Resolved Question: When putting a booking deposit down on a villa, can the owner cancel on you for no reason or compensation?

I booked a villa in Cyprus, paid the booking deposit to secure my dates. I then booked flights ( which werent cheap). The owner then said that we could have the booking deposit back because she didn't want to rent it to under 25s. However previous to booking she never mentioned this and we met every criteria on her property listing? Is she allowed do this legally? OK so myself and my 2 friends want to go on holiday August time this year around the 27th. Now I went to Ayia Napa in Cyprus last year which was the best holiday of my life and would LOVE to go again. Myself and my mates are really looking for a clubbing place to get drunk and find some girls etc.. This is a difficult one! Will give a bit of history. Then the questions!!!! I have 2 children from a previous marriage. Always paid my maintenance plus 1/2 school trips clothes shoes etc. I now live in Cyprus kids come out 5 weeks school holiday etc etc. This year my turn xmas (only had one xmas in 6 years). Flights booked all arranged fly in tomorrow fly out monday fly back with them 2nd Jan .....Sorted!! Kids looking forward to sunshine! Been counting down the days on facebook for the last week with them, my girls have been emailing their new friends out here organizing days out. Email yesterday. "kids aren't coming out" I and my new wife called to beg to let them come. no joy several calls later. The real reason! Jealousy !!! My new wife apparently always looks nice on facebook new clothes, shoes and a nice life. Its not my fault she is with a bloke who works 2 days when he feels like it! I asked why is she punishing the kids, was told no am going to punish you!!! For what?? Been divorced 6 years and she is still with the bloke I divorced her over! I will be traveling from Johannesburg to London to Cyprus. i.e. At Heathrow Airport I will need to transfer from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 (Virgin Atlantic to Cyprus Airways). My problem is that their is no interline baggage agreement between these 2 airlines therefore I will have to collect my bags as if I were arriving in London and then check-In again normally at Terminal 1. So i'll give you a short version of the story. I live in limassol, cyprus, and until recently i was sharing my apartment with my girlfriend of almost 2 years. So i was going to Sweden for a week on some seminars work was sending me to, and i believed i could trust my gf, i mean she hadnt done anything before for me to actually doubt her. Anyway, the seminars ended 3 days early, due to cancellations, and since the company was paying, i booked an early flight home, and i intented to suprise her, and since i technically was supposed to be abroad, i would have a few days off to spend with her. So i get to my apartment at about 3:30 am on Tuesday morning, and once i was settled to go to bed, i open our bedroom door, to find her asleep in the arms of some guy, both naked ofcourse. I dont really know what happened inside my mind at that moment, but i shouted What the F***, and that woke them, and at that point i just jumped at him, dragged him out of the bed and beat him senseless, while i had her trying to stop me saying i can explain. When i managed to stop, he was in such a condition that he ended up in ER with one hell of a concusion, 2 broken ribs, a broken jaw etc... Now shes treating me as if im the bad guy of the story, and that only i did something wrong, and shes such an innocent victim bla bla bla. So my question to you people is, was what i did really that wrong, and should i just have overlooked the matter that she was shagging someone else in my bed while i was gone? She even started shouting at me saying i can do wth i want, you werent even supposed to find out. So its MY FAULT for finding out. IM SO SORRRYYYYYYYYYY -.-Something i forgot to say, and which will clarify any doubt, this relationship had been going on for quite a while i found out from a friend of hers, and he knew about me. I believe he was as guilty as her since he gave his consent willingly , and he was aware of the facts.Maybe i shouldnt have beaten him, but really, i dont think she forced him into my bed, again and again and again. I know this was not a one timer, and they had been sneaking plenty of other timesWe were quite serious actually, even talking about marriage at some points. I have told her to leave, and only to return to collect her junk, and thats the last i want to see of her. She has called me atleast 30 times saying how sorry she is, but i just dont want to hear it. I am a highly-educated, well-mannored person, but at that point i just went savage.. And i dont think he is so smart that he will sue me, but he rather sent 5 of his mates down to beat me when i was in a bar having a few beers with my brother, but none dared really to touch either of us, knowing what happened to their friend, and knowing that my brother and i have both acquired a black belt 3 dan in karate and aikido, and currently my brother teaches martial arts. ^ is supposed to teach me self control, yes, but at that moment there was none in me. He is lucky to be alive, and that i stopped in time.Btw i'd like to thank you all for your opinions, and maybe i should be worried about a law suit or charges of assault, but in my opinion he had it coming. more

This is what I have found over the internet:"If you find you cannot get a flight to North Cyprus and you are a citizen of an EU country you can always fly to Larnaca Airport on the South - or even Paphos Airport. You are then free to travel over the Green Line and enter North Cyprus." So,as an Eu citizen,if I don;t want to make that stopover in Turkey I can get a plane to Larnaca,in South,and then get a taxi and go to the Northen Cyprus .And I don;t need a visa.. buut do I still need a passport? more

I'm taking a tour from Amman (Syria) through to Cairo in May, after a visit to Turkey. After spending a week or two seeing Luxor and Alexandria, I need to go back to Europe, to start a wander through Eastern Europe and Russia. But it's a bit difficult getting out of Egypt, without retracing my steps through Jordan and Syria. So, first, I'll re-ask everyone's favourite Egypt question: are there yet any ferries that will take me to Italy or Greece? Or even Cyprus or Malta, where I can get cheap flights to Eastern Europe. Is there any way of getting to Morocco or Tunisia without going through Libya or similarly dangerous countries? (From there, transport to France or Spain is relatively easy). What discount airlines fly out of Egypt? Anymore ideas for what I can do? more
