A lengthy pursuit of a pickup truck throughout west Phoenix Tuesday morning ended when police trapped the vehicle and took into custody 13 men on board, all of them suspected illegal immigrants. Eight of them were hidden under plywood in the truck's bed , authorities said. The pursuit lasted more than 30 minutes and stretched some 10 miles as the driver tried to elude officers using the freeway and surface streets. At one point, the truck nearly struck a motorcycle officer, officials said. Phoenix police and state Department of Public Safety officials say two of the men exchanged roles as driver during the pursuit. The two were arrested and face charges of felony flight and human trafficking. The other 11 suspects were turned over to U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement. Phoenix Police Officer James Holmes, a department spokesman, said the passengers in the truck were shaken up but no one was hurt. The incident began around 6:30 a.m. when a DPS officer tried to pull the truck over along westbound Interstate 10, near 32nd Street, for tailgating and driving erratically, Holmes said. The truck stopped but drove off as the officer approached the driver, authorities said. Authorities stopped pursuing the truck during parts of the incident, especially after it exited the interstate. To restore his father's faith, John plays a prank in which he places a dressmaker's dummy in such a way as to make the reverend think he is seeing John's mother's ghost. His faith restored, the reverend delivers a passionate eulogy for Owen, calling him his "hero" and pleading for God to give him back. From his house in Toronto, John remembers that also before the funeral, he paid a visit to the Meanys, where Mr. Meany reveals a shocking fact: he claims that Owen was a virgin birth, just like Jesus Christ. He tells John that he told Owen this when Owen was about eleven--about the same time that Owen accidentally killed John's mother. You shouldn’t spoil her.” He hissed. “We’ve taken away her home, her friends, her boyfriend-” Mum ranted. She wasn’t pausing to be soothed; she wanted to panic, to be guilty and upset and to feel that she was getting what she deserved. You could say I knew my mother well. “She’s incredibly lucky, you know that!” Dave groaned in frustration, and my mother’s background noise of all the things I had ever lost stopped abruptly. I heard her take a deep breath, and felt the row of chairs shake as she shook herself. “I know. I know that. I guess I’m just worried. Dakota was ecstatic. I can’t fathom why Phoenix responded so differently.” My mum worried. It was a hobby of hers, worrying. Silence ensued her last word, until Dave finally picked out one of his favourite replies to my mother’s constant panicking. “Don’t stress yourself, honey.” David muttered. My ears popped and a small child in the seat behind me was wailing. It grinded on my nerves- I can’t stand the noise of kids crying. It drives me crazy. I would be such an abusive parent. I almost laughed to myself, and then the flight attendant bustled over to our row and spoke to us. Deciding now was a good time to ‘wake up’; I opened my eyes and blearily looked around myself. The flight attendant was slender with a short blonde bob and a deep tan. Looking closer, I decided that she was definitely not a natural blonde. She looked as if she was in her early twenties and she had dark circles under her made up eyes. There were a few lingering spots from a bad case of acne in her teens, and her lipstick red lips revealed sharp canines. She either didn’t notice my obvious scrutinising or politely ignored it. “We are about to land in Captiva. Please remain seated. We hope you have enjoyed your flight.” She smiled one of those awful, fake, I’m so happy to see you smiles and then trotted off to repeat herself to the next family. My sister, Dakota, another member of the false blonde community, whipped a hairbrush out of her travel bag and pulled it through her soft, knot free hair. You could tell from one look at her perfect, creamy face that she was ecstatic to be here. I wondered if we were even remotely related after all. Sure, it wasn’t that unusual for her to be so happy. I mean, most people would be. Hello? We have been dating for about 2 years and gotten pretty serious. But now I find a photo of her that she's made no attempt to hide on her computer which I regularly use (with her consent). Hey I am 18 and my whole life my friends say I shud be a flight attendant. I went to some orientations, and I had a meeting with an airline manager and he said I wud be perfect for the job. Im just worried cause I am from Phoenix and now I live in LA and I actually have a medical condition where I get very very cold and get hypothermia if I am some place cold. I would love to be a flight attendant but I dont want to live anywhere other than LA or Phoenix or Hawaii cuz all my family is there and I am afraid to tell the airline about my hypothermia becuz maybe they wont hire me. Can I be based in LA??If you really want to stay in one city *and* work for an airline, you should apply for a ground based job where you only work at one (the same) station every day. tomorrow i have a flight on a relatively small comuter airline to Phoenix AZ. After 9/11, i've always had an aversion to flying, and now that i've heard about this whole nigerian man tries to blow up a plane thing I'm totally stressing out about it. Well tonight my family and i are leaving for France for a week to go visit my grandparnets but we arnt sure how the plan rides will go we are flying from Phoenix to Dallas which is a 2hr 25min flight then have 1 and half wait till our next flight Dallas to Huston which is an hour flight 2 and half hour wait Huston to Paris which is a 9hr and 25min flight then a 6 hour wait till our next flight Paris to Bordeaux which is a 5hr 40min flight we arnt worried about us its the 7 toddlers that we are taking that we are worried about it will be my parents my brother his wife and their 2 year old daughter my other brother and his 3 year old twins my sister her husband and her one year old son me my husband and my three 3 year olds and then my 16 year old sister and 11 and 9 year old brothers we are worried what the kids will do during the flights its about 18hours all together for flight time have any of you done anything like this please i need alot of helpAlso what are things that we could bring to keep them accupied more
