Voting Question: Some help with flight sim X please!!!?

I have just spent alot of money on an ultimete gaming computer, in the hope that it would run Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Although I can run other games okay, after about half an hour on FSX free flight mode (haven't tried missions yet), the game shuts down on me. A box appears saying 'a fatal error has occured', and then it automaticly restarts. I am currently using windows 7 ultimate, and do not have the accelloration pack, but I have installed both service packs available. On my previous pc, I was using windows vista home premium, and it worked okay, but several add-ons would not install. On my new pc, I have successfully installed the following add-ons: PMDG 747-400X Queen of the skeis; Just Flight airbus series vol. 1. Please could you provide a solution to the problem if you have one! THANKS more

ok.. well i play on this flight simulator called orbiter (its a free flight sim) and i started going into the files and editing them... they appeared with stuff like mainthrustoutput= 20 and suchlike so i could edit the values and make ships move faster and suchlike. but for some reason now when i open the same files its just random computing code and somewhere near the top it will say "file cannot be read in dos mode" so can anyone please tell me how to read it like it was before? more

[TO THE ANTI-SIMULATOR PEOPLE, YOU DONT HAVE TO READ ANY FURTHER] FOR EVERYBODY ELSE: On Microsoft flight simulator, I'm trying to master the Lear 45. I did a "free-flight" take-off yesterday. QUESTION 1: when I achieved air-speed at the end of the runway, the plane lifted by itself. I did not pull the yoke back, to lift off. Is this bad? Were my pre-flight settings probably wrong? Question 2: I tried to level off at around 1,000 feet, but I noticed I had some nose pitch, and altitude kept increasing. Do you think it was my spoiler setting? What should my spoiler be set at, for take off? [although now Im thinking it might have been my flaps set wrong. I was flipping buttons trying to re-acquaint myself with my sim controls.] more

I have a total of 2037 Physical memory, Cached: 1345 and Free: 29 as I type this. So first of all, does that low amount of free memory mean that applications and high-end games would be slower? Take flight sim for eg, earlier, when this PC was new, and I had it installed (that is when I had about 85 gigs free space), the game would work fine on medium settings. And that, by me, was perfectly sweet. Now, however, with my harddrive cluttered up with things, I have about 11 gigs space remaining, and now when I turn the game on, I can't even play the game on "very low" settings. That is, I get a screen rate of 5 fps, I'd guess. Because I couldn't get additional RAM, I tried the speed boost thing with some 4 gig space on it (using almost all of it for speedbost), yet the new cache system seems to work worse than before. Everything's slowed down. Mind, I had Norton both when the game worked fine and when it didn't. So I guess my question is (apart from "what the hell am I asking?"), what's going on here?Thank you both. My virtual memory is already set to 1.5 times, as also, my system startup takes about 5-7 seconds at the most (that is after I log in from the "switch user" screen; meaning, I have no startup programs enabled. Although I might desire to find norton the culprit, these guys have really evolved. What I'm going to try is defrag the drive. Hopefully that helps, rather than reinstalling windows. It's not that the files cannot be regained, I just do not want to go through that process since it's given me some hassles in the past (bad memory sectors - windows cannot install). At the moment my flight simulator 2004 is located on the C drive like most of my programs. It takes up about 4-5GB in space. Now, my C drive has about 27GB space but with all my programs on it there is only 2GB free!! Now my D drive have 23GB and 22GB free. Is there a way of moving my Flight Simulator from the C drive to the D drive which has more space and wont slow it down? more

Hi, I'm upgrading my wifes old computer to be able to run MS Flight Sim 2004. The game installs ok, but the graphics are a little blocky and slow to update. What would I need to upgrade this computer so it run Flight Sim nicely. (I'm not looking for top spec, but good graphics). The specs of the computer at moment are: Pakard Bell Desktop with Phillips Flat screen monitor. Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.93ghz, 1.18GB RAM. 143gb hard drive. Im not sure if its got a graphics card or not. Any advice on what to buy to get it running good and what to delete from it to free up more hard dik space. Hope you can help more

I am writing this in February and am 16 at the time. I have been studying everything in Gleims Private Pilots written test prep book for the past 8 months I have really studied hard making sure I know everything perfectly and I have taken the FAA knowledge test and I got a 100 on it. I know a great deal about airplanes from hundreds of hours in the sim over years so I know how one handles. I also have 5 hours of training so far. My plan was as follows: I currently live in Connecticut and this summer I will be living with my grandparents in North Carolina for 5-6 weeks doing nothing but flying. (its half the price down there) I will have absolutely no other commitments except flight training. I was planning on flying 1.5-2 hours a day 6 days a week. I have already found an instructor that would be willing to work with me and I have taken a lesson with him before and liked him. He thinks I can do it. During the time that I am not at the airport I will be studying from various flying books that I will be ordering off of sportys. (I will have tons of free time). From now until July when I go down there, I will also be studying from books taking as much knowledge as I can in. So I want to hear someone else's opinion on whether or not you think I can do this. When I play flight sim, I like to experience more than flying, i like the cars that drive by, and light bloom, and all that in X. My Dell Laptop ran the Flight Simulator X Demo on max settings, GRAPHICS ON THIS GAME WERE GREAT, except i had real bad frames. I want a free or cheap flight simulator that works with Vista 64-bit. Is the open-source FlightGear compatible? I hope so; I'm downloading it right now. Resolved Question: Program install files question. Could you help?

I have a question... When I install a game, on F drive or D drive, it puts some temporary install files on C Drive. Sometimes, it removes it and sometimes it doesn't. What do I do to clear the space? Example: I install Sim City or something on F Drive. It would take about .10 GB on C driver and delete it. If I were to install lets say Flight simulator, I install it, and it takes .15 GB and it takes that much without giving back free space. Even after I uninstalled it. How do I delete those temporary files? if any? more
