Open Question: Does anyone else feel like they did a crappy job making Miley look like her character Ronnie in The Last Song?

I'm reading the book, and I've only seen the trailer and stills from the movie, obviously. But in the book she's supposed to have brown wavy hair (which Miley does have) and a rebellious purple streak in her hair (which, as far as i can tell, she does NOT have) as well as a dark, almost anti-summer-ish style. Like, she usually wears jeans and a black shirt or something. And she isn't the girly type to wear a dress of something, either. She's also supposed to have this kind of smart a$s attitude. If the movie and book were written by Nicholas Sparks specifically for Miley, wouldn't you have thought that they would have done a better job of making her like the character she is supposed to portray? To me, i feel like this could be a good breakout role for her, doing something other than her Hannah Montana stuff. But she looks exactly the same in the movie as she does on her show and in real life, while it doesn't seem like her character is supposed to be so similar to Miley at all. Please don't post answers saying "Why do you care?" or "Miley sucks anyway." I'm just one of those nerds that really likes comparing books to the movies and stuff, and this is one that happens to intrigue me. :) Thanks for your [[serious]] answers!! more

This is my first chapter from my novel, Not-So-Secret Runaways, sort of a child-book suited better for ten to twenty year olds, but anyone can read it. Please don't critisize, but feel free to tell me if its good or if anything's bad. I know its a bit long (five pages) but read as much as you can and please tell me what you think!!! Here it goes: Okay, so, I wasn’t the one of thinking of running away. Technically, it was the evil mastermind I call my brain. It wasn’t exactly how I’d run away, but why. Every night, I had to lay out tomorrow’s clothes, change into pajamas and tell Cody that there was no monster underneath his bed. Then I could finally crawl over to my bed, only to wake up again to the same thing. Another thing was my name. I’m not exactly the commercial type of girl, but I don’t panic about pimples that haven’t happened yet, either. My hair is dark brown nearly to my elbows, and my piercing gray eyes look impossible against my pale skin-which basically made me avoid looking people in the eye most of the time. Most girls’ names I know are Tiffany or Lila or something normal-but no, I had to be named December. Mom always said it was a pretty name, since I was born in December and all. I guess it would be, if we lived on Planet Name-a-Month. And yet another thing about running away was my siblings. Cody’s the youngest; he’s only four, but he can dream up a lot of things already. There’s me, December Taylor-I’m only twelve-and Luke, who’s sixteen. I’m stuck in the middle. I had anything and everything planned out. I had packed up everything, I had picked my partners, but the thing was, I didn’t know where to run away to. This was California. Not as exciting as New York, but loud enough. Our condo was dangerously near Hollywood, in Los Angeles. One step out the door and some mob of girls might think you’re Zac Efron. But that’s where I planned to go. In Hollywood, you could put on a pair of sunglasses and walk around telling everyone you were a commercial hit star and everyone’d believe you. In Mellow Park Middle School, it was like every single student was rich and some child of a superstar. If they weren’t, they’d claim they were. We had a Hannah Montana sister here every other day. Okay. I know what you’re thinking. Running away, how irresponsible, blah, blah. Well, think what you want, but you’ve never seen my family bickers and arguments and things Luke did to Cody and Cody did to me. The plan started when mom told me about some tutoring class that’ll start next week she signed me up for. So, I thought it was time to start the plan and tell my partner. You had to pick carefully. Not someone who complained, but someone who were useful with things. Not someone who was lazy, but someone who liked to help. Not someone who was too loud, but someone who could keep a secret. And so that was why I picked Claudia Wellman. She was always quiet and had a book in front of her face, but in Physical Education, you would never guess she was ever quiet. If you’ve never seen Claudia run into P.E., you’ve never been truly frightened. She always had a crooked smile, more crooked than mine. She had hair the color of ravens that curled up when it touched her shoulder. We always shared side comments on things, like the class’s activities, but we were never truly close. We had too many differences on that part. Claudia was always quiet, I was outgoing. The only things we both had in common were we both loved to write and draw and we were on strike against math. And we both agreed boys were idiots. I knew Claudia had a hard life. Her parents were divorced and she had to live with one parent each month. She was only living here in Hollywood Square because her mom got a job as a receptionist at the Square Hotel, and she had three older brothers, all who basically ignored her. I had given the idea of running away a lot of thought. If I did run away, all my problems of home would be solved, but surely new problems would also come up, too. I could visit home from time to time, get some money or food and all-but right now, I wanted to be free of a boring life’s curse. I figured I could give it a shot. At lunch, while Claudia buried herself with Moby Dick, I picked up my lunch tray, took a deep breath, and sat down next to her. “Oh, hi, December,” she said, putting her book down, flashing her crooked smile. “Hey, Claudia,” I said, picking at my hamburger. “So, how’s life?” She sighed. “You know, the usual. Mom arguing, dad moving, brothers being stupid…things are going normal, basically.” We laughed, and then an awkward silence took hold. “Don’t you ever think of running away?” Claudia didn’t seem surprised. Before all the movies came out, I was young and naive and was in love with twilight and finished all 4 books in about a week. Then, everyday at school I heard people talking about it and reading it at break and lunch and stuff and everything was cool. Then, the first twilight movie came out, and everybody was ecstatic because "Edward was soooo hot!" or "Jacob is sooooo hot! Literally ;)" and it annoyed me a little. Then New Moon came out and I thought it was a good movie. I liked it and I'd see it again. But, I've recently been introduced to the Vampire Diaries, and am IN LOVE WITH IT! It's made me realize that twilight was very poorly written and that Edward is a stalker and Bella's a whiny over dramamtic... ick. I'm starting to think Stephanie Meyer took a little too much inspiration from OTHER vampire series. Since vampire diaries was written 14 years prior to Twilight was, the author could have very easily read it back then, and remembered it in her dream she had of twilight. I don't know. Just now, I am so sick of all the attention twilight it getting. Exact same thing with Hannah Montana. She got too drawn out and should have ended while she was on top. Twilight should have been 1 or two books. Everything would have been fine. Vampires are not supposed to sparkle, and really Hannah Montana? Trying out for the role of a duck? Having Fred on there? Yeah um.... Okay? Running out of ideas? Gah... What has the world come too? It seems like everybody is just too greedy and all they think about is money. What are you're opinions on this situation? Ok, I'm 12 and my mom asked me what I want a a big thing for Christmas (like $100). The problem: I have no clue what to get! I don't want an ipod, I hate hannah Montana, I don't want a trip to a place (there are no fun places where I live), and I can't find a book series I want to try (I finished twilight, percy jackson, and am in the middle of harry potter book 4) and one can only have so much pink lip gloss and sparkly eye shadow. I have a cell phone, And I already have dogs (but my mom thinks its a wase to buy things like clothes and purses for dogs) and she won't let me get another dog, and I don't play an instrument or sew and stink at art. I want some thing that could maybe be a hobby, or at least something to do.I write on my laptop. Gaming systems are OVER $100. I want SOME THING but my mom shoots down almost all ideas. Oh, and plus, what is up with people saying everyone should get an ipod? They are overpriced, it costs money to get music on it, and they BRAKE. Voting Question: Is there a career in noticing little mistakes in books, scripts, TV shows, movie sets, etc?

I am a perfectionist, and I always notice little details in books, like a misspelling or something that just doesn't make sense, a grammatical error, etc. and on TV shows where you can clearly see where two shots were spliced together to make one continuous scene because of a little mistake (recently watching Hannah Montana and there was a candy bowl taken out of the room, then in the next 30 seconds was back on a side table in the background) and I was wondering if there is a job in looking for mistakes like this. Is this what an editor does? I always thought editors had a much broader job than that, but I couldn't find anything that could tell me exactly who is in charge of things like that. If this is a really stupidly obvious question, feel free to say "duh," I am just curious as I am currently looking for something to major in that would be really useful for a career that I will really love and have a passion for. I cant believe I am asking this....but I need help finding a Hannah Montana toy for my daughter for Christmas. As much as I hate Hannah Montana, my 5 year old loves her. The only thing that she has asked for for Christmas this year is a Hannah Montana microphone that she can sing with. I have looked and looked, and the only ones I can find are a really crappy, "hear your voice on the radio" ones that my niece has, and it a piece of junk, and one that comes with a book, but it only plays the music, no voice to sing with. I found links to something called 'hannah montana: rockin’ concert microphone' which would be perfect for her, since she would get to sing along with it, but I cant find one to buy anywhere...not even ebay. This is really important!!!!!!!! I need a Christmas list in 5 days, or i will have nothing what-so-ever for Christmas!!!!!!!! Is it true that guys honestly do like girls who are individuals like it is in movies and books and things? I am a really unique, deep person though i don't show the deepness around all people. My daughter is super spoiled..not by me but by her father. (divorced) At his house she has the nintendo ds, wii, ps2, american girl dolls...blah blah blah! My husband and I dont think that she needs to have all of these things at our house so we have not purchased them. She shows interest in crafty things and we have purchased a ton of that stuff but, it always turns into my craft cause she looses interest in it so fast. She like to play house and teacher but its more or less just to boss her little brother and cousin around. she has out grown the baby dolls and never showed interest in barbies. she has a ton of board games. she just started to read chapter books so that is an option but, we are at a loss as to what else to get for her for xmas. she like hannah montana, wizards of waverly and suite life however, we dont allow her to sit in front of the tv so she doesn watch them at my house...she does at her dads. Alright so, I'm 21, and my boyfriend is 23, we've been together for a little over 3 years, and everything's been really good, up until about a year ago...my boyfriend started this band, and I'm really confused! He's playing this kind of music called "metal heavy" or something like that, I don't remember, lol, I listen to bands and singers like, Lady Gaga, MCR, Hannah Montana, and so on, and I get their music! But his music I just like, don't understand, I've asked him what his songs are about and he says there about his outlook on life, how he feels bout religion and things like that, wtf?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Shouldn't he just like, sing about having fun in life? Oh and other thing, he got his lip pierced. O_o IS THIS NORMAL?! I mean, he still acts like the same guy I started dating 3 years ago, but his band is SO WERID! WHAT'S METAL HEAVY!?!?! I saw online that there were original Hannah Montana Novels by Suzanne Harper and Hannah on Tour Book. I was just wondering if there were ebooks online or some way to access them? Unfortunately, I'm in Aus and the books ain't available here, so can't get them at the book store.If you know if these books are coming to Australia- could be please give a release date, thanks. more
