Resolved Question: Help name our glass engraving business?

We are starting a Glass Engraving Business and I thought I'd ask for help brainstorming some catchy name ideas...... We hand engrave/etch using a rotary tool - the tool allows us to carve into glass creating a frosted look.. we engrave names, greetings, quotes, logos, designs, artwork, etc on Vases, Candy Jars, Fish Bowls Mirrors, Candle holders, Canisters, Drinking glasses and Bar ware (wine glasses, shot glasses, beer mugs, etc) Basically we can engrave any font, any artwork on any glass... Customers can pick their glass piece, a font and or art design from our website or they can send in a glass piece, font and or design of there own.... Most of our glass is obtained from thrift stores, yard sales, antique stores etc but not all of it (probably 90%) should I incorporate the "green" "earth friendly message into my business name or tag line??? I have come up with a couple ideas but thought I would get some ideas from other creative minds.... Some keywords that might help..... reflections, carvings, creations, designs, engraving, glass, choice I would like to come up with a play on words or something that is fun and memorable without using or names or initialsMiked - I like your sense of humor; but I'm afraid that name would probably not sit well with my target audience =)Massimo - Thanks for the reply! I really liked Etched in Glass; simple and to the point yet catchy and memorable - unfortunately someone else liked it too.. I googled it and it's been used... My fiance and I are researching information on starting a home based glass etching / engraving business... I am a bit confused on copyright laws as we will not be mass producing any one item.. Most of our items will be custom made with a saying, symbol, and / or personalization.. I know we are safe with engraving Happy Birthday John on a glass or even etching a flower or other standard symbol but what about licensed logos like disney characters, NFL logos etc...... For example If someone requests the FSU logo to be etched onto a wine glass or Tinkerbell on a candy jar am I allowed to do this? Would I have to buy licensing rights just for the few products that may be requested? Please help answer this question or guide me to a website that will answer it - Thanks !!! more

hello! my Bf will be 30 this month, we have been together for 2 years now. during this time i did a lot of presents (cologne, skin care for men, clothes, bathrobe with his initials engraved on it, expensive booze) so i kinda running of ideas and i dont want to repeat myself. also i cant buy him jewelry cause he worked in the jewelry store and has everything he needs. also it is expensive for me. So im looking to spend 200 to 100 hundred.. my friend advised me to buy him a pair of nice crystal glasses with a wine may be, but i dont know if hes gonna like it.. What do you think? My grandma has had these wine glasses for a while and i cant find out how much they are. there is 18 glasses in total. 3 sizes (large medium small). My grandma thinks they are bohemia or something. The have a grapevine pattern engraved on the gold banded area and they are ruby glass i think with normal glass handle with a nice pattern on the handle. Ok, so my best friend and I are planning a surprise for my parents and his parents anniversary. We are trying for this Wednesday night. I will tell you what we have planned so far.... I want to get them a nice gift, so I was thinking maybe some engraved wine glasses, with a cheese knife and board or something like that, but we want something for both sets of parents, and I don't really want it to be tacky to give them the same thing. So would that be a tacky gift?? Also, it is a family tradition in their family to get something for the kids too, so I got the cutest dress for his little sister too. And what is a good place to get some good cheap cheese and crackers? What about just at HEB?? ours has some really good cheese and some pretty good crackers. Heck, we have some right now, and I can sneak it out. Oh, we might be going to their house that night so I have to sneak this all in my purse, which is pretty big, but still,..... with gift bags and paper..... Also, what is something every mom needs? Because my mom broke her batter bowl years ago, and I want to order her another one, but I want to get my best friends mom something too, but I can't call to see what is something she absolutely needs....., so she is a mom of a 15 year old boy, and an 8 year old girl. I want to get them something they will actually like and not just pretend to like and never use. Last year i got them a set of modern crystal glasses, which they loved. My parents are in their late forties and aren't really interested in soppy things with poems written on they prefer more thoughtful useful thing with some sentimental value (so engraved jewellery/cufflinks/etc out the question). Any suggestions on a website in the UK that does engraving at a reasonable price? I have some wine glasses that need to be engraved for our wedding, but everywhere I've asked are asking around £5 per glass and I don't really want to spend that much! Also, in case you wondering why I don't buy an engraving kit and do it myself, i'm terrible at craft so thats defintely out of the question! So you think that I would be happy today? Well I'm not! Nobody really shared my excitment with me. Well, that's not entirely true, my parents took me out to the local chinese restaurant for lunch. It was planned weeks in advance. Am I wrong to feel disappointed that when I walked into the restaurant it was empty? I mean I am grateful that my parents thought of me & cared enough to invite me to lunch, but I kind of expected all my friends & relatives to be there too-& they weren't. After-all it is my 40th? I'm feeling quite hurt & disappointed to be honest, but also guilty because at least my parents made the effort. They gave me a card & a badge which said 40 on it & a tiny red cloth bag which I thought had jewellery in it-it was $20 worth of $1 & $2 gold coins, she said she thought it was a better idea than putting a $20 note in the card. Am I wrong to have expected something a little more extravagent? or something to mark the occassion such as a nice engraved wine glass or something? Maybe my hopes were too high, but I don't think my hopes were unreasonable, or were they? So, I thought well atleast my partner will get me something nice, after all I've been raving on in such excitement for ages now about my 40th! Well he was complaining that my birthday fell on the day before his payday, I simply said to him weeks earlier, "how hard is it to keep some money aside or buy me my present earlier'? Previous birthdays have all been quite disappointing with his excuses like 'I give you money out of my pay already, you can get yourself something' or 'I didn't get time to get you anything because I've been working' or 'I couldn't get you anything because I didn't get a very good pay this week'. Anyway this time he had plenty of time to plan. plenty! So, the big day arrives. He texts me 'Happy Birthday' at 7.30am, then at 3pm I saw him at the local shops, he just withdrew his pay from the ATM machine & had been to the Bottlo-first I waited for the compliment, I just paid $100 to have my hair cut, coloured & styled & also got my ears peirced a 2nd time & I was all dressed up with nice pants, neat shirt & boots. He's dressed in shorts, singlet, thongs & chewing on part of a BBQ chicken he got from the local takeaway. I said "I thought we were going out to dinner"? He said "Well I've only got $50 left after I pay my rent, so we can't go out unless I don't pay the rent". He didn't say "Happy Birthday" or "Wow, you look nice" he didn't even say "How are you"? He didn't have a present for me or even a card for me! I was disgusted, absolutley disgusted. I said "Pay your fucking rent!!!" & I walked off. He didn't call out to me. I went home & was at home for about an hour when he rang on the phone-I didn't answer it! That was 2 hours ago. Am I wrong to feel the way I do? So, I'm sitting here with my cats (animals are always the best 'people' to be with) & having a couple of drinks & mucking around on the computer. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! & FUCK THE REST OF THE "HAPPY BIRTHDAYS.Well Bamabell, now am I suppose to feel guilty? I do everything for these a-sholes in my life & I'm not appreciated-they may as well not be there! YES I expected more than I got-but I expected what every other average person gets. Happy birthday to you too-(whenever it is)Righto so I come accross as a selfish b-tch. Stuff everyone! I'm turning the computer off & I'm going out on the town!!! more
