Resolved Question: Should I pursue this long distance relationship?

I met him last June in Oregon. He was on a road trip from BC to Texas. We met and had an instant connection. After that one night out together, he asked me to come to Texas for a music festival. I was leaving for a 3 month trip to SE Asia, so I decided to not go. Over the 3 months, we kept in touch. He was very persistent about meeting me, even if it meant that he flew to Thailand. While we didn't meet in Thailand, he asked me if I wanted to meet him in Hawaii for his birthday in February. I said that I might be able to. I ended up coming back from my SE Asia trip in January. When I got back, we started chatting again. We decided that he was going to fly to Oregon to visit me for the weekend. He flew all of the way from Philly, since he was working there to Portland, then drove to Central Oregon. We were having such a great time that he extended his trip from 3 days to 10 days. We had an amazing time together. Now, we keep in touch almost every day. I am not sure what to do now. Although my mom is a flight attendant and I can fly for free to Texas, I could only go on the weekends. I also just got a wonderful new job, so I can't be taking sick days here and there to make the weekend trip really worth it (esp. since there is a chance that I might not make a standby flight). He asked me when I would visit again and I told him when the next 3 day weekend comes up. But, since he works remotely, I feel like it makes more sense for him to fly here again..I am not sure if I should push the subject. I already feel like in the last couple of days, we haven't been talking as much or as deep about our feelings. I hope he isn't pulling away? I really, really care for him and want this to work. I am just not sure how. Please help! more

Resolved Question: Why Are Women Leaving Marriage in Droves?

"Society does two things to men and women that make more and more of today's marriages destined to die. 1. It tells men what they are supposed to desire in a woman. 2. It then tells women the way they are supposed to be to become desirable. Since women are not that way, but feel pressure to become that way, many marriages are doomed from the beginning. And many that do not end in divorce continue in various degrees of unhappiness, particularly for the women involved. Statistics tell us that women instigate more than 75% of today's divorces. This flight of women from marriage has prompted books such as Maggie Gallagher's The Abolition of Marriage: How We Destroy Lasting Love. Gallagher calls for a return to fault divorces as a "cure" for divorce. She feels the individual's right to choice and self-gratification has brought an "institution" to the brink of extinction. Gallagher writes, "As a private association of two individuals, marriage may have as many meanings and as many goals as there are private individuals. But as a public institution, marriage has one overriding purpose: to create an environment in which it is safe to have children." Yet marriage is composed of two adults, both of whom have a right to happiness. Statistics have shown single women as happier than married women for decades. University of Texas sociologist Norvel Glenn finds the happiness of single women continues to grow. In addition, he found that, despite no-fault divorce enabling easy marriage exit and despite the high divorce rate, the number of happy marriages are still falling--from more than 50% in 1973 to less than 40% today. If we are seeing an enormous increase in divorce, we should be seeing only happy marriages left. We aren't. The divorce rate has climbed, the number of unhappy marriages that remain has climbed, and the happiness of single women has climbed... What does this mean for the institution of marriage? Add another factor says Gallagher, "Part of the relative instability of two-career couples may be due to self-selection: Wives with less traditional attitudes may be more likely to both work full time and divorce. But there is another explanation that has been mostly ignored: Full-time working women, especially women who are working against their wishes, may be more prone to divorce because they get less from marriage. "A woman at home, (part or full time) who chooses divorce must give up her entire way of life. By contrast, a wife who works full time and divorces can simply continue to do what she is doing anyway. Life may get a little harder--or even a lot harder--but for a wife with a full-time job, a change in her marital status does not seem to entail a radical transformation of her day-to-day lifestyle." "Oh, my, my, my," says Society with a capital "S," while wringing its hands and shaking its head, "If we could just get those women back to the farm... If we could just get that genie back in the bottle..." Is it true? If we could just get these women back to the farm; if we could just get women to stay home again, would they be afraid to leave marriage because the kids might starve? If we could just get those women under control again, reverse those child support laws, and go back to the old ways, would everything be better?" http://www.cyberparent.com/women/marriage1.htmHappy 2 guy, Wake up and smell the coffee, divorce is at epidemic proportions. There were 24 married couples in my sub, white middle class america 5 years ago, out of 24 now there are 13 left that are still married. I'll bet it's even higher than that now do to the economic situation. Marriage is like a fast food, people want it fast, eat quick and throw out the left overs, then go back for another fast meal. more

I'm almost 14 and I live on the west coast, and I want to fly to texas. I just want to see my best friend in the whole world who moved away. Resolved Question: Pushy family members...what do I do?

We are having a budget wedding, 5K max, 75 person guest list TOTAL. Being Mexican-American, I have TONS of family members, both here and in Texas (where my father's family is from.) My father is one of 12 brothers and sisters, my mother is one of 8....big, big, big family. Being that I was born and raised in L.A., I really never got close to some of my father's family in Texas. I have only been there once, about 15 years ago and there are some family members that I have only met once or twice that live out there. My older cousin Raul lives in Texas and has a common-law wife and two daughters (met the wife once when I went to visit 15 years ago.) His wife, Mari, has proven to be the bane of my existence and I hardly even know her. So the way we (the extended family) keep in touch is via Facebook. The wife, Mari, friend requested me pretty soon after I joined Facebook but hardly ever commented on my posts or anything..... UNTIL I announced my engagement on facebook. She RIGHT AWAY posted on my wall congratulating me and asking when the wedding was and if the Texas family would be invited. Knowing right away that my wedding would be VERY small, I didnt even answer her back. I thought it was a bit rude, especially since I hardly knew her. Within weeks I started planning my wedding and making posts about it on Facebook because I was so excited and I wanted to keep close family and friends updated. EVERY time I would post, she would comment on that post and make it seem as if she was attending the wedding even though I never told her she was. Even when I posted about something TOTALLY irrelevant she would comment on that and turn it into the wedding. For example, I posted that I wanted Pho one day (a vietnamese soup that I love) and she said "Iris, what is that?" I answered her and she said "Oh, Okay, maybe when we come up for the wedding you can take us all to eat that!" This started happening EVERY day it seemed. My family suggested that I just quit Facebook until after the wedding, but I didnt think that fair to me and my close friends and family that wanted to see how my wedding was going. So I edited my privacy settings so that she wouldnt see my posts. This has been working fine. But then just last week she sent me a very rude message via FB stating sarcastically that all of a sudden she couldnt see any of my posts and she "wonders why that is...hehe". I ignored her and decided that maybe that WAS a little rude of me, so I unblocked her. The day after I unblocked her, I spoke with another family member who asked me who exactly I was inviting. I said I could only invite about 15 people from that family (the ones that I am closest to and live in L.A.) to "represent the whole family as I can only afford so much". I said this because I knew this family member would pass this along to Mari. I told the family member that it isnt that I dont want them there, I just couldnt AFFORD it, which is the truth. If I can, BELIEVE ME, i would have my whole family there...even pain in the ass Mari. Today I get a message from Mari that read this: "So, Iris, you still havent told us when the exact day of the wedding is so we can book flights and make plans! When is it!!! I have been asking you for months! And you know its SO RUDE to invite friends before your family. We are your family and it is the right thing and the respectful thing to have us all be there!" WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?! are you SERIOUS??? This is a lady that NUMBER ONE isnt even MARRIED to my cousin NUMBER TWO ive met ONCE 15 years ago and NUMBER THREE has NEVER wished me a happy birthday, merry christmas or ANYTHING in 15 years but AS SOON as I plan a wedding, she expects to be the first invited!?!?!? HOW do I handle this PROPERLY!??! Because If i handled it the way I want to, she would be CRYING!!!! more

Voting Question: why cant i get over him?

my bf elijah, 3 years and engaged. but we are the type of couple thAt goes on and off. well let me get into the story. i got out of a really bad relationship a guy who i totally trusted cheated on me. i trusted him and gave him another chance. he cheated on me with my friend. it was awful. i broke up with him the same day i found out i wasnt gonna take that BS. i met elijah in class he approached me haha passing a note to me asking for my name it was really cute. after that we talked alot and i started to like him alot. i can say it was a bit obsessive. i was really twisted in the head. i would cut my self everytime he made me cry and he kept rejecting me because of his past girl devina. well he always told me he liked 2 girls. his best friend sasha and his past girl. so he wasnt ready for a relationship but i refused to not be with him. so i waited and waited. i scared him by writing a love note in my own blood. after this he was totally creepd out. he didnt want anything to do with me.so i told him i would kill my self if he ever leaves me. well what do you think he did? ofcourse he stayed. now okie this is a weird psyco beginning. but he started to fall in love with me. i honestly fell for him after i got back from texas. i went to tx for a semester becuz i was bad in school. i came back because i really missed him and i knew his bday was june 2nd and only flight i had was on the 5th. i took it :) .. anywho. my mistake i sed the L word too early. now he thinks im still infatuated when its not true. i really wana marry this guy. but im so jealous when he talks to other girls. becuz he leads them on. he loves to flirt. he said he stopped but i just cant get my self to trust that he stopped. i do trust him i really think he wudnt cheat on me. but i feel he will go on the border line but wont cross it you know? we fight all the time becuz he blows up on me. he calls me a bitch. and if we have a big fight he cuts things off and breaks up with me. and i helplessly run after him. he is very very jealous. and so am i. we are both jealous and we both dont like us hanging with the opposite sex. he cut things off with other girls. expecting me to notice and do the same. well im not with him 24/7 he couldve just told me. i wudve done it. now i dnt talk to most of my guy friends. ..i seem to see that i dont kno whats hurting me.. he is a good bf but he is so twisted himself. i think he just likes playing games with me. wich is so immature because i want to settle down with him. and with all these breakups i dont think we can last. he seems to not want to be with me as much but he cant leave becuz he loves me. well why cant i get over him? and help him out and just cut things off permanantly? why do i love him so much? do i even love him?he says i am controlling . i just want to ask a few qwestions and im good and he doesnt want answer because he thinks i dont trust him i do..im just scared.. oh goddd this isnt really a qwestion... comment anyways tho more

Resolved Question: Where and when should my boyfriend and I go on our first vacation together?

I've been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years now, and we want to finally go on a vacation somewhere. I'll be 20 in October, he'll be 21 in December. I can't decide if we should go somewhere over the summer (probably late July early August) or if we should wait until winter break (mid December to mid January) to go somewhere. Also, I can't decide where to go! I think he really wants to go to like a national park or something historic, and I'm fine with pretty much anything. I DO think a beach vacation would be easier and cheaper, but I'm not sure how fond he would be of that. Although, with the right destination, for the right price, he can probably be convinced! I've been to Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas, Missouri, Iowa, and Florida, (he's been to all, plus Nebraska) and we'd really like to visit a place we've never been to. We'd like it to be relatively cost effective, too. No more than 700 a person (flight and hotel) in the summer, and no more than 800 a person (flight and hotel) in the winter. Cheaper than that would obvisouly be GREAT!!! We have also entertained the idea of DRIVING somewhere, but we only have like 4 or 5 days to vacation, so that probably wouldn't be wise. So, where do you think we should go? When do you think we should go? What to do there? more

Resolved Question: How much money would I need for 2 months travel in the states.?

How much money would I need for roughly 2 months travel in the states. I plan to go NYC, Washington DC, New Orleans, Mississippi, Texas, LA, SanFran, SLC Utah and Chicago. I've calculated that I would need 4,000 British pounds as Hostels is roughly 600(cheap hostels)-900(the more expensive ones) and a 15segment rail card from Amtrack is roughly 300pounds. So 1000 for flight and Amtrack rail pass 1000 for hostels 1000 for food and local travel 1000for reserve and going out. Is that enough or am I being to hopeful? To help 4000 pounds would be 6,000 dollars. Thank you, any tips or info would be helpfulHi I wouldn't be driving anywhere (can't drive) so using amtrack trains or bus. 2nd I'd be staying in Hostels which are much cheaper, I've checked out the cost for that. I think so long as I ahve money to sleep somewhere and to get to my next destination, I will be ok.Actually if you research it, you do have hostels there. On my 1st trip to the states, I stayed in a hostel, of which there are many. more

Resolved Question: What do you think of this excerpt of my story?

I sat outside by the pool on a warm summer afternoon. You know the type, with the light breeze, no clouds in the sky, the smell of neighbors barbecuing next door. It was perfect, even though I could have been in Hawaii. My beautiful older sister, Tori sat beside me on a brightly colored beach towel, tanning. Her naturally blonde hair was pulled to one side of her face. “Rebecca?” She said, not looking up. “Yes?” I responded. “What are you doing?” “I’m writing in my journal,” “Why?” I sighed impatiently, “Because I like to write.” She looked at me for the first time, “But why do you like to write?” I thought about it for a second, “Because it’s just my way of expressing myself and letting out suppressed emotions. Is that a good enough explanation for you?” “Yeah. I was just wondering,” She turned back towards the sun’s rays. My sister and I were barely a year apart, but we were in the same grade, because I was moved up a grade due to my “vast capability of knowledge” and more big words. If I was supposed to be so smart, why didn’t I understand any part of what the so called “experts” were saying? But anyways, Tori and I had always been close, but then puberty hit, and she got blessed with good looks and a flawless face, and I was not-so-blessed. With a head full of mousy brown hair and boring brown eyes, I was totally unnoticeable. Well, to most people. I watched Tori stand, her bronzed body glistening in the sun. She looked out towards the white picket fence and waved at someone, a flirtatious smile gracing her luscious lips. I was guessing the person was our 23-year-old neighbor, Dean, who had an odd thing for 16-year-old girls apparently. I turned my attention back to the laptop which was balancing on my knees; an e-mail from my best friend, Summer was on the screen. She had sent it all the way from Hawaii, where she and her family, including her hot and so-into-me brother, Blake, were vacationing. I began to scan it, savoring every line. Becca, It’s so warm down here! I wish you could see the amazing view we have from our hotel balcony. The ocean is as clear as glass, and I don’t ever want to leave. Blake told me to say hi. He has mentioned you a few times since we have been here. Is there something I should know about? So what’s new in Texas? Are you having fun sipping iced tea by the pool and watching Dean mow his yard with his shirt off? Hmm, that sight alone is enough for me to hop on the next flight back to the mainland. Well, Mom is badgering me to get off the computer and go to the beach with them. I promise to write more to you later. Love, Summer I smiled at the screen with delight. Blake had been asking about me! I e-mailed Summer right back, telling her it was okay in Texas, Dean was as hot as ever, and I was still perfecting my tea brewing skills, but I was getting there. I clicked the send button, and something else clicked in my head. At first, I was numb, and I remember thinking “This isn’t normal.” Then, the pain came, and I screamed in agony, falling to the floor. The laptop toppled over with me and hit with a loud crash, causing the screen to go ominously black, but I was in too much pain to worry about it. “Rebecca!” Tori gasped my name rushing to me. “I…it…hurts!” I wailed, and she rubbed my shoulders while whipping out her cell phone. “No!” I yelled more forcefully than necessary, “Don’t call anyone!” Tori stared at me in silent shock as my vision grew gray and then went dark in a snap. Behind my closed eyes, a picture began to appear, slowly, like an old television warming up. I could only make out a nice looking room with a seaside view. As the picture became clearer, I realized that it was a bedroom, and there was a person in the bed, a pale person who was gasping for breath. I squinted my eyes, trying to decipher the still blurry picture. The pain in my head had just about disappeared, and with a click, it was gone, and the images suddenly snapped into focus. I gasped in horror as I realized that the gasping figure on the bed was Summer’s mother, Mrs. Landon. She was grasping at her throat with one hand and reaching into the floor for her dropped inhaler with the other. I was frozen in place, unable to move anything. As I helplessly watched, her lips turned blue, and her eyes went wide. At last, she gasped once more then went limp. I expected her to miraculously sit up and walk out, but I knew somewhere deep inside that she was gone, and that this was no dream. The scene seemed to fast forward before my eyes. I looked out the window as the sun made its way across the bright blue Hawaiian sky until it was close to setting. Then I heard voices that seemed to come from a short distance. “Summer, go check on your mother,” This was Summer’s father. “`Kay!” Said Summer cheerfully, the sound of a girl having a blast on vacation. She walked more

Resolved Question: As a Filipino, are you interested to resolved or to find the real people behind Ninoy Aquino assassination?

Ok you're not interested fine, I am not interested with your opinion. I only want those who are interested. Sad we don't have Sherlock Holmes in the Philippines. Will the case be re-opened again once Noynoy Aquino won the election? Ninoy's assassination is similar to the case of JFK. Until now the US hasn't had a concrete clue to who ordered the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963 in Dallas, Texas. Those who are implicated in the Agrava fact finding board are now dead except one who is not included in the report but still walking among us and still staging lavish hotel parties. I guess you know who she is. Are we not interest to find the truth and nothing but the truth in Ninoy's assassination plot and finally give justice where it is due. It's been 27 years. And Filipinos today are now completely oblivious of what transpired in Philippines international airport at that time in 1983. Even the youth of today do not even know who Ninoy Aquino was or what he done to the country. All they see are pictures and memorabilia. Filipinos are really poor script writers. Imagine staging an assassination plot right there in the airport. The six( 6) suppose to be security escort didn't even suffered a scratch or a gun shot wound in any part of their body when they said that one lone gun man shot Ninoy at the tarmac. Only a lunatic would believe that story. All the SWAT team and police are already deployed long before the Cathay Pacific flight of Ninoy would land in Manila. And yet in the end, Ninoy was still killed imagine that. Who is this gun man Jet Li? There is a standing order that Ninoy must not be breathing once he land in Manila. Came from whom is one of the biggest question we all want to know. Isn't it? So what do you think? more

Voting Question: How can I politely or make a good excuse in this situation(terminally ill grandma)*REVISED*?

Ok so my dad works in afganistan, he is coming home for a few weeks on leave because his mom has a terminal illness(my grandma who is 90 years) He is telling me that it would be better if I go to Texas (where my family & grandma resides) because it may be the last chance I/We get to see her. I am currently in san francisco(I go to school here) & I am on school break as well right now, & my family knows it. I will probably be flying to japan in a few weeks from now aswell (for school abroad)At the same time this will also be my last time to ever spend time with my first & best boyfriend I ever had because I will be leaving for japan for my studies permanantly to live there & I dont know how I can say good bye to him aswell because we know it will be the last goodbye to each other after we split ways ( because My career & education must be done at priority, *its just the fate of things the world works*). However, I really really really detest living in texas, I know my grandma may die, but I really dont want to go to texas because if I go I know I will be trapped in her house for the next few weeks & die of boredom & probably get really depressed & lonely as I will not have a car (In texas you need a car or your dead trapped, there is no such thing as public transport here) I really dont wanna give up my break time from school because shes dying, I want to spend this time with my boyfriend who has been the first & amazing to me. I wish you the best grandma, but sorry Id really rather be here than there. Me & my grandma were never close to each other anyways, I hardly know her(we cant even speak the same language, so communication is bad she only speaks spanish), the way other people may have been, so please dont criticize me as some heartless bytch. she also has aroun 80 other grandkids(she has 9 kids of her own, & now they have there own families & their kids have there own kids & multiplied so shes not dyin alone) I will cost around 200$ flight from sanfrancisco to texas, Then it will cost 1500$ flight to japan from texas, which if its from san francisco to japan it would only be 880$ . its alot more expensive to fly from texas to japan. Thats like an 800$ difference saved if I stay. How can I politely or make a good excuse in this situation not to go. more

Resolved Question: Which is cheaper when it comes to booking a flight online or travel agency's office?

I am planning to take a flight from Houston, Texas to Cebu, Philippines but it's very expensive if I book online however, i don't know if its cheaper if I go directly to there local office. I ask a friend from Philippines to go to a local travel agency and it even cost more coz the flight is going to Philippines not going out of the Philippines. SO I figured maybe I should go to the local ticketing outlet or local travel agency here in Houston or Livingston, Texas. Anyone can recommend me any travel agency here in Houston, Livingston Texas? or anyone can give me a good a advice either to book it online or through a local agency. more

Resolved Question: A TRIP TO AMSTERDAM!!!?

okay, now if you couldn't guess I would like to take a trip to Amsterdam. I would like to take it not this summer but next summer 2011. I did a little research on cost but I would love a second opinion. So if you could tell me what the price would be for a 7 day trip. i.e. hotel(limit $100 a night, preferably close to coffee shops), food($20 a meal), Car (small four door with navigation system....cheaper the better) coffee shops( average price) Plane ticket (second class) p.s. I would be flying from either San Antonio or Austin Texas, I understand that they might not have flights that far into the future so i would love a website that gives cheap flights (i.e. travelocity) more

Resolved Question: Is President Obama Ending the Space Program?

For starters yes, I voted for Obama. Is he really ending NASA? I sure hope not. I believe it would do more harm than good. He is trying to cut government spending, but I just don't think this is the way. This would had a major affect on Florida, Alabama, California, Texas, as well as the U.S. economy. It would would cause so many people to lose their jobs. The loss of jobs would lead to even more foreclosures. And I hear that he wants to outsource space flight to other government and private companies. That would still require the government to use money because they would fund the companies to develop capsules and rockets that can be used as "space taxis". I think is a HORRIBLE IDEA! I hope that this DOES NOT happen. I want NASA to stay around. I can remember going outside as a child being thrilled to be able to see the shuttle go up. more

Resolved Question: A "trife life" question.?

What do you do when everything takes a turn for the worse? Just keep going? I come from generations of heroine/cocaine dealers starting with my grandfather in the 60's, then my father (who left me, my mom, and my brother for dead) back in the 80's. I just turned 21. I joined the U.S. Army last year after being kicked out of my house when I was 17. I found a way out of the military because I felt I wasnt ready for it yet. (I was medically discharged, which did not come easy). Then I was homeless for a week. Taking flights from texas to california trying to fix my life. Now I live in a garage alone. I fortunately have a part-time job working minimum wage (less than minimum wage if you include taxes). My father just sentenced and I found out today my brother was also, today. There is alot of complexity to all of this, many years of fine details that i'm not willing to explain on yahoo answers. The bottom line is I have a net worth of probably $300 + $1,000 in debt, so really a net worth of -$700. What does someone do when the pain is so deep. I feel like I have no pit in my stomach. The other day I puked from the stress. What does one do in these times, it seems like money is the only motivation. Just the need to survive. Is there anyone else that can relate being born into a "humble" life? What would you do? more

Resolved Question: I recently retired from active duty looking to travel cheaply looking into using mac/space-a flights?

Was looking at all the cheap ways for me to get from Seattle, Washington to Moscow, Russia or other fun destinations around the world that won't break the bank. Anyone know how to fly from the U.S. to Germany,Japan,Kuwait or other international bases? Theoretically time is of no importance I can fly from or to any base in the country to make a connecting flight to a foreign port. The base Im near only has flights to Texas and Alaska frequently besides I don't know the rule of "conus" what does It mean what does conus mean? Any international base hubs I could go to that have a higher then usual internation flight plan. A more then obvious one would probably be from Texas to Iraq. more

Resolved Question: How do I know if he is really serious about our relationship?

I meet my boyfriend almost three years ago. We hit it off immediately. It was the most intensifing feeling I have ever felt. And for him too, so he says. I meet him first while I was dating one of his co-workers. We went off roading in our Land Rovers and out to eat afterwards. My son actually met him first b/c he went in his car while my very short term guy friend went in his. Anyway, that's when I first laid eyes on him and was attracted to him right then and there. So I ended up leaving a week later back to texas for about a year. I travel back in for during the time from TX to CA. It was about a year and a half later that I saw him again. My girlfriend and I went to go see a band play and I knew he was going to be there. I was so nervous that I was shaking when I sat down at the table. I sat next to him but not intended. I could feel him looking at me even though my back ended up towards him as we listened to the band. As the night continued and the drinks came. I became less nervous and saw that the white chicks in CA have no dancing skills so I asked him to dance. We ended up making out. It was full blast connecting like never before. Now here is the deal. I'm 35 and he is 49. Big age difference number one. He was also married but his ex wife now had left him 3 years prior before we meet but they never got divorce. She was in Norway where she is from. Why they never got divorce during is beyond me. He said he never had a reason to. Wierd. So six months later I moved in. Our first little tiff was that it was time to take down her pics. He did but told me not to touch anything else that he would take care of it. Till this day he has not. We never fought since we meet. He instigaged marriage and a baby. So two months after I moved in, i got pregnant. I ended up with an eptopic pregnancy and had my right tube removed. the doctor said we would fight due to my hormones. I said yeah right. Sure enough we started. Everything really came out. I would get after him for not filling and procrastinating. No more sweat thing he thought he had. So he ended up wanting to slow down. It pissed me off even more. we fought for the next seven months then he kicked me out after I just got laid off and no family and good friends to run to. Now how could a man do that. I was 2000 miles away from home. That right there is messed up. We were separated for three months then I moved back in. Two months later after he got back from Norway visiting his daughter he comes back and says that he is planning to move there to finish raising he daughter. That we could not go on. I told him that I would go with him that we did not need to end. He stood strong and said it was best to be apart. So I booked a fligt to go home to TX the next day. As I was packing, he turned is emotions and said "oh my god," what have I done? He then grabbed me and said that he loved me and wanted us to work out some how. So we ended up deciding that I would go for a couple of weeks while he went back to Norway to figure things out. He ended up not going and I returned. Then in October he hit me with I booked my flight a week ago to Norway and it would be best to stay with my mom til he returned so I would not be by myself. Okay, I understood that. Anyway to try and make it short. We ended up being apart now for almost four months. During the time he was in Norway, he ended up proposing to me, mind you this had been for the thrid time during our relationship which he always feel back on to just girlfriend. He said that when he returned that things would be put in place once and for all. He was to come to Tx to visit for a couple of weeks to see if he could move here. We ended up fighting a couple of days before his visit and he cancelled his flight he did this twice so now it has been two weeks since he has been back form Europe. Now he is to come in two days. Boy we have been back and forth but we can't seem to stay away from each other. But he is only visiting for a week now. What are we to accomplish in that time? He says not to worry that we will be toghter and that we will be fine. I have heard this before but if he did not want me, then why would he keep hanging on to me when he knows what I want? It's been four months now I told him so lets just make it easier from here and go different directions. He said no way. So I'm still loyal as my therapist says. Not crazy or Boarder Line Personality (which mean that I like to keep getting hurt over and over again and never learn), which is what my mother thinks. She told me to ask my theopist btw, and he said not at all for all you guys wanting to know. He said i'm just super loyal to my relationships and do what it takes to make it work. I thought so. So there mom! So now i'm waiting for him to arrive in now in less than two days. Mind you I have just started a job, not a career so not serious if i leave it. But a job inca more

Voting Question: Going to San Antonio,TX with work- would like to holiday somewhere else in the states afterwards- where?

We are from the UK and I have been to America a few times before but my partener hasn't- he is planning to fly out to meet me after the work part of my trip is finished. Going to the states is a rare opportunity for us so a two stop holiday might be good to make the most of it- I was thinking that going to San Francisco and Las Vegas would be accesible from San Antonio but I am wondering if anyobody has any good suggestions or reccomendations. Obviously it would be easier if we went somewhere within a few hours flight of Texas- we like a balance of sightseeing and relaxing. Any suggestions welcomed! more

Resolved Question: I've travelled all 50 states of America...the best state is...well, what do you thi?

Between November and January, my best friend and I went to the United States (we're from Ireland) to travel through all 50 states. We drove through 48 states, took a flight from New York to Anchorage, Alaska, then back to Seattle for a connection to Honolulu finishing off all 50 states. I had the time of my life and would recommend it for anyone. What I'll say about he US is that it's people were probably the friendliest that I've ever had the pleasure to meet. The best state, which surprised me, was the great state of Ohio. Every single person in that state was friendly, welcoming and would go out of their way to help you. We met a family outside a resturant in Ohio and got talking to them about our travels. When they found out we had no plans for Christmas day they invited us to join them in their home, we couldn't accept but they insisted. We ended up having an awesome Christmas meal with a great family. I still keep in touch, they'll have a place in Ireland if ever needed. Other greats were Arizona, Idaho, Alaska, California, Texas, they were all great. A truly great country. So that's my opinion of the best - what do you think, what's your favourite State of the USA that you've been to? more

Resolved Question: Advice for traveling America next year July 2011 for 2 months, starting in New York.?

Get ready this is a long one!!....Right ok.. me and my boyfriend (both will be 23) are planning on flying to New York next July, somehow(if its possible, all by public transport) from there, we somehow wanted to get to see Miami/Florida, and possibly some surrounding part of Texas (or anywhere near there where we can experience that "type" of america if you understand what i mean..) After about 4 weeks we was hoping to fly from there to Nevada (Las Vegas) where we will also visit LA and possibly California. we was then planning on flying back to New york after the other 4 weeks to get the return flight back to london. (this is simply because the return flights for new york are only £350 each) We don't want to hire a car out... is it enough to rely on public transport to get us from state to state? Or are we going about this the completely wrong way ? Any advice is greatly needed!!! Thank you. (p.s, another idea would be to just book a one way flight to New york, travel down to Miami from there, then get a flight to las vegas and see the surrounding states, then get the return flight from there.) more
