Question: Europe Travel Questions for Experts?

I'm from Western Canada, and in the year between high school and university I want to do a trip around europe. Based on my research and what seems like a general online consensus, I've decided to get a eurail 15 days of travel in 2 months youth flexi pass, and hit (in order): Amsterdam Berlin Prague Vienna Budapest Istanbul (hoping eurail does istanbul by that time) Athens Venice Florence Rome Bern Barcelona Paris London Brussels back to Amsterdam 1. do these sound like good destinations? should I see Interlaken instead of Bern? Munich instead of Berlin? A different greek destination? a different Ntherlands destination? Is Lisbon any good? 2. Would it be worth it to do a short round trip flight from Istanbul to Cairo to see a bit of Africa for say, 3-4 days? how much would that cost? 3. I can start at really any of the places listed above. which one would have the cheapest fares from Calgary? Where should I buy tickets? 4. How much would food cost daily if I did markets and grocery stores eating sandwhiches and peanut butter? Thanks more

Resolved Question: Best/Cheapest way to travel around Europe & how much money needed?

My boyfriend and i are heading over to Europe for 6-7 weeks. We are from Australia and are looking at going Oct/Nov. Since we are heading into the cooler weather we are planning to go to the southern countries first to make the most of the good weather We are planning to fly from Aust to Barcelona 2 nights French Riviera (Nice, Monaco) 3 nights Milan 1 night Venice 2 nights Florence 2 nights Rome 3 nights Athens 1 night Greek Islands( Ios, Santorini, Mykonos) 4 nights Dubrovnik 2 nights Budapest 1 night Vienna 2 nights Prague 3 nights Berlin 2 nights Munich 2 nights Lucerne 3 nights Paris 3 nights Brussels 2 nights Amsterdam 2 nights London 5 nights Edinburgh 2 nights Dublin 2 nights This is just a rough guide at the moment of places we are really interested in. I have look up eurail, possibly getting a global pass for 2 months either 10 or 15 days, is this worthwhile. I looked up eurolines (bus) but I thought it may take a long time to get places. Have also looked up flights, thought we would do that on the long distances eg Barcelona to French Riviera, & Athens to Dubrovnik Any suggestions, tips & advice would be great How much money do you suggest? We are happy to stay in hostels (private rooms) or hotels, cabins in caravan parks etc as we want to be comfortable and clean but also spend our money more on sights/attractions etc. We also plan to eat say one meal out a day/night and the rest pack our own more

Resolved Question: Honeymoon options: Fiji, Asia or Europe?

Here's the thing: we had our 2 week honeymoon all booked for Hawaii and Mexico, except there's all this political turmoil going on in Mexico now so we've decided to cancel that part. From Hawaii, should we go to Fiji (bonus: direct flight, only 6 hours, probably amazing experience) or somewhere in Asia, like Thailand or China? (drawback: no direct flights to China, 15 hours total travel time, same as going from NYC where we live. Thailand has an even longer connection time. Although the bonus is, they are both much cheaper)? Another option is to come back to NYC, go home for 1 night, and then fly to either Lisbon, Prague or Venice for 5 nights. Bonus is that we love Europe and know for a fact it would be a great time, the package is also much cheaper than Fiji so we would have more money to spend there. Any advice? We don't want to get bored on our honeymoon, so I'm thinking Fiji and Hawaii might be too similar. Fiji is pretty expensive, but I feel like this is a once in a lifetime thing. Europe is great in its own way, though not as special since we've been there before. Thanks!Kristy, LOL at this point we'd be riding on a plane for 15 hours either way, whether coming back and going to Europe or going to the other side from Hawaii and going to Asia more

Resolved Question: What is the cheapest way to fly from Prague to Istanbul?

This April, I'm going with my husband and our preschool-age son to meet up with my in-laws in Turkey. We want to visit Prague on the way, and want to find a cheap flight to Istanbul or Bodrum. We would travel by train or fly to another city to get a better airfare--as it is it looks like there are no direct flights from the Czech Republic to Turkey. What would be some good options for getting to Turkey? Buses are not a good option because we have a young child--but we'd consider short (like less than half a day) train trips. Thanks in advance! more

Resolved Question: Going to Amercia - What do I need?

I am hoping to head over in April to see my friend, this will be the first time I've been so international aboard without family (i'm 20 in march) - Been to France, Prague and Portugal. While I have the spending and relaxing park already sorted I just want to get a final list of what I need to do before hand. These what I have written down: Airplane Tickets (Which include taxes etc..) Heath/Travel Insurance Visa - Going to apply for Visa Exempt Program - While Im a student I was looking to book with statravel, but I have also seen flights cheaper with Air New Zealand for example. When booking with startravel they pretty much sort it out, including insurance - While it's nice to know its all set I would like to try get cheaper then they're getting. Or would it be more simplier to go with them as the difference is only like about £8 on flight tickets. more
