April Wine Questions asked

Open Question: What drink pairs well with plank grilled salmon?

I'm coordinating a gathering among friends and family in late April and am looking to serve Plank Grilled Salmon with a miso glaze. I'm wondering what cocktails or drinks would go well with that dish. I was thinking of a ginger beer (equal parts tsingtao beer and ginger beer) but I'm not sure that would best compliment the flavors of the dish. I'm ideally looking for 1-2 cocktails and a wine/beer choice each. Ideally I'm looking for a cocktail to serve during the prep (before the meal) and a wine/beer choice during. Thanks! more

Resolved Question: How Can I Live Forever?

I am 5'11'', 271 lbs (was 40 pounds heavier six months ago), on Caloric Restriction losing 1-2 pounds a week. My daily supplement regiment is 3600 mg Fish Oil, 1 Men's Multivitamin, 25 mg DHEA, 180 mg Red Wine Extract (grape seed resveritrol), and today I'm adding 1 mg Garlic extract (equal to 1000 mg actual garlic). In the evening I take 1500 mg Calcium with vitamin D, 1 generic colon cleansing tablet. My daily job give me a light low impact workout and I'm single. I want to live long enough until science discovers human negligible senescence. I'll be 45 this April but most tell me I look to be in my early 30's. Any suggestions as to improving my regiment and my chances of living forever? (I would even consider getting a dog if I didn't work 12 hours a day.) more

Resolved Question: I have a question about the dining plan at Disneyland?

We are going to Disneyland April 5th-12th (2 Adults only). We have a 5 day hopper to Disneyland and Cali Adventure Park, plus bought admissions/transports to Legoland and Knott's Berry Farm. Being as I can start making meal reservations, I just want to know from people who have been there they're opinion on certain dining experiences. We will have a meal plan, the Mickey's meal plan which gives us 15 meals for 5 days, and a snack per day. I really want to make reservations at Blue Bayou, Wine Country, Hook's Pointe, Storyteller Cafe, Ariel's Grotto, and the Plaza Inn. Has anyone ate here? Do these places accept the Disneyland Meal Plans? Do we have to pay gratuity? How much is alcoholic beverages? Also what is the weather like in California at the beginning of April? more

Resolved Question: What are the extra costs for a cruise to mexico?

I've never been, and I have been trying to do some research. We are planning to go with our $4,500 tax return. We are thinking of going on RC 7 night to mexico. We are trying to do this as cheap as possible. Here is what I have figured my budget would be so far, but I don't know if this is realistic. Balcony room: 1498 (729 each person) Fuel charge: 160 (because the texas fuel company is charging more then $65 a barrel right now) Taxes & Fees: 500 (I really don't know about this one, they say port charges are included, but I can't find anything more about what taxes would cost) Tips: 150 (10/day per person) Gas: 280 (round trip from Portland oregon to LA) Car parking: 100 (for 8 days at the port?, $12/day) Drinks: 200 (because we are allowed a couple bottles of wine and we will sneak in a corkscrew and flask) Massage: 200 (because we want to, and Ive read that they give discounts when in port...is this true?) Snorkeling in Cabo: 140 (I found a separate company aside from what is offered by the cruise ship, that will pick you up at port and drive you back and forth) Total: 2928...is this realistic for what I have listed? What else should I consider? I have yet to think of what other off shore excursions we could do in Puerto Vallarta and Mazatian, but I know it will be cheaper to find them ourselves instead of going through the cruise ship. Also we are planning on going in May, Im trying to avoid spring break and Hurricane season but also have nice weather...is this a good month to go? Im thinking spring break is more like March and April? more

Voting Question: Is my boyfriend an alcoholic or an addict?

Hi, I am 20 years old. I have been in an on and off again relationship with my boyfriend of 4 years. He is EVERYTHING I would want in a man and I could definitely see myself marrying and starting a family with him, EXCEPT when he drinks. I am not sure if Al-Anon is right for me or not. Here is my situation, just about EVERYTIME he has drank in the past he has been an "angry drunk". But only towards me, I was told that even before we were together--he was that way. Are some people just genetically predetermined to be this way? Anyways, it has ALWAYS been a huge issue everytime one of these "incidents" has taken place. He has driven with me many times while being extremely intoxicated and this past April we got into a car accident when he refused to let me drive, he was going about 60 around a turn and we flipped twice. His insurance company came back to say it was a tire blow out and they paid in full for his whole car. At first he was EXTREMELY apologetic and I didn't see him for weeks. Then he continued to take responsibility for his actions, until he heard back from the insurance company. Several times throughout our relationship I have broken up with him for weeks or gone on a break for long amounts of time. Everytime he tells me that he PROMISES he will not EVER drink again and will be able to do this. Which he has proved himself for very LONG amounts of time, whether it be 6 months or even a year, but eventually we go out again and it inevitably happens again. We have tried him only drinking beer, only having a few drinks, only drinking wine, only drinking certain types of alcohol, and even him taking a Xanex because it seemed to make him a more "happy drunk". I have told him time and time again that I would be able to completely stop and NEVER again touch a drop in my life for him, as long as he is able to do this. Because I don't want to tempt him, we have gone LONG periods of time without going out.. In order to not put him in a setting where he is tempted to drink. Our generation is FILLED with drinkers, almost everyone I knew at the University of Oklahoma drank--athletes, book worms, or people in Sororities or Fraternities. On New Years, I asked him if it was okay if I had a drink and he said yes, if he could have one at midnight. I stupidly agreed, I always have faith in the fact that he can ONLY have one drink or suppress his anger. You would think by now I would have come to the understanding that hes NOT ever going to change, but I still haven't. I do not by any means think that he is the definition of an "alcoholic" because he is able to completely cut drinking out of his life for long periods of time. But I don't know WHAT I would classify this as. I just know that as many people that I have been around drinking throughout my entire life, NEVER have I met one that is just an "angry drunk" like he is! It is like a switch just goes off in his head and we go from having a great time to him being extremely rude. I broke up with him in an attempt for both of us to better our lives... Which he realizes he has anger management issues and has been going to see a therapist, reading books (which he hasn't done since he was 9), and choosing to live with his mom this semester when he could easily go live with a bad influence and make bad decisions. When he quit drinking, he began smoking marijuana. It started out occasionally, turned into only at nights, and recently his parents have been going through a divorce and he has found out some pretty disturbing things--it turned into him smoking ALL the time. I feel like I can't even begin to explain his personality and all the things he has done over the years but anything he does, it always has to be to the EXTREME! How do I convince him that he has an ADDICTIVE personality and that there IS a problem?? His argument is always that "He could go cold turkey at ANY time and does not have a serious problem". I just want to get through to him, any advice whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks. Any info whatsoever would also be helpful on this topic. I want to be able to print off verifiable evidence of WHY I think he is an addict, even though he doesn't fit the perfect description of one. I want him to REALIZE he has a problem and why. more

Resolved Question: Secluded and charming European beach get away on a budget?

My girlfriend and I are looking for a relaxing European (or slightly further a field if bargains are to be had) get away for a few days in April and I'm looking for ideas on where to go. What I would like: Quiet and secluded Idyllic beautiful scenery Local culture Good local and reasonably priced food Simple bars with good wine/ cold beer My ideal day will involved breakfast with a few people milling around A stroll to a quite beach for some relaxing in the sun and sea and afternoon bike ride Simple restaurant overlooking the sea with maybe 20 other guests Repeat as necessary till sufficiently relaxed. I want to avoid like the plague: Strips of cheesy bars Anything that attracts anything remotely like a stag or hen party Crowds of people sitting on rows of plastic furniture eating 'English Breakfast' from 'Joe's English Pub' I was looking at Malta but saw a few videos on youtube and was really under whelmed by what I saw. We are running to a tight budget so the likes of the Maldives although very appealing are completely out of the question. I'm 26 and my girlfriend older but I'm more Radio 4 than club 18-30.... Any help and ideas much appreciated. more

Resolved Question: My dog is too attached to me?

Hi guys so we have had my dog Seriyah since she was 6 weeks. A foster, mom was no where to be found, and we eventually adopted her. SHe got sick with parvo and worms so every 2 hours I would have to give her meds, and feed her. She either slept with my parents or me. As she got bigger she decided to take tunrs sleeping with me or my parents. Any way she sleeps with me now, and at night if she is not touching me, she will wine and come curl herself up to me, she likes for me to be right next to her. If I go from my room, to the living room, she follows me, long story short she follows me every where, which I don't mind because I will miss her little paw steps behind me when she's gone, which I don't even want to think of.....any way When I went on vacation in July '09 I took her with me for a month. When we got home Elvis was growling at her and wouldnt let her move, could he have forgotten her scent? Another thing in late April to mid May I am going on vacation my cousin's son's birthday is in April, and she is due to have a baby in May. I am afraid to leave Seriyah here (I can't take her this time) she might go in deep depression and who knows what will happen. She follows me every where, doesnt let me out of her sight, and has to be touching me when she sleeps. If I am going on vacation how will my parents care for her? She isnt that attached to them as she is with me, and why did Elvis try to atack her? Help more

Resolved Question: Shoddy - poem, rhyme, sumptun like 'at c/c?

Shoddy It was the fourteenth night in the month of April when Shoddy came to town And he showed up at my door with his faithful, filthy hound Shoddy was the bad coin, and I never knew when nor where he would appear He always had his hand out, and his hound was always near I had to treat Shoddy, when others were around, like he was a cherished friend Though all the while I had plotted to bring it to an end Was eighteen years before, and he and I - we were under dire circumstance Had came upon a scene that seemed to give us both a chance A coach had wrecked along the road and the passengers, all three of them lay dead The driver, he called out for help, but I knocked him in the head We plundered all the treasures - was enough gold to live like the gentry did Within a year, Shoddy drank his share, but my gold I hid I made good with my ill-gained wealth, walked in finer circles, drank the finer wine Investments paid three times or more, my past was all behind But with wealth and social rise, happiness escaped as though I had the plague For the driver's voice came to me from deep within his grave So on the fourteenth night in the month of April, I brought it all to an end Shoddy was to blackmail me - not now nor ever again. I handed to him everything, gave it all to Shoddy and his filthy hound I even left the horses and walked slowly into town Confessed my crime of long ago, the burden left though I not free and clear And Shoddy drank my wealth away, at least that's what I hear.Good Mornin', Ma! Great to have you back! And thanks!Really kind answers, everyone! To Sandy's query, I wasn't saving them until my brother read a few & asked that I do. That's why it started to become more important to get them right. I'm now counting syllables - which is totally new to me, although the meter thing still eludes. That's why I so thoroughly admire those to whom it comes so easily. All in all, I guess I'm just a story-teller & will never be a real Poet. Old dogs trying to learn new tricks - we be hard to teach. Resolved Question: Why are there similarities between Mithraism and Christanity?

There were many additional points of similarity between Mithraism and Christianity. St. Augustine even declared that the priests of Mithraism worshiped the same God as he did: Followers of both religions celebrated a ritual meal involving bread. It was called a missa in Latin or mass in English. Both the Catholic church and Mithraism had a total of seven sacraments. Epiphany, JAN-6, was originally the festival in which the followers of Mithra celebrated the visit of the Magi to their newborn god-man. The Christian Church took it over in the 9th century. Twelve followers There are many parallels between Mithraism and Christianity. These include the central figures of each religion having virgin births celebrated on the same date (December 25th), the stories of Christ and Mithra as children being visited by shepherds, the trinity, and the immortal soul. Mithraism was popular in the Roman administered regions before the advent of Christianity, and some have theorized that these themes were transferred to early Christianity by proponents of Mithraism. Early Christians initiated converts in March and April by baptism. Mithraism initiated their new members at this time as well. An inscription to Mithras reads: "He who will not eat of my body and drink of my blood, so that he will be made on with me and I with him, the same shall not know salvation." 1 In John 6:53-54, Jesus is said to have repeated this theme: "...Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day." (KJV) In Attis, a bull was slaughtered while on a perforated platform. The animal's blood flowed down over an initiate who stood in a pit under the platform. The believer was then considered to have been "born again." Poor people could only afford a sheep, and so were literally washed in the blood of the lamb. This practice was interpreted symbolically by ChristiansKilling and resurrection Miracles Morality Mankind's savior Known as the Light of the world Dionysus was literally the "Son of God", was born of a virgin mother, and was commonly depicted riding a donkey. He healed the sick and turned water to wine. He was killed but was resurrected and became immortal. His greatest accomplishment was his own death, which delivers humanity itself. Is there any originality in Christianity? more

Resolved Question: "Glasgow" a poem inspired by Ginsberg's "America" (with ending) any comments?

Glasgow you could not afford me the spare change For the ferryman's boat. Glasgow a packet of lights and some Earl Grey April 26th, 2008. Glasgow the green leaf of the Botanics And the silver dollar of the whore's ghetto. I have breached the walls of insanity and let out the chaos. Glasgow when will you rebuild the fire? Fuck the City Chambers and the dead statues of George Square. Fuck the traffic cops and the paranoid delinquents. I write to feel alive for Blair's Britain has killed me. Glasgow when will you show me your nakedness? When will you flower in the light? When will you adopt your prodigal sons? Glasgow why do you shit in your own streets? Glasgow when will you be true to your word? I'm admonished of your intolerable sin. When can I reach for the sky above the designer labels And executive coffee houses with my honurable intentions? Glasgow you swim in the twilight of heroin And the sawdust of greatness and I am but the poet of your vanity. Your heart is what is left of me. You speak like the widow at her husband's funeral. There must be thoughts in the anger you possess. Quinn is in Amsterdam with his summer delight And the prostitute's cream. Are you watching the barge on Maryhill canal Or is this just some of your banter? I'm willing to forgive you. I want to rejoice in your happiness. Glasgow shout no more for I am but a stranger In your docklands. Glasgow the thistle has struck you down. I didn't seek your truth for your bosom is swelling With stabbings and murders. Glasgow some of the most beautiful woman walk by your side. Glasgow I was a revolutionary But then I never had your stubborn pride. I watch him talk with the dragon at every chance I get. I stand by your estuary for hours and hours And gaze at the gathering of grey herons on the shore. When I go to the Barras my mother waits and I feel at home. My head is the lost city of Sodom. You are the witness as I read Rimbaud in your parks. My psychologist got divorced and is now in therapy. I say the Lord's Pray every day. I have gifts of bread and wine and lateral visitations of an alien kind. Glasgow I listen to you and you confess what happened To Marlene, 7th October 1997, as she jumped From the Towers of Barlanark. I'm speaking to you Are you going to survive And let your heart be ruled By the malignant suit in the black wagon. I'm obsessed with sanity. I search for her all the time And when I find her she looks at me form behind a glass door, Desperate to be return to her family. I see her in the face of my sister and my brother But she is always unchained. I am unchained. God is unchained. I think I belong to Glasgow. Bush is fighting with me In the land of the free Perpetuating the material disease As Sheriden the hope of the radical few Fucks swingers, as the sweat breaks the fake Suntan of his blemished skin. What do I have but a box of valium, thousands Of poems awaiting my death and publication, The sight of an Osprey on Loch Chon And twelve days and counting in an asylum. I whisper nothing of my illusions nor my beliefs Nor the multitude who chase poverty down the street And who are housed in the bins of the rich And whose only recourse to justice is prison or rehab. I have banned the brothels of Charing Cross, St Enoch And Venus will be the last. My ambition is to die having been loved. Glasgow what do I write in your elegy to celebrate your heroism? I will go on like Napoleon, my struggle as significant As his defeat. Glasgow solace and honesty does not come cheap. I'll give you both for a grand. Glasgow release Rose Gentle. Glasgow save St. Mungo. Glasgow your addicted sons and buckfast daughter must not die. Glasgow I am the Anderston girls. Glasgow when I was eight my father took me to church Where they told stories of Jesus sang on the rickety piano Drew his picture on fine paper knelt in sermon and prayer Conversed with the old and dying babtised the unfaithful And I would look up to the roof above me and watch as it opened And proclaimed me the second Christ. Everybody must have been an unbeliever. Glasgow don't drown with your salmon. Glasgow it's them Corporate Capitalists. Them Corporate Capitalists them Corporate Capitalists And them Muslims and them Corporate Capitalists. The Corporate Capitalist wants to carve your spirit out Of your bricks and mortar. Their ruthless. They want everything Even the Orchids in your Glasshouses. He wants the land on which you were born, the people who love you To march on his wheel to keep it turning. He wants "Big Brother" To move in and live with us. He wants to eat the bones Of this city in his gluttony. If not then what, packing shelves in Iceland or perhaps Farmfoods To pay for his robes of gold? Glasgow stand for your people. Glasgow you are what you have made me. Glasgow am I right? I must leave you now. It's true I don't want to touch the Devil's cloth Or(Ending) Or serve customers in a sandwich bar, I'm hopeless And too psychotic by far. Glasgow I'm finally turning my blind eye the other way. more

Resolved Question: Care to read over my college essay?

(it needs to be shorter. What can I take out?) Generally, a wannabe Jew would avoid a United Methodist camp. But when you’re sixteen and your dad finds you a job, you take it. It hits you though, once you become the only person on permanent kitchen duty because you let it slip that you prefer Moses to Jesus, that this could be the hardest thing you’ve ever done. This was my situation: I was desperately trying to live my love of Judaism in a place where people would ask earnestly if I spoke “Jewish”. I quickly figured out that the only way to survive the ignorance at Gretna would be to remove it; to teach. And in teaching, I learned. I told people to ask me questions, and they did, all of them, everyday. If I didn’t know the answer, I looked it up. I came away from Jesus Camp knowing more about Judaism than most of the campers left camp knowing about the Holy Ghost. The teaching started long before I moved into the staff house in June. In April, as a sort of trial run, I had to spend two days trying to keep a bunch of five-to-seven year olds from running on the trails and throwing rocks. The overnight bit fell on the first night of Passover. Despite my situation, I decided to make Passover happen anyway. There was, of course, nothing remotely Seder plate-like within miles, and looking in the woods for something that might be a bitter herb probably wouldn’t end well. I had in my charge, though, a group of kids who had all probably seen The Prince of Egypt at least twice. I could make it work. In Philadelphia, if you can see six stars, you’re lucky. It’s one thing I hate most about the city. The camp sky, however, was Jackson Pollock-ed with stars and a big, fat moon. We didn’t even need flashlights until we got into our cabins. “What did you notice about the moon?” I asked my cabin. “It was big!” hollers one girl. “It was full,” corrects another. “Right, big moon. Now, how many of you have seen The Prince of Egypt?” There was a collective squeal of affirmation. I bit my cheek, worried that the head counselor might dime me out if I started carrying on about Jewish tradition. Was I losing my best shot at a summer job? Perhaps, shrugged my mind. I unclenched my jaw. “There’s a holiday that starts tonight.” Girls hung over the edges of their bunks to hear me. “It’s called Passover.” I told them everything I knew, starting from The Prince of Egypt. We imagined the Seder plate as I explained it. I pulled out a haggadah. “Baruch Atah Adonai” was like a spell I cast over them. I told them that they should always ask questions; why it was good. We all took long sips of wine in our minds and fell soundly asleep. So was the teaching. The next day went like any camp day. Let’s sing a song. We have to go this way. Please don’t throw rocks. At arts and crafts we made Mother’s Day cards. One of the girls gave me a makeshift envelope. I wasn’t allowed to open it until camp was over. Eventually, it was finally dinner. While the kids tucked into pasta with meat sauce and dinner rolls, I munched banana. Across from me, the girl who had given me the card was becoming the Sistine Chapel to Michelangelo’s spaghetti sauce masterpiece. “Hey Laura,” she chirped. “What’s up?” “You’re not eating spaghetti because it has flour.” I looked at her. I didn’t say anything. I just looked. She giggled. “It’s Passover.” "Yeah,” Slowly, I smiled. “Yeah, it’s Passover.” Inwardly, I was stunned that maybe they had actually learned. I couldn’t help a laugh. Nothing was funny, but something was good. On my way home, I pulled out the card. “Happy Pay Sock!” the pink marker screamed. I didn’t feel so hungry anymore. That was how I learned to teach; how I learned that I had to. That was the beginning; the beginning of teaching, of learning, and of becoming myself. Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, I think I'm just going to scratch this thing and start way WAY over. note to self: don't try to make app essays happen at 2 am. more

Resolved Question: Lookin for some newer rock/metal?

Currently, about 90% of the bands i'm listening to are from late 60's to late 80's. I find nothing wrong with it, I just see room for improvement. Until just recently(few weeks ago), my view towards current rock or metal bands was dissapointing. But a friend of mine just showed me some bands that changed my opinion. So what I am asking from you Yahoo Answers people is to help me out a bit, give me some bands that are newer or that at least are still together actively touring and crankin out albums. To give you a glimpse of my musical taste, here is a list of some bands I listen to: Aerosmith Black Sabbath AC/DC Judas Priest Iron Maiden Megadeth Whitesnake April Wine Queensryche The Cars The Who Slayer Ratt Quiet Riot Tom Petty Twisted Sister Alcatraz Oasis Billy Joel Billy Idol Billy Squier Blue Oyster Cult Machine Head Creed Def Leppard Heart Pat Benetar Pantera Pink Floyd Rainbow Guns N Roses Scorpions Queen Lynyrd Skynyrd Styx Reo Speedwagon Sweet Van Halen Motley Crue Metallica Y&T Korn Kix Journey Disturbed Flyleaf 3 Days Grace Ok, so maybe more than just a glimpse, more like an overview but the list isnt complete if it was all the bands I listen to. Thanks in Advance to any responses or even for just taking the time to read this question. If have any questions, just ask in the question forum and I'll respond soon as I can.edit: no screamo please more

Voting Question: I'm looking for a song that has the lyrics: "...Holly, Holly Would..."?

The song I heard is a very dark hard rock song. The only thing that I can remember is the phrase "holly would you get it on" and the phrase "holly, holly would." I have been searching like crazy and all I can find is this song by April wine called Holly would, but she is not a hard rock singer/writer and i cant find any covers. The name of the song matched as well as some of the lyrics but it still seems to be a little off. I have found an All Time Low song, and that isn't even close to the same song. all time low is some emo sounding punk band. I found a papa roach song as well, but that is not it, although it is a lot closer. If it helps anyone the main singer of the band sounded a lot like eminem. That leads me to think it was a group called Hollywood undead, but again I cant find the song. This is driving me nuts so please let me know if you have this track or know what it is. more

Resolved Question: how do you like my short story(please rate even if you dont like it?"?

Blue on sight on which the trembling river shook as the thunderous sky roared with thunder overhead. A man stood at the tip of the bench staring at the sky. He buttoned his coat and trailed into the forest. He walked towards paths to passageways, discovering a small round shaped hut hidden under some leaves and trees. He stiffened himself and entered without regret. A man at the corner of the hut lay flat on some leaves and a sofa resting, unnoticing the stranger that just come in. He clustered his hands together tightly, and then knocked him on the other side of the head. The man lying down fell to the ground, battering himself against a log that stood at the side. He was unconscious, motionless, only his breathing took place. The stranger picked him up, over his shoulder and walked steadily towards the bank of the sea. The man pondered for an instant, then, in all of abrupt, heaved him over the river. Unnoticed that the unconscious man was indeed his father. The next morning of the first week of April, the stranger pulled up by the side of the sidewalk carrying a brown duffle bag filled with laundry. He paced himself onto the stairs of the porch and roughly unlocked the front door, leaving it open. Threw the duffle on top of the kitchen counter, opening the fridge door by the handle and seizing an ice cream sandwich, holding it smoothly between his hand. He left towards the coffee table in the living room, picking up the mail and reading it aloud, as he always does. “To: James Cooper, from Leslie Hambul.” He took a bite from the ice cream sandwich and opened the letter carefully. James unwrapped the paper and held it up high, to his eyes. “Dear James,” He read. “It is my pleasant surprise to invite you to my birthday party, this Saturday at my house. You should know where I live James, you’ve been there before. And you could invite a few people, if you want. So see ya there and goodbye. Sincerely, Leslie Hambul. P.S, Bring a dish of food or a bottle of wine.” He set the letter on the table and sat himself off the edge of the sofa, reaching for the remote and turning on the television. “This is channel news on channel 12,” said the weather man holding a stack of papers in his hands. James looked blank, curling his lips into his mouth. He became aware of the man he tossed into the river, was on the news. “Attempted murder they said, was on this man that was found floating on the Habersham river, unconscious and bruised. His name is John Cooper and was discovered 7:50 this morning,.” The news man said while a commercial started. He sat upright thinking into his head, starting to murmur something curious to himself. “They’ll never catch me,” said James with a smile creeping onto his face. “I’ve never been caught. I can’t be caught,” he laughed menacingly turning off the television and kicking up his legs on top of the couch. It was three 3 0’ clock in the afternoon on a Saturday, James was at Leslies party sitting with her and a couple of friends on a table next to the pool eating chicken and rice. Leslie wore an elegant small dress, covering her knees and tulip wrapped in her hair. James turned to her, seeing she was still speaking her cousin, but still spoke to her. “Happy birthday Leslie.” She turned her head and smiled to him, James smiled back. Then turned her head at her cousins. He then got up, rerouting himself around the tables and skipping over toys, laid across the dewed grass. He reached into the punch bowl and poured himself a drink, noticing a figure, across the yard. “Its him? It can’t be him,” James looked astonished to see, that the man he threw in the river was in fact there, standing next a branch of tree hugging his shoulder. He went back to the table and took Leslies arm and moved her. “whatcha do that for?” Said Leslie giving him a scowl look. “No time, who’s that man over there?” “You silly, he’s your father don’t you remember.” James dropped onto the grass, hearing voices all around him, saying, “Is he ok, what happened to him.” Then in a sudden woke up in his bedroom, feeling dizzy and nauseous. Opened his eyes and said. “It was all a dream, or was it?” He stood upright and headed towards the calendar hanging from his kitchen fridge. Today was Friday, a day before her birthday, and he sat on the table and was relieved. He closed the front door of the porch and went to bed. more

Resolved Question: Is swine flu now more powerful than God?

The Bishop of Chelmsford, the Right Reverend John Gladwin, said at some churches people were invited make a sign of the cross using holy water. "The water in stoups can easily become a source of infection and a means of rapidly spreading the virus," he said. In a directive to priests in Essex, he added: "It is not our intention at this stage to cause panic." He said priests should also advise members of their congregation who have flu-like symptoms to stay at home. Face masks The Bishop also issued advice about taking holy communion warning if anyone had flu-like symptoms not to "drink wine from the chalice". He assured congregations that they could receive full holy communion by just taking the wafer of bread. He discouraged pastoral visits and said if a visit was necessary priests should wear sterile gloves, an apron and a face mask. Chaplain Chris Newlands added: "People need to be reassured that the church is doing everything it can to stop the spread of infection." The advice comes as swine flu-related deaths in the UK rose to 17. On Tuesday, a post-mortem examination ruled that a GP who died after contracting it was not killed by the virus. Nearly 200,000 concerned people have contacted NHS Direct since April.Kinda ironic isn't it? One would think that if Holy Water would repel demons then, it should kill the swine flu. Is swine flu just simply more powerful than God?http://www.news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/.../8151427.stm - 10 hours ago - SimilarEDIT: Basically, what this shows is that even this bishop knows that Science is more trustworthy than mere faith. Science was the basis for this ban, not Godly knowledge. more
