Flight Center Questions asked

Open Question: Flight Center complaint?

My partner and I wanted to book a ticket return to FIJI so we thought of Flight Center. They propose an online service in which we cannot reserve from one day to another, we called the flight center number and it told us to go back to the webpage to make the reservations. We could not then booked online so we had to go to a Center, we thought it could be good as we could have someone to listen to what we were looking for. We go to the Bondi Beach Center and we were attended by an international travel consultant at Bondi Beach , she was very rude, she even said that " I was making her loose her time" ... We had to go over their web page and phoned them and no answer, when we go to a centre we find a person who is not able to listen to us, but also treat us with disrespect. We booked with another company. I will never go back to book a ticket from them, because obviously they are not able to provide a good and reliable service. more

Open Question: Brussels, Belgium - What places to visit?

Hi everyone! I have about 10 hours to spend in Brussels while I wait for a transfer flight and I was wondering what places in the city are a must for a tourist! I am interested in old architecture, monuments, or any other landmarks. Also, is there a train that I can take to the centre of the city? Or will I have to take a taxi? Thank you so much for all your responses. PS: For anyone who lives in Brussels, could you kindly tell me whether I could go inside any of the European Parliament or UNDP buildings for a tour? more

Open Question: Physics Help!!!!!!!!!! Plzzzzzzzz!!!!?

1. A cart of mass 6.8 kg is moving with a velocity of 15.2 m/s. It makes a head-on perfectly inelastic collision with a stationary cart B with mass 7.7 kg causing them to travel with a velocity 7.12 m/s. What is the velocity of cart B? 2. Cart A with a mass 9.9 kg is moving along with 30.5 m/s. It makes a head-on perfectly elastic collision with a stationary cart B with mass 4.6 kg. What is the velocity of cart A? 3. An astronaunt of mass 69.3 kg is on a space walk to repair a communications satellite. Suddenly she needs to consult her physics book so you throw it to her with speed 6.9 m/s relative to your spacecraft. She is at rest relative to the spacecraft just before catching the 2.8 kg book. Find the astronaunts velocity just after she catches the book. 4. On April 11, 1970, Apollo 13 was launched at Kennedy Space Flight center, Florida LC 39A. Appollo 13 carried Astronaunts James A. Lovel, John L Swigert, and Fred W. Haise on their voyage to the moon. However, two days into the flight and 321,860 km from Earth when stirring the oxygen tanks, the Teflon-insulated wires that provided electricity to the stirrer motor were damaged, causing a large fire when electricity passed through them. The fire heated the surrounding oxygen, increasing the pressure inside the tank above its 1000 PSI limit, causing the tanks to explode. This explosion caused Apollo 13 to abandon its moon voyage and to try return back to Earth. To return to Earth, the astronaunts aboard Apollo 13 used the moon to slingshot them back to Earth. The spacecraft had a total mass 68,000 kg (including the 1912 kg of fuel and the 3 astronaunts) and was capable of producing 689 kN of thrust. Using this information, determine how long it would take for the Astronaunts traveling at 24,000 mph to perform an emergency burn and return to Earth traveling at 24,000 mph. In other words, how long would it take the Apollo spacecraft to go from 24,000 mph in one direction to 24,000 mph in the other direction. Note: Make time positive. more

Voting Question: The second cyclone to form in the south atlantic in history as formed did anyone hear about it ?

http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/hurricanes/archives/2010/h2010_90Q.html The second–ever known tropical cyclone in the South Atlantic Ocean can't escape satellite eyes, and today, the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite, GOES-12 captured a visible image of Tropical Storm 90Q now located off the coast of Argentina. GOES-12 satellite captured an image of Tropical Storm 90Q at 1745 UTC (12:45 p.m. ET) today, March 12, when it was more than 1,350 miles east of Buenos Aires, Argentina, approximately near 36.5 degrees South latitude and 34.8 degrees West longitude. At 10 a.m. ET today, Tropical Storm 90Q still had maximum sustained winds near 46 mph (40 knots). GOES-12 is operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and images are created by NASA's GOES Project, located at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md. Tropical Storm 90Q is now moving quickly in a southeasterly direction and is starting to interact with a mid-latitude frontal system. By the end of the weekend, the Southern Atlantic Ocean's second tropical storm in recorded history is expected to be merged with a cold front and just remain in the history books. Text credit: Rob Gutro, NASA's Goddard Space Flight Centeryes in the northern hemisphere, they are called hurricanes, in the southern they are called Cyclones. more

Voting Question: How can I add more irony to my story?

I'm writing a fictional story about the September 11 terrorist attacks. I'd like a bit of irony to the story because I've always liked the situational/tragic irony when I read them in books. So far the irony I have is that a boy is on Flight 93 (the only one that doesn't make it to its target and instead crashes in a field) and he's always been terrified of flying. But he convinces himself that everything will be okay and riding a plane is faster than driving or taking a train to his father's. The day that he finally decides to ride a plane is the day that the plane is hijacked and everyone on the plane dies. I also have this: A girl's parents work in the Twin Towers, and word has been getting around that there are terrorists headed their way for the World Trade Center. So the girl's sister Amber goes as quickly as possible to her parents' office, only to find them out. They needed to pick something up for their boss, so they left the building to go get it. So Amber is in one of the Twin Towers when the plane crashes. Ironically, Amber is killed while checking up on her parents, who end up not being threatened at all. I want there to be three different stories going on, not two, but I don't know what else to add. more

Resolved Question: Will this disqualify me to be a flight attendant?

Back when I was about 16, I got into a slight altercation with my father. To "teach me a lesson" he had me sent to juvenile detention center for about 2 hours and had them charge me with battery because I pushed him. Long story short, I was never sent to court or anything like that, the charges were dropped that following Monday and that was the end of it. I was recently looking at all of the requirements to become a flight attendant and saw that they do a 10 year background check. (Understandable). Will that past incident disqualify me when they do my background check? more

So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people... Absolutely No Profiling! They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males alone lest they be guilty of profiling. more

Resolved Question: how do you like my short story(very short)?

here is the story, please tell me how you like it. This is my second story ever. Blake’s Fight Blake sat in the helicopter, clutched his gun tightly, and wiped his sweat. Blake thought back to the events that led him up to this. He remembered his brother, that was working in the World Trade Center as a tour director in 2001. He remembered the day that the terrorists hi-jacked that plane and crashed in to the twin buildings. It was on his second week as a delta squad swat officer. He helped remove the debris from the buildings, knowing his brother was dead but hoping. He worked overtime, looking for his brother. Blake got the next day off to mourn. Blake searched for his brother’s killers, which he knew would lead him to the organization. One year later, Blake gave up. He wasted a year of his life searching. His last search brought him to Chicago. Blake liked Chicago and wanted to stay there but knew he had to get back to New York City. Blake got to the airport, checked all his bags, and boarded the plane. Blake saw a man arguing with a flight attendant, but dismissed it as nothing, but couldn’t help listening “Sir, you must get off this plane!” she said in a hushed tone. “No, I can’t do that, besides, why do want me off this plane?” he said angrily. “ Because, sir, you seem to have a forged ticket, therefore I can’t let you on this aircraft!”. “While I’m coming on anyway!”. The man thrust his hand forward and eased the woman to a nearby seat, Blake, not looking, didn’t know this. The man brushed past him going to his seat. Blake saw another man wearing almost the same clothes as the suspicious man who just sat down. The man took his seat next to the other man, making Blake suspicious. The pilots announced they were taking off. Blake fell asleep fifteen minutes in to the flight. Blake woke up to a complete riot inside the plane’s seating area. Blake unbuckled his seat belt, and stood up to see what was going on. The two suspicious men were brandishing guns, one with a M9 Pistol, the other with a small pump shotgun, yelling to shut up. One man went in to the cockpit. Afraid what would happen next, Blake snuck around the bathroom/waitress aisle and sprinted at the man with the shotgun. The man didn’t see him until he was tackled, sending the gun fumbling four feet away. Blake brought up his fist and punched the man until he was unconscious, which was three punches. Blake searched the man, found a fake I.D. and put it in his pocket. Blake kicked the unconscious man aside and grabbed the shotgun, cocked it, and went for the cockpit. Blake found one pilot unconscious on the ground and saw the other pilot being held hostage, being forced at gunpoint to fly. Blake hit the man with the butt of his gun, knocking him out. He told the pilot to keep on his original course, not answering any questions. Blake walked out of the cockpit and noticed the other man was gone. He walked through the seating aisle cautiously watching for the man to attack. Blake yelled “ Did anyone see where that man went!”. A man answered “ He walked to the bathroom.”. Blake thanked the man and calmly walked down the aisle, but keeping up his caution. He reached the bathroom and put the gun into his left hand and opened the door with his right, ready to shoot. He slowly opened the creaking door, then ripped it open. The small room was empty, not a trace of anyone being there. Blake heard screaming, so he slammed the door, turned around and took cover at the aisle wall, peaking out. The man had sneaked in to the cockpit and taken the pistol Blake had forgotten. He aimed the gun at the other side of the wall, giving Blake valuable seconds to shoot. Blake realized he had a shotgun and would probably hit and innocent with the spread of pellets. He waited for the man to fire and then ran at him and smacked the gun out of his hands and put the barrel of the gun at his head. The man grabbed the barrel, slammed it in to his knee, and shattered it. Blake delivered a hard right jab to the man’s face, and a punishing left uppercut to the stomach. The man kicked Blake’s shin, jumped back and delivered a kick to his stomach and grabbed the collar of his shirt. Blake grabbed the man’s head and slammed it in to a nearby seat. While the man was on the floor, Blake picked up the pistol and pistol whipped him on the back of the head. Meanwhile, the other man had woken up and walked to the other aisle. Blake looked up and shot the man. He collapsed with a hole in his chest. Blake took the shoelaces out of the closet man’s shoes and tied both men’s hands up. Blake checked on the pilot who was previously unconscious. He was back in his chair and were both flying on the normal route. Blake finally got off the plane, still shaking from the thrill of the fight. Blake was taken to the New York City police station for questioning. He was dismissed as innocent, and praised by many passing officers. As soon as Blake got out of the station he got a cab ride to his old ap more

Resolved Question: Current or former military pilots or weapons officers, I need some help with radio phraseology please.?

I'm putting together a flight video using a simulated AC-130 Spectre gunship. We will be attacking two simulated ground targets: A vehicle convoy using our Vulcan cannons and a weapons depot using the Howitzer in Iraq. I need a realistic callsign that would be used for an aircraft/mission like this, and realistic voice commands for clearance to engage the target, target in sight, weapons fired, and when the target is destroyed. Just a few examples of what these might sound like would be really great! I'm a real commercial pilot, but the radio jargon we use is nothing like military jargon. Would the commands come from a ground command station, or from the control center in the aircraft? more

Resolved Question: Opinions Needed Please!!!?

As you walk up the slightly sloped driveway, you get a sight that not only widens your eyes, it opens your ears, it lets your nose take in smells that makes you smile and it feeds your taste buds like it is a baby being hand-fed. The surroundings make you realise what is really around you. You take it all in. Not wanting to miss a second of this appealing place. Right in the middle of your line of view is a small, oval shaped patch of grass, the old oak tree standing tall and proud in the centre as if he himself owned this wonderful land. The sound of the wind beating viciously at his branches and rustling his leaves shocks you and your ears hurt suddenly as the wind picks up and smacks your bare skin. The tree must be hundreds of years old but the wind doesn’t affect him; he still stands tall and proud. He must have seen this farm grow bigger and bigger up until this very day. Birds flutter politely between his branches and eat greedily from feed-hangers that hang lightly from him. Even from the distance that you are at, you can hear the birds wings beat furiously as they try to stay in flight. You stop gazing at the ancient tree and glance around. To your left is the shimmering whiteness of the geese’s feathers, the sun radiating down and reflecting not only light; but beauty. The geese waddle around their captive pen with joy and content. They squawk and hiss with passion and the sound pierces your ears. A sudden movement in the corner of your eye makes you draw your eyes unwillingly from the creatures that you had just admired. With your head tilted to your right, you watch intently as a rider collects the pony that waits knowingly in the stables. The horse’s head is held high as the rider pats him affectionately and hooks her leg over. She taps the heel of her riding boot into the side of the horse, it snorts in anticipation for the long ride ahead. Its velvety coppered coat is blocked suddenly from the sunlight as a cloud hovers overhead. You take time to study the barn that covers the other horses. You can tell it is newly built, with a strong, sturdy roof and wooden walls, you see that the stalls are a variety of sizes. Some only have two horses in while others which are more spacious fit up to four inside. The other horses in the barn whinny longingly as they watch their friend being ridden away. The sound calms you and echoes in your ears. And for the first time, you notice the small, delicately designed cottage that rests in the heart of the farm. Its thatch roof lies quietly upon the four old bricked walls. The small picket fence circles the cottage and crimson roses entangle themselves through the gaps. The flower patch that is to the left of the white painted front door has giant sunflower’s that reach higher than the fence enclosing them. The sun projecting the cottages silhouette. You take a deep breath and smell the scents of the countryside. The rich smell of horses wafts through your nose, making you realise just how fresh the air is. You take in the scent of the cold windy weather which makes your nose tingle with a sharp pain as the iciness hits. As you retrace your footsteps back down the drive, you stop and look back over your shoulder for one last glimpse of the beauty that lies within this farm. Happiness fills your senses. Sight. Sound. Smell. Taste. more

Resolved Question: Red Line Rash on Back of Hand Spreading (Photo)?

My History: I have been diagnosed with excema before but in the past 10 years every single time I notice even a small amount of flare up, i put on cortisone 1.0% creme and it goes away in a day My Rash: I was on a 20 hour flight 5 days ago when I noticed a small (pencil eraser sized) raised area of skin on the center of the back of my left hand. It did not itch. 2 days later there is a raised line about 1/4 of an inch long. I scratched it once or twice but not that much. One day later the line grows to about 2 inches and another line starts forming above it. It grows from 1/8 of an inch to more than 1/4 of an inch the next day. These lines do not itch that much and are not painful. There seems to be some heat sensation on the back of my hand but I don't know if that's from the cortisone or not.. I continue to treat with cortisone 1.0% creme and ointment and it is not getting better but seems to not be spreading as fast. I have no other symptoms of weakness, sickness, and have no stress. I'm thinking I could have come into contact with something on the airplane, or about 7 days ago I was hiking through bushes which I could have touched a little poison oak but I thought the irritation was immediate. Note: The blue lines I drew on to see if the lines spread the night before... I do have an appointment w/ the derm tomorrow.. Resolved Question: If i Graduated with a Degree in Computer Information Systems (A.S)?

Would any job want me or do i have to get more certifications such as compTIA etc. Some people say not to do college just get certifications i think that nonsense. Jon McAfee, senior IT security engineer and national security systems manager at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, put it this way: “It’s not that I don’t look at the certification at all; it’s just that it doesn’t mean as much to me as actual, real experience working on an enterprise network or a college degree. Certifications are great, but by themselves, they don’t mean a whole lot.” So could i be hired right away after i complete my degree or do i still need certification to be worth anything. more

Resolved Question: Wake County Public School System, Black Children, and the NAACP?

I now its long, but its well worth ready and commenting on. Lets look at the city’s problems: 1.) GANGS!!!! Raleigh Police Chief Harry Dolan said the city has a "significant" gang problem that requires a community response. Forced bussing has influenced many young Africa descent males into gangs. (Don’t bring up racism, recall the gang brawl on a Saturday night inside Triangle Town Center that involved as many as 300 young blacks. A 15-year-old was stabbed, and a police officer injured!) These 10 to 16 year olds would of never been involved in such behavior if it was not for others being bused miles from other parts of the city into their own and influenced these students. A child gets sent all over the county to go to school and feels unsafe because they're away from their home turf and don't know anyone, so they join a gang for protection. 2.) OVERCROWDING! Look at Wakefield. Every football field and soccer field is covered in classroom trailers. After school programs are needed to keep children away from crime, to build character, and sadly…bad parents. Yes bad parents, ones that are in gangs, doing/selling drugs, in jail, or to rich to care. Only the best of the students are on the basketball and football teams. What about the thousands of others that are looking to be apart of something? NOTHING! (Sadly Gangs allow these students to be apart of something that others look up to.) 3.) “GOOD SCHOOLS” what Wake County parents don’t know… When a school is under performing what happens? Bring in better teachers? Start after school programs? NOPE! They bus good achieving students to that school and bus the uneducated students to a better school. This does nothing to help the student but it sure does make the school look better on paper. Just BS! 5.) DRUGS: Wake County has almost ended drug searches in the schools because if the students don’t get caught with drugs on the school ground. The school “does not have a drug problem” on paper. WAKE UP PEOPLE! Bring the drug searches back into the schools! Once Wake County goes back to neighborhood schools. Hopefully the drugs will become more localized and the police can fix the problem schools one by one. 4.) “BROKEN WINDOW THEORY” Look this up online but…This theory suggests that a disorderly environment sends a message that no one is in charge, thus increasing fear, weakening community controls, and inviting criminal behavior. It further maintains that stopping minor offenses and restoring greater order can prevent serious crime. In traditional policing, they go from call to call, and that is it. Raleigh police is under paid and over worked. This practice of cleaning up Raleigh needs to be down ASAP. Remove the graffiti the next day to prevent others from doing it and send out a strong message to these children that we don’t put up with it. It will better our communities as a whole. 5.) Homes and neighborhoods would become more valuable because they have neighborhood schools with local children. Local children have pride in their school, classmates, teachers, and community. How do you expect a student to have pride and join groups like student government to better the school and community when they live so far away? They don't and join groups like gangs to feel that pride. 6.) Many black children simply don’t want to study and see being educated as “acting white“ or called “Gay“ by their black peers. These students generally come from single-parent families who impose no discipline. These students are allowed to disrupt and terrorize schools by politically correct school boards afraid of civil rights lawyers and racist groups like the NAACP. For that reason, most large cities like Wake County have seen “white flight.” White flight is where wealthier families move to suburbs to escape the public school systems of large cities....This is the start of the Broken Window Theory. (as stated before) Once the wealthy educated students and families move out, the schools will continuing to go down hill from there. Stop wasting money and time on the failed politically correct school board and city. The truth must be accepted. Of course, every school must be equal in talent levels of teaching staff and materials on hand. By following these suggestions, we can stop pretending that more money will solve the problem. Political correctness is a lie and many cities are starting to admit the obvious after wasting 40 years and billions of dollars. 7.)Take the millions of wasted money on forced bussing and place it into a newer, cleaner CAT city bus program that is strongly needed in Wake County, after school programs, The Raleigh Police to clean up the city’s gang problem, and Vocational Classes. Face the fact that every student will not go to college and having a skill trade and making money is better than having a drop out and living the life of crime. Whats your thoughts? more

Resolved Question: Was 9/11 an inside job? Read on...?

I've asked P&S now I'll ask the Gov. section. Before you say no, read these facts- Oct. 24 2000- Why did The Pentagon conduct 1 of the 2 planned training exercises which simulated a Boeing 757 crashing into the building? An ex Navy F4 pilot who worked at the Pentagon(Charles Burden Gain or at least I think that's how you pronounce his name) was also present at the simulation. The ex pilot then retired from the Pentagon and began a job working for Boeing. THEN less than a year later the plane he flew allegedly crashed into the building. April 2001- NORAD planned the 2nd exercise which would simulate a plane crashing into the Pentagon but was rejected as "Too Unrealistic". July 4th 2001- Osama Bin Laden received medical attention at the American Hospital in Dubai where he was visited by a local Chief of the CIA. Since he was already wanted by the US Dept. of Justice, why didn't they go ahead and take him into federal custody? July 24 2001- Larry Silverstein, who already owned WTC 7, signed a $3.2 Billion lease on the entire World Trade Center, 6 weeks before 9/11. Included in the lease was a $3.5 billion insurance policy specifically covering acts of terrorism. NOTE after the 9/11 attacks, Mr. Silverstein demanded 2 separate payouts from his insurance company claiming each plane represented as a separate attack. Sept. 6 2001- 3,150 put options were placed on United Airlines stocks, which totaled more than 4x the daily average(a put option is a bet that a stock will fall). Sept. 6 2001- Bomb sniffing K9's were pulled from the Trade Center and security guards ended their 12 hour shifts. Sept. 7 2001- 27,294 put options were placed on Boeing's stock, more than 5x the daily average. Sept. 10th 2001- 4,516 put options were placed on American Airlines stocks, totaling near 11x the daily average. Sept. 10 2001- The Pentagon's top executives cancelled their flights for the next morning.(as reported by Newsweek on 9/24/01) Sept. 11th 2001- Before the attacks, Northern Vigilance deployed fighter jets to Alaska and to Northern Canada for "training".(as reported by the Toronto Star on Dec. 9th, 2001) Also before the attacks on 9/11/01, 3 F-16's at Andrews Airforce Base, 15 miles from the Pentagon, were flown 180 nautical miles South for a training mssion in North Carolina. Sept. 11th, 2001- Both planes then struck the towers. It has been deemed that the jet fuel melted the steel reinforcements that held the towers up. According to the periodic table, jet fuel doesn't burn hot enough to melt steel.(research thermite.) Also did you guys even know a 3rd building fell? Research WTC 7. It was on fire but still. It NEVER had a direct impact from anything.Forgot to add: Watch "Loose Change" for the full documentary. more

Voting Question: My work expericne is making me miserable?

ok, i'm in year 10 and i've now done 2 out of 5 days at my work experience placement which is at my local veterinary centre (vets), the first day i was soooo not looking forward to it not just because im very shy and dont tend to socialise with new people much untill im comfurtable. so this was one of the reasons why i applied for the work exp to build my confidence aswell as to learn obv what it is like to work & to see if working as a vet/vet nurse is what i really want to do before i comit myself to training after school etc. well the first day was quite boring because when i arrived they hadn't planned anything for me to do, so i had to stand in the corner "observing" which is an obv thing to be doing on the first day but i felt under peoples feet because there wasnt much room, there were lots of vets and distressed animals. so after watching a few interesting operations and sweeping up fur and general dirt then mopping all the floors with disenfectant, which i was fine with as i cant obv help with operations etc. i then got to watch some consultings which were also ok, but when there werent anymore customers i was left sat in the room because i didnt want to go back into the operation room as there wasnt much room and they were having a bit of a crisis with a low number of vets and a high number of animals. the next 3 hours after lunch i spent cleaning kennels, mopping the floor again and doing the odd jobs. so after just cleaning and being bored for 7 1/2 hours of my day i went home not looking forward to the next day and feeling exhausted. so i gave the next day a go and the same thing sort of happened exepet there were a few more things for me to do, (cleaning wise ofc lol) and watching more consultants and a new job... jugging 8 mugs of tea down a flight of stairs and through heavy doors without losing half a cup of it. i originally asked my teacher to prospone my work exp for just a little bit of a later date as i was stressing about having to finish certain pieces of courseowkr in class to be sent off to be marked, aswell as missing loads of other lessons and other bits of coursework.. however i have now sorted this out with school and they said they cant wait untill i get back to start the coursework, and my mum said she can phone the work exp place to say ive gone back to school to complete much needed courswork.. but i feel like im going to get in trouble with the vets there because i heard an "ex- work experience girl" being slagged off because she dropped out after a couple of days but not for the same reasons as me? what shall i do? more

Resolved Question: Any Parisian youth hostel recommendations?

Me and my friend have booked flights for Paris between the 18th and 25th of June and just have accommodation to sort out. We're only teenagers so are on a bit of a budget and I think we've agreed that a youth hostel would be fine. Has anyone stayed in a youth hostel in Paris before and would you recommend it? We're looking for something with a good atmosphere, reasonably near the centre of Paris and not too expensive. Any help would be great. more

Resolved Question: Is this an "allegory", or some other kind of Filipino story?

"Aref is a man who hates flies. Whenever flies buzz over his head in his room, he tends to get his flyswatter, that looks as if it has seen better days, and hunt down the flies till he kills them all. But one morning as he rose from bed, a rather young and smallish fly buzzes his head, and he follows its erratic flight that seemed to center on his mug of coffee from the night before. The mug was still half full of cold coffee. And drowning on it was another fly. His first instinct was to watch it drown with glee. But the first young fly that buzzed him awake again circled overhead, as if calling his attention. And he thought: "This must be the drowning fly's mate, and she is asking me to help her husband." As he reflected this, he thought of so many things, but primarily the force and power of love that defies survival instinct, offers sacrifice without thought. And, Without knowing why, he got a wooden clothes peg and got the poor fly out of the mug, and he watched it wearily dry itself. He totally forgot his own cruel nature, and let the young fly buzz in and buzz out of his head, so pleased with himself for this good deed. Another thought entered his head. What if the fly he rescued was in fact the young one's mother? Ah, what child would not do to help and save his parent? So many other possibilities played in his head, that he just had to lie back down in bed to ponder them over. And then, the young fly's buzzing got so violently frantic, as if calling his attention once again. So, he sat up following once more it's flight. Until he rests his eyes on his pillow. On it, jerking in its last throes, was the fly he rescued, the pillow wet with coffee. It must have crawled away there and he had accidentally crushed it to death, with his head that was so far away in philosophy." more

Resolved Question: Is this a good paper for english class 9th Grade. Scary story?

It started in the Summer of 2012, Condannto Hospital’s X-ray machine had a circuit malfunction. Patient 30904 was infected from the radiation coming out of the Uranium in the machine. The hospital was evacuated all except for Patient 30904. He was put under quarantine and all other patients of Condannto Memorial were evacuated. The hazmat team was walking down the hall towards Patient 30904’s room. As they entered the room prepared to subdue him they were attacked. Patient 30904 had already exposed two other victims to the infection. Patient 30904 and his roommate were now infected and attacking the hazmat team. As the Mayor ordered all of Condannto’s citizens to evacuate the two patients of Condannto Memorial were on the lose infecting even more of Condannto. The virus had become airborne and passed through contact. It also made the victims overly aggressive. Soon the whole population 53,594 had been infected with the virus. The National Center of Disease Control had named this virus, Blessure Mortelle. As the virus spread across the nation many cities were put in a state of military watch. These major cities Las Vegas, Washington D.C., and Boulder were the last open cities of the United States. All airports and Shipping yards were closed down for safety. The uninfected humans had a choice to go to either of these cities. Las Vegas was where the “evil” people went it was a home for thieves, murderers, and other criminals. Mr. Natas was their leader and he took over Nevada using the infected as guards for the border of Nevada. Mr. Salvator was the leader of Boulder and had open arms to anyone who chose to enter. There was a fence around Boulder, Colorado and they had no guards around. This was a place for all leaders and others that wanted to help for the greater cause. Last was Washington D.C. and it was devoid of life. Many followers went their along with other people that had family or friends to look for. Lots of people were told to go there because it was said that a ship was coming to help the uninfected, but that was just a rumor. Mr. Natas started to build up an army that he was going to use to take over the country. When Mr. Salvator heard of this news he sent out a runner to Washington. He carried a note asking for the help of the people their. His offer was to give anyone helping food and shelter in Boulder. Many of the people decided to help after finding an interpretation of his name. The ones that stayed were later infected and help never arrived for them. The citizens of Boulder then held a meeting to find out what they were going to do. During this meeting a spy of Mr. Natas’s slipped in so he could gather information. But after hearing how many people changed their life just from one choice, he decided to help the citizens of Boulder. He gave them valuable information on the forming of Mr. Natas’s army. After the meeting Boulder decided to search Denver, Colorado for a radio. When they arrived they split up to try to find a radio tower. The citizens then found a radio tower but it was inhabited by infected guards of Las Vegas. They waited until nightfall. At midnight they split up in to two group one went and set explosives on a bridge to create a distraction. The bridge exploded alarming all the infected and they rushed to the bridge. The other group moved into the tower, they climbed several flights of stairs until they reached the top. They searched around the tower and found the controls. As they were about to send out an S.O.S. for help they found an encrypted code. It took them several minutes to decode but once they did they heard a message that said. “This is the United States Marine Corps. We will be making our final pass through The U.S. and will be landing in Houston TX for pick up. All survivors proceed their for pick up.” The citizens of Boulder then set out to Houston. They had arrived just in time for pick up. They then told the General about Mr. Natas. After The General pondered for a minute ha decided to leave. The citizens of Boulder got out safely. The horde of infected that all started out with Patient 30904 eventually died out along with the virus Blessure Mortelle. Mr. Natas and his followers crumbled under their own system. The rest of the world was sheltered from the infection and the rest of the world went on living their lives. Their are a couple of little jokes in it like the population number. If you find some put them in and get 10 points. more

Resolved Question: $150 for petrol Melbourne to Sydney?

I was offered a rideshare from CouchSurfing, and the guy said he drove down to Melbourne (Dandenong) from Sydney (city centre) and it cost him about $150 in fuel. Now I'm a little hesitant as, split between only two people, this is more than an economy flight! Am I being ripped off? Note: I know nothing about cars, including his car. I assume it's quite modern though. more

Resolved Question: What do you think of my idea for a bill, it's called The Safe and Sound America Act?

Since 9/11 we've all traded a few freedoms to feel a lot safer. Now some guy just exposed the flaws in our laws regulating small planes by crashing into one of the most patriotic places in the U.S., an IRS office. We need to trade more freedoms folks. There has been talk of making private air plane pilots file flight plans and then check to make sure none of their friends are on the government's no fly list. Why stop at personal planes though? Anybody could use a personal vehicle to transport and detonate a bomb. The Safe and Sound America Act would eliminate all of our fears in this era of terror. The SSAA (Safe and Sound America Act) would require-- All automobiles in the Unites States to be equipped with a functioning GPS system that communicated that vehicles location to the necessary government agencies. All automobiles must be equipped with a driver identification system. All automobiles must be equipped with a wireless auto shut off system. All communities will build and maintain a Driver Safety Control Center that is responsible for all automobiles in their community. All drivers must file a route plan with the DSCC (Driver Safety Control Center) no later than 60 minutes before departing your property. The route plan must also include the names, addresses, country of origin, and employer, of all passengers you will be transporting and their destinations. A declaration of all items you will be transporting on your route must also be submitted at the time you submit your route plan to the DSCC. The DSCC then inspects your route plan, passenger list, and items you will be transporting for anything suspicious. All drivers are to submit to random inspections at any time on their route to verify accuracy of their list of passengers and items being transported by officers of the DSCC. The DSCC will monitor the GPS location of all automobiles in their jurisdiction and when a driver files a route plan with a destination in another community they will notify the DSCC in the destination community of the route plan. Any automobile that deviates from the route plan, or is found to have an undocumented driver with the driver identification system, will be shut off automatically by the DSCC using the automatic shut off system. Officers of the DSCC must then fully inspect the vehicle before a code can be used to turn the automobile back on. ***************************************************************************************************************** I know it sounds like big hassle and will cause some inconveniences but safety must come first in this era of terror. Danger lurks around every corner of our communities these days and we need all the protection a big government can provide. So now that I've explained this will you trade a little freedom for safety and support the SSAA bill I've come up with? If your answer is no, just ask yourself how you can argue against safety and a bill called the Safe and Sound America Act and still claim to care about your country? more

Resolved Question: How good is it? Room for any improvements?

I could hear the horn of the car from my room, like a trumpet sounding the finalization of my mortal life. It was time. A fraction of me felt relieved I was finally leaving this place, but another part of me was afraid of where I was going afterward. I was relieved to leave this place because I was already getting attached and if I stayed longer I wouldn’t be able to depart. On the other hand, I’ve known that I would one day have to leave, but I wished that one day wasn’t today. Only when I saw the shaky diamonds that reflected on the wall from my earrings did I realize I was trembling. I felt like my heart would burst open any minute. Leaving my filthy rich life in Beverly Hills didn’t really affect me. I was just too fond of to people here. I hate my life. I felt like crying. No! Keep it together, Keep it together! I shouted in my head. Stopping me before I could get a major headache, the car horn went off again. Now I would have to go down in front of my family and friends and say goodbye. I said my farewell to my room which had always been my place of escape and I left to face my fate. Everyone who knew me acknowledged that I was chosen to be a vampire and I would have to leave sometime and go to a vampire school. Now after seventeen years of mortality I would have to start learning my duties as a bloodsucker. People think, being a vampire is a great way of "having more lifetime opportunities" as it said on some magazine, but I think it’s a great way of having a life full of ripping peoples throats out. I wasn’t affected by that crimson liquid – yet. I knew I would someday (somehow). I walked down the steps deliberately ignoring the photo of my family. Two years ago my sister, stepfather and mother had died in a house fire. My mother wanted my biological father to look after me. I lived in England. It was hard, having to move half way round the world. I’d never seen my father before because he had abandoned my mother when she was thirteen after she just found out she was pregnant with me. So he didn’t want me. Following that, my stepdad Joel came and picked up the pieces. He was like the dad I never had (which is accurate in a way).I made my way down the first flight of stairs. My father Kyle is thirty now. His wife, Agnes, is thirty-one. She is really pretty and chirpy. She has this arrogant self-obsessed son, Tanner. He isn’t Kyle’s son, so I guess we’re not blood-related. We’re both seventeen. He has half the girls in school wrapped around his little finger. Me and Tanner never get on and never will. Kyle keeps on suggesting ways we could bond but then I give him this look and he knows to back off. When Tanner does talk to me he’s always teasing my English accent. I was on the last flight of stairs. I’d always moaned about how long the staircase was but, strangely, today I wished it were longer. I inhaled profoundly. I walked past the imaginary boundary line to the living room. Conversation stopped and all eyes shifted on me. I rolled my own eyes. There were, it seemed like, a million people from my school and some people I wasn’t even familiar with. Tanner and his friends were situated at the heart of the room. As customary, he was the centre of attention. Where they hiding something? I made a huge error. Something I wished were a pencil mark I could just erase but it wasn’t as easy as that. I had shifted my long brown hair away from my face and exposed my neck to everyone. Every vampire had a special mark on their necks. It was like this dark star shape and it was all black (You were born with it and it identified you as a vampire). I glanced around the room. Hell, with everyone looking at me I could feel myself becoming claustrophobic in the otherwise large room. They all looked so mystified. I always kept my neck covered and this was a shock to them. “What am I, a science project?” I regretted saying that. Now was not an ideal time to use humour. Kyle and Agnes had faces of anxiousness painted on them. “That’s my Deena, trying to crack jokes at a time like this, just like her mother.” Someone joked. I couldn’t believe it. The best voice on the planet was calling to me. My Aunt Adele was here. Beside her were my Aunt Dakota, Uncle Allen and Grandpa Rio. I was so overwhelmed with happiness; it felt as if my heart was on a rollercoaster. I felt myself becoming out of breath. “Hello, hello and hello.” I said it in my usual smart ass tone. “I can’t believe you’re here Aunt Ade –“ “What have I told you? It’s just Adele without the Aunt. It makes me sound youthful.” Everyone in the room relaxed a little and I even saw people smiling. This crazy lady was my mum’s sister. She always had a calm aura around her. “But how did you make this journey all the way from Europe? It’s really expensive to travel now.” I didn’t want to sound disrespectful so I smiled in disbelief while I said it. “Thank that young boy over there.” She went rigErm. . .not all of the first chapter seemed to load. The start sort of goes on and the other part is much more interestion but it never loaded. Or maybe I exceded the character limit. more

Resolved Question: What do you think of my Italy itinerary?

Hello folks, I have put together a rough sketch of my itinerary for my trip through Italy. I'm going this March over spring break. I plan on visiting Rome and Italy. It's a little rushed, but I honestly am a little more fast-paced than most people, so I wouldn't mind being kind of rushed. I mainly want to make sure that the places I want to see are feasible to visit and in similar parts of town. Just a note: I cannot change the day that I land in Rome (Saturday at 18hr) or the day that I leave (Sunday at 4hr). I cannot change the location where I land. I'm aware that I'd save time if my flight schedule was different, but at this point I cannot change it. The flight and three nights in a Roman hostel are the only reservations that I have paid for though, so everything else is flexible. What do you think? Saturday: Land in Rome at 6 p.m., check into my hostel. Sunday: Cappuchin Crypt - Museum of Rome - Borghese Gallery - Appian Way - Travastere walk (North City Center of Rome) Monday: Colosseum, Forums, Palatine Hill, Pantheon. Pub crawl. Tuesday: Castel Sant'Angelo - Ponte Sant'Angelo - Catacombs of Priscilla Wednesday: Audience with the pope (I have a letter from the Vatican saying I can get tickets!), Sistine Chapel - St. Peter's basilica - Vatican museum -- At 22 pm--get on a train to to Venice Thursday 6 am Hop off the train at San Lucia, arrive in Venice 9 am Walk from St. Mark's Square to Frari Church (self-guided St. Marks to Rialto Walk chapter). Stop along the way to the Rialto market to browse 11 am Tour Frari Church, Scuola San Rocco 12 pm Tour Accademia, dorsoduro neighborhood, La Salute Church 13 pm Dorsoduro lunch, vaporetto to St. Mark's to wander and shop 15 pm St Mark's basilica 16 pm Doge's Palace 17 pm Gondola ride 20 pm Dinner 22 pm Dueling orchestras with a drink on St. Mark's square Friday 11 am Grand canal cruise chapter, vaporetto 13 pm Lunch 14 pm Murano 17 pm Exploring 19 pm pub crawl Saturday: 8 am Get on a train to to Rome 12 pm Hop off at Rome 16 pm Plane leaves Rome Reservations - Make reservations at the Venice Fish, extend stay at Hostel Alessandro - Reservations for musuems--museum cards? more

Resolved Question: Is flight training better in Florida or Virginia?

I'm trying to choose between two flight schools... Horizon Flight Centre in Chesapeake,Virginia OR Sunrise Aviation, Ormond Beach, Florida. The former is a CPC and has weather conditions suitable for proper IFR training. The latter isnt a CPC, but has alot more amenities for international students. Also I've read more testimonials from Sunrise Aviation than Horizon Flight. Help please. more

Voting Question: Someone please explain this situation to me!?

o I met this wonderful Indian man at a business convention this past weekend. We had known each other previously, because this convention will often take place every few months and we always see each other at them. During the convention, we chatted and flirted with one another, the usual sitting close to one another tagging along for the various lectures taking place and the like. He was so into it, that one point when we were separated from one another for most of the day, he came up to me before I left the convention center for my flight, and apologized profusely. I suggested we exchanged phone numbers, he said OK, and gave me his. Fast forward two weeks later now, we are still chatting it up every couple days, exchanging text messages and having conversations which are lasting for a couple hours minimum. We are mainly discussing work, people we know from work, and little in work jokes. However, just yesterday while we were conversing, he asks me what he should get his girlfriend for Valentine's Day in the middle of our conversation. Never before have a heard that he had a girlfriend, so asked who it was. It was a mutual friend of ours, whoever he claimed that he was keeping the situation a secret because of family ties. Suddenly, he gets into this whole rant about how there is "some girl" at the convention center who is driving him and his girlfriend apart. The "some girl" was obviously me, and this guy is saying he is fervently in love with his girlfriend and he is concerned because his girlfriend isn't so into him anymore. I addressed the situation (seeing that we were the only people flirting at the meeting, it could only be us) and professed that I had no interest in him (which is a lie, I know) and I am sorry about all the rumors now going around about us. Now, he is ticked off at me. I HAD NO IDEA HE HAD A GIRLFRIEND. And if he had this girlfriend, why did he flirt back with me so much? Am I being played? This whole situation is just ridiculous, I genuinely had no inclination to flirt with him if I knew his current relationship status. more

Resolved Question: I need to do an international money transfer?

Can someone please help me with this. I need to transfer money from the UK to South Africa. What do I need to do this, and what is a legit company to make use of? Can I go to a travel agent like Thomsons or Flight Centre? Will they be able to help me? And what would the costs be involved? more

Resolved Question: Who do I contact above individual airlines? The FAA? The DOT?

I was recently on a Midwest Airlines flight that was delayed due to technical problems (the cockpit door would not shut). We missed our connecting flight, and had a 5 hour layover due to the delay. Once I contacted the Customer Services reps at the counter, and the Contact Call Center, they said they could not offer us any sort of refund because the problem was "weather related". Who can I contact ABOVE Midwest Airlines to resolve this problem? The FAA? Department of Transportation? Attorney General? Thanks for your help! more
