Just wondering what your thoughts are. I have never been on an all inclusive package holiday to Turkey, but had a little look for deals at end of April and they are quite expensive. At present the flights (so I am told) are becoming increasingly booked up and I am at risk of losing the offer, however I always thought Turkey was quite cheap?! Should I hold out and wait til nearer the time, or will it be near impossible getting a good deal last minute? Me and this guy shared a cab ride and while riding he started our convo by complimenting my appearance, which I thought was nice. We chatted for a few minutes --- he is from Morocco and I told him how we (me and my girlfriends) were going to go there last year but opted for Portugal instead ONLY because we got a direct flight and the flight was cheaper. Okay I just realized that I am giving far too much detail (lol) the point is that we chatted but I was just being my normal friendly self and intended to just hop out of the cab BUT then he asks for my phone number. I was notably hesitant and said that I would take his number, which he gave me. Then he was like aren't you going to dial me now so I have yours so we can get together for dinner or drinks? I said I will think about it and hopped out of the cab. He looked hurt :-/ THREE days later I sent him a text and said "hi (his name), it's the girl you met in the cab---I'm sending you this text so you'll have my phone number :)" That was yesterday and he still hasn't responded. So would you be offended if a girl didn't want to give her number to you? Would you be even more offended if she waited three days to give it to you? I didn't do it on purpose. It was New Year's when I met him. Plus I legitimately had to think if I wanted to or not. I've done this in the past and have never called or text the guy. So what do you think? Advice please. more

ok. i first went online and saw some deals. as christmas is approaching the fares are going up. in spite of that i found an indian travel agent in the usa who got me a decent fare of about $1400 round trip detroit to calcutta with about 3 stops. this beat the online fares. however i don't want to leave until after the new year. how is it that travel agents can get such better fares? i was thinking about doing priceline at the last minute for a cheap flight but i'm told there are many restrictions. also my agent told me that when u see a cheap flight online u cannot always get it that they just suck u in and charge you more. i'm thinking about just going with the travel agent. any thoughts on this? more

Resolved Question: Has anyone flown Business Class AIR TRAN to VEGAS from either Milwaukee or Atlanta?

THIS IS A BIT LONG READ IF YOU HAVE TIME: Do you think that we'd be able to get a business class seat if we don't buy it way ahead of time but just try to upgrade exactly 24 hours online (Air Tran's rule) before the flight takes off. This is my problem. We received two free tickets for a trip and we have to fly air tran, but my husband is sort of a bigger guy, (think football player type) and we need a bigger seat for him. I hate for him to have to squeeze into those tiny air tran coach seats. Anyway I've seen Business class on Air tran and that would work fine and we could enjoy a trip to Vegas then. But the tickets are only good for coach and then the only thing we can do is buy the upgrade to Business class for about $99 each way which we can afford. (NOTE: But we can't afford an entire new ticket in Business class since that's 1,000 bucks and they won't let us use our coach ticket towards the more expensive Business class ticket.) Anyway the people on the 800 line said the only way to do it is to wait till 24 hours before the flights to try to get a 99 dollar ugrade to Business class online but it is "first come first serve" and if people pre-paid for the expensive Business class seats at $1,000 the 12 seats could be sold out totally I guess too, sooooo,,,, now I'm worried we'll have this huge trip planned , hotels etc.,and at the last day before have to cancel it and lose my free tickets since my husband might not fit in the little seats and they might force us to pay for an entire last minute extra seat for my husband which we couldn't really afford at $500 coach either,and Business class would be sold out. So my real question is: how likely do you think a flight from Milwaukee to Vegas or Atlanta to Vegas (or Vegas to Atlanta, or Vegas to Milwaukee back again) would be sold out PRIOR to the 24 hour restriction? The agents said there's no way to really know, but that usually business class people know it's cheaper to just wait to the 24 hours before and then do it online. What do you think from all your business traveling.Thanks if you know....ALSO is there a time of week or a certain month that a flight most likely wouldn't be full compared to other times or months to vegas? Or nowadays are almost ALL flights filled to the max to Vegas?ALLUKCAT, THANKS SO MUCH!!!! more

Well, as domino's fall, so did this plan & that plan for our Thanksgiving holiday this year - the kids are grown & gone, family is headed to Vegas (turned out to be super expensive from Maryland where we live), and to MB, Jamaica (also pricey for last minute travel) - So wife & I are trying hard to figure out something fun to do, someplace really great to go, for Thanksgiving holiday (Wed-Sun). Popular places like Vegas and Carribean also seemed very pricey this T-giving. Why our country is in trouble A DC airport ticket agent offers some examples of why our country is in trouble! 1. I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman (Carol Shea-Porter) ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window. (On an airplane!) 2. I got a call from a Kansas Congressman's (Moore) staffer (Howard Bauleke), who wanted to go to Capetown. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information, and then he interrupted me with, ''I'm not trying to make you look stupid, but Capetown is in Massachusetts'' Without trying to make him look stupid, I calmly explained, ''Cape Cod is in Massachusetts, Capetown is in Africa'' His response -- click. 3. A senior Vermont Congressman (Bernie Sanders) called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando . He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that's not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, 'don't lie to me, I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state!'' (OMG) 4. I got a call from a lawmaker's wife (Landra Reid) who asked, ''Is it possible to see England from Canada ?'' I said, ''No.'' She said, ''But they look so close on the map.'' (OMG, again!) 5. An aide for a cabinet member ( Janet Napolitano) once called and asked if he could rent a car in Dallas . I pulled up the reservation and noticed he had only a 1-hour layover in Dallas . When I asked him why he wanted to rent a car, he said, ''I heard Dallas was a big airport, and we will need a car to drive between gates to save time.'' (Aghhhh) 6. An Illinois Congresswoman (Jan Schakowsky) called last week. She needed to know how it was possible that her flight from Detroit left at 8:30 a.m., and got to Chicago at 8:33 a.m. I explained that Michigan was an hour ahead of Illinois , but she couldn't understand the concept of time zones. Finally, I told her the plane went fast, and she bought that. 7. A New York lawmaker, (Jerrold Nadler) called and asked, ''Do airlines put your physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage belongs to whom?'' I said, 'No, why do you ask?' He replied, ''Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said (FAT), and I'm overweight. I think that's very rude!'' After putting him on hold for a minute, while I looked into it. (I was dying laughing). I came back and explained the city code for Fresno , Ca. is (FAT - Fresno Air Terminal), and the airline was just putting a destination tag on his luggage. 8. A Senator John Kerry aide (Lindsay Ross) called to inquire about a trip package to Hawaii . After going over all the cost info, she asked, ''Would it be cheaper to fly to California and then take the train to Hawaii ?'' 9. I just got off the phone with a freshman Congressman, Bobby Bright (D) from Ala who asked, ''How do I know which plane to get on?'' I asked him what exactly he meant, to which he replied, ''I was told my flight number is 823, but none of these planes have numbers on them.'' 10. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D) called and said, ''I need to fly to Pepsi-Cola , Florida . Do I have to get on one of those little computer planes?'' I asked if she meant fly to Pensacola , FL on a commuter plane. She said, ''Yeah, whatever, smarty!'' 11. Mary Landrieu (D) La. Senator called and had a question about the documents she needed in order to fly to China . After a lengthy discussion about passports, I reminded her that she needed a visa. 'Oh, no I don't. I've been to China many times and never had to have one of those.'' I double checked and sure enough, her stay required a visa. When I told her this she said, ''Look, I've been to China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express!'' 12. A New Jersey Congressman (John Adler) called to make reservations, ''I want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York .'' I was at a loss for words. Finally, I said, ''Are you sure that's the name of the town?'' 'Yes, what flights do you have?'' replied the man. After some searching, I came back with, ''I'm sorry, sir, I've looked up every airport code in the country and can't find a rhino anywhere." ''The man retorted, ''Oh, don't be silly! Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!'' So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, ''You don't mean Buffalo , do you?'' The reply? ''Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.'' Now you know why the Government is in the shape that it's in! Resolved Question: Cheap last minute 7day holiday for sub £300?

Hi, me and my gf are looking to get a last minute holiday away somewhere! The criteria is. It has to be a beach holiday, a cheap one ideally (somewhere out of the euro currency) somewhere that will have good weather this time of year! Has anyone had any luck finding such a deal? I have a family matter to deal with in Mexico. I need to be there asap. I'm going from Denver to Guadalajara. It's a true emergency and I'm not a rich guy, but I need to get there and want to do so in the least expensive way. Most flights right now have a really long layover (excess 20 hours), any advice on getting cheap airfare to GDL that's not a long layover. I'm trying to get under $400 if possible. more
