Open Question: Do you like this poem?
To Jog at 5 AM Before I’d call it morning But past the point I’d call it night Every day I wake from murky dreams To the scream of an impatient alarm clock And the snores of a sleeping sun. I amble awkwardly, jerkily, sleepily To a silent kitchen and Tug open the door of a wheezing refrigerator And chilled light blossoms in the darkness. I sip on bottled water like most might sip on wine For a moment accompanied by the fridge’s grumbles Before I dive into the bowels of this dark and silent house. I bind my feet with elderly sneakers And soothe my thighs with shorts that breathe I pull on a mysteriously moist windbreaker And exit through an unlocked door. I inhale as though I’m breathing ice As the chilly breeze tugs sensually at my clothes And my skin tightens and purples and shivers I kick into motion with sore limbs and a dull mind And chase after the night. moreResolved Question: Should white zinfandel wine be served chilled?
Should I stick a bottle of white zin in the fridge before serving? Personally, I prefer chilled wine, but I have picky white zin guest coming over. To chill or not to chill? Also, any recommendations on which one to buy? moreResolved Question: can wine "go off" or go bad?
i went to open it and it opened so easily i think it was already open.. (screw cap, stupid new technology) i know wine can go vinegarry, but that isnt going to hurt you i guess... im wondering, if it still smells okay, is it possible for it to be bad? i dont quite know whether this bottle got opened before i put it in the fridge or if it's been opened since, and i dont want to get people sick if i put it in food or whatever. its possible its been open for months and out of the fridgeits white wine and its possible it was exposed to fairly warm weather as it was in a garage which is not insulated during warm weather moreResolved Question: How long will wine keep in the fridge before it kills me?
Its a bottle of white (yellow tale pinot grigio if it matters), and has a metal skrew top not a cork (so little exposure to air, etc). I don't actually want to drink it, just cook with it, so my only concern is that it might cause me to become sick and/or dead. Its been there for about 2 months, can I keep it 'indefinitely'? Thanks moreVoting Question: what is the price range for wolf ranges/ sub-zero fridges?
now i know that there are a lot of different models and add-on's like wine coolers, deep fryers, etc. so please be as detailed and specific as possible! p.s. not interested in agent contact info or showroom schedules :D moreResolved Question: How would you handle this etiquette?
Here's what happen: A couple months ago I made some cupcakes. I had plans later that night to go to my friends house to watch a movie. I brought 4 cupcakes thinking we'd each have one during the movie and she would have a couple left over for herself later. I arrived and handed her the plate of cupcakes. She then ate all 4 cupcakes in front of me without offering me a thing, not even a drink. Then a couple nights ago I went to her house to watch an episode of a show we both like. I brought over a bottle of wine this time. I handed it to her and she put it in her fridge (even tho it was already chilled). Half way thru the show she asked if I'd like a glass of wine. I said sure and offered to open the bottle for her. She said that she had some different wine. The wine she gave me was some cheap wine. Am I wrong to have assumed the things i brought over would be shared with me? moreResolved Question: can old, opened and corked, room temperature wine make you sick?
I have found information about one or two of these criteria (old wine, opened wine, left out for a little while, etc), but not all of them together. I have a bottle of cabernet savignon that has been half drunk and corked loosely and left out of the fridge (because my fridge is the smallest you can get and it does not fit upright) for at least a month. I didn't know wine could spoil until my friend said, "That wine's probably bad now." It still smells like wine, if a little less strong. I have heard it will lose flavor but can't make you sick. What is the truth? moreResolved Question: Going to Rome for a week, what should my food budget be?
My wife and I (and possibly our son who will be nearly a year old by that time) will be visiting Rome in mid november (found that Nov was REALLY cheap for package deals FYI) We would like to know how much we should set aside for food. About our eating habits: We will be going to Rome as part pilgrimage,, part for site seeing, and the last part TO EAT! We are not snobs though. We don't need 5 star restaurants, we prefer to eat where locals eat and eat well. I don't want any high end molecular gastronomy stuff, I want authentic Italian food. My wife never drinks, and I rarely drink during meals. If I do I'll have a glass of wine or a beer. We don't mind shopping for a picnic here and there, some cheese and a cheap bottle of wine would be nice and in keeping with our "taste Italy" theme. Our only issue with grocery shopping is, we will probably be getting a hotel and not an apartment so not having a fridge will suck. So with that helpful info, what would you guys reckon we will spend on food? moreResolved Question: You ever leave grape juice in the fridge so long, that it ferment into wine....?
Redcorn has do'ed this... think it was in there about 6 months.. Q2: What is something that you left in fridge for many, many moons that go bad...? moreResolved Question: whats diff between red wine, white wine and rose wine?
whats diff between red wine, white wine and rose wine or is any other variety on wine? also whats champaign, hw its diff from wine. and why ,,,,, whit and red wine has to be in chiller or fridge but red wine. also if any of the variety has been opened, how many days that we can use for ? thank you moreResolved Question: How long is red wine safe to drink after it's been opened?
This is sort of a follow up to the last question I gave. Now note, this isn't asking about flavor, this is simply on a health and safety sort of element. I've been storing two opened bottles of wine in my fridge for a while now. One's been in there for a month, and the other's been in there for about a week and a half, going on two. My first question of course is, whether both of these wines are still safe to drink. Meaning that if I drink them, I won't run the risk of getting sick or dying. The second question is, what exactly is the expiration date for red wine? The month old one is a Coppola Shiraz, and the two week old one is a Woodbridge Merlot, if that helps. It'd be great to know how long I can actually keep opened wine before I have to throw it away. Anyway, any input you have would be a big help. moreResolved Question: Will an uncorked bottle of wine freeze or burst if I keep it ouside in the snow?
I uncorked it and only drank half a glass, but it does not fit inside my fridge standing up and I don't want to put it on it's side. If I put it in a snow bank while it's about 15 degrees out, will it burst or freeze? Or will it change the flavor of the wine? It's a Riesling if that matters. moreResolved Question: 12 weeks pregnant an craving wine cooler?
I've had some aversions and cravings and today i was really really really craving a wine cooler!!!! I saw one in the fridge and started tasting it and wanted it soooo bad but thought NO I'M PREGNANT!!!!! My question is, is it normal to crave wine coolers? Has anyone else had this? If the doctors say you can drink a glass of wine a week while pregnant couldn't you drink a wine cooler (don't worry i didn't drink it, but I really wanted to)....? moreResolved Question: Do I store whiskey and wine in the fridge or at room temperature?
moreResolved Question: How did my Ocean Spray cranberry-pomegranate randomly become carbonated?
I drink a few gulps of cranberry-pomegranate 100% juice every day before I work out, and I never put it in the fridge. I'm on my second bottle now, and after a week without being able to work out I finally went to drink some. When I grabbed the bottle off my shelf, it was totally inflated. I opened it, and it released gas as if it was carbonated and smelled like wine. It is not near its expiration date, it wasn't in the sun, it hasn't had anything added to it, and I am just really curious as to what could have happened! haha the weather went from being in the 30's and rainy/snowy to 50s and 60s and sunny, but none of my gatorades or waters expanded so the barometric pressure change likely had no effect on it.I just am curious as to why now? It never happened to my other bottle. Also, when I shake it, it fizzes up. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wine does not do that and wine is fermented. moreVoting Question: wine expiration after opening?
after opening a bottle/box of wine how long before it spoils while being stored in the fridge moreResolved Question: I bought a bottle of Golden Gate white wine for cooking. Where do I store it?
I"m not really a big alcohol drinker and there's a 99% chance it'll just be used for cooking. This is my first time using wine BTW. Fridge? Cabinet? On the counter? I'm putting it in my sausage & peppers. moreResolved Question: Can I still breastfeed after half of a small glass of wine?
I'm staying at my mum's with my husband and three week old daughter for a couple days. With dinner I had half a small glass of wine knowing I had already expressed two bottles for my daughter. I've just been to the fridge where I left the bottles and they aren't there. The bottles were on the draining board, broken and I don't know how they got broken but they are. I don't really want to formula feed her but would it be better to formula feed her than breastfeed her after half a small glass of wine? moreResolved Question: Why does my Minute Maid fruit punch taste like wine?

About a week ago I hosted a get-together and bought too much wine. Since then, I have been chilling a prosecco (sparkling) in the fridge that I don't see myself drinking until maybe the next gathering. I need to figure out how to store it for the next few months until I'm ready to drink it. If I take it out of the fridge and let it settle back to room temperature, and then chill it again on the day I want to drink it, will it be ruined from all the changes in temperature? Thanks for your help! moreResolved Question: how long can you leave a opened bottlde of white wine out of fridge?
I opened a bottle of white wine last night & forgot to put it back in fridge. It was corked tight. Is it ok to drink now if i put it back in the fridge? It's been out for like 18 hours (my house is pretty cool - like 65 degrees) moreResolved Question: Is wine safe to drink if it's been opened, repackaged, and set at room temperature for a day or so?
I bought a bottle of Francis Ford Coppola's Syrah-Shiraz about a week ago, and unfortunately didn't have the chance to try it before I had to head back across the country. So I decided to pour the wine into a seal proof metal beverage container, wrap it in plastic and take it with me across the country. It was there in the suit case for a little more than a day, and when I got back to my place I immediately put it in the fridge. My question is, is this wine still safe to drink? or is it more likely that it's turned through the journey, and should be thrown out. I never opened the container, during any time that it's been in a room temperature environment. And so far, it's been in the fridge for 5 days. So what would you guys say, safe to drink? or better to dump? moreResolved Question: A question about food?
Ok, despite having travelled around the world for work, my husband is from a 'village' and he still has the stupid village mentality complete with wierd old wives tales remedies that he believes are the gospel, drives me insane! So in regards to food, we have constant fights about what to give or not give our 2 and a half year old. Here are his beliefs, I think they are a load of bull...what do you think? 1) In the Winter, I can never give our girl or drink myself anything from the fridge, everything has to be served at room temp, and in regards to milk, it has to be heated up. The exception is juice. Apparently she is going to get a cold if I give her milk straight from the fridge, but if she drinks juice straight from the fridge she's fine? p.s we live in Greece, not Siberia, it gets cold here, but never snows! (in my area of Greece) 2) I can't give her too much coleslaw, apparently its too hard on her stomach. And mind you we dont eat it with mayonnaise, we eat it Mediterranean style with olive oil and a mite of lemon juice or very mild wine vinegar. I think some cabbage would be great for her, she rarely eats it. Cabbage is good for all of us! 3) I can't give her pears after 6pm, too hard on her stomach before bedtime. 4) I can't give her beans when she's sick (ie soup beans) . She is sick today and he told me to pick them out before I give her vegetable soup. I mean....maybe Im wrong, but I seriously think all these 4 things are an absolute load of crap. From 1-4 what do you agree with, disagree with? She is 2 and a half. And I know both beans and cabbage are gassy foods, but she isn't a baby, and I'm not talking bowls of the stuff, I'm talking like a tiny portion to eat with her meal, not as her meal. And lentils are a gassy food too, but he has no problem her eating a full bowl of that. And the Greeks.....were.....a respected nation, because they had a strong empire, army and produced the likes of Homer and Socrates. Now is a different story however, and no these wives tales do not have any merit. One is to put tomato paste on a burn. Tomato is acidic and if anything will make a burn worse.Oh and I know my husband wants the best for our girl, and means well etc, but what upsets me is that he wont budge. He wont discuss anything, he firmly believes that he and only he is right. If the doctors don't agree with him, then they are stupid etc. I atleast try and back up my beliefs with research and the opinions of doctors. I mean its ridiculous to be arguing about beans for petes sake. Most of the time I just say yes dear, and then do what I think is best since I take more care in finding out what is right. moreVoting Question: Does white wine ever expire?
I've had this bottle of chilled wine I bought from the supermarket, and it's been sitting in my fridge for like 3 months. moreResolved Question: i am so confused how can i be this way myself......?

Ok, so I guess I am a momma's woman, but I still would like some comments. My husband and I live in a house that my mom and I purchased. My husband and I argue probably about once a week for different reasons. Either I say the wrong thing at the wrong time, or he does something that makes me feel like I am not appreciated. Of coarse he has his faults, but I can't say that they overpower his good qualities. My mom is a very strong temper person, who is always complaining , wining and bossing around (but she has an amazing heart and everything that she does is to help us out in anyway possible). She lives in NY, and when she is in town she stays with us. She has her own room on the first floor and my bedroom is on the second floor. When my husband and I argue in our bedroom, she is able to hear it. I live in a private community and for some reason when you talk in this house if you are not able to whisper, everyone might hear you. Anyway, she feels as if we are disrespecting her every time that we argue. My husband works really long hours and sometimes makes it home moody and very tired, so she feels like he doesn't want her in the house. He on the other hand feels bad about us living here because he feels that we should live in a place were no one can tell us what to do, and if we argue that no one is able to hear us and feel bad. As I mentioned before we do have problems but 95% of the times we are really happy and we want try to make our marriage work. Anyway, there was an incident two days before my mom had to go back home. My mom was joking around with him as she always does about how careless he was, ex. like when he goes to grab juice and leaves the fridge door open, how he leaves his shoes lying around the house. She plays around with him about how she doesn't know how he graduated military school and is the way that he is. So I jumped in and started to agree with her. I told him that it is weird that someone with so much training behaves the way that he does. So he asked how is that, I told him that the people I know that have gone through military training clean after themselves. So needless to say that he got upset. Two days later I mentioned to my mom that he had gotten upset at what we where saying. So she put two and two together and figured that that was the reason why he wasn't really speaking to her. She got extremely upset and started to say lots of bad things about him. I felt bad and called him up to tell him that now my mom was upset and the he had no reason to act the way he was acting because we were just playing around with him as we always do. Anyway, when we talked things out he let me know the real reason why he was upset. He said that he feels that we should live in a place where I was the woman of the house, not my mom. And where if he left things laying around, I should be the one to say something, not my mom. So he told me that we would have a better relationship if we were on our own. I agree in a way but disagree in another, but if it will help my marriage I'm all for it (besides it doesn't hurt to buy another property). So I right away found out about this place that I was interested in and went to see it. I was excited and mentioned to my mom that I had gone to see the place. So now she feels extremely bad because we want to move out, and she is making me feel really bad talking about my husband and how I am blinded by him. I try to explain things so that she doesn't see him as the bad person, so she only thinks that I am taking his side and that he is brain washing me into moving out because he wants to rule over me. I don't know what else to do. They both mean a lot to me and I don't think that it is fair for me to have to feel this way because she doesn't want to see things in a way that it is not hurtful. She's already talking about no visiting my house where ever I live because of my husband. Can you please let me know if any of them are right? moreResolved Question: Half a bottle of red wine has been sitting in the fridge for 2-3 months..?

Dada stands for Daddy Ripping and tearing, Destroying and creating, They lashed out like heathens With no absolute control or balance. Random movements of chaos Took place in Dr. Colvin’s house As his wife and children skied in French mountains of Europe. Four of them danced around the Living room in pure elation. No younger than eleven, But no older than thirteen, They tossed paintings into a Fire watching them burn as Many of the couple’s treasures Were found, located, demolished And forgotten. Valuable jewelry purchased on Occasional anniversaries and birthdays Were smashed into bits of dust. Crystals and diamonds Beaten out of their perfected form And thrown into the guest bedroom’s Toilet. Bottles of delicate wine crashed into The floor as valued years of merlot And chardonnay perished for eternity. Paint flowed from the ceiling to the floors. Walls and counter tops were redecorated With blush colors of plump reds and yellows. Not a single room was spared. being a young muslim girl, i have found a natural trait in disliking alcohol, its affects and the way in which it changes people from good to evil. for most of my life i have been observant, viewing each of my parents in different ways. my father is a man who for many years of my life now i have believed to drink alcohol on a regular basis. not that i believe he is an alcoholic, but i have always smelt it on him, and i have despised him for a long time. i once tried to tell my mother, but she never believes me. its almost as though shes blocking me out. i had a bust up with my father one day when i revealed what i were thinking to them both. i was simply shouted at and sent to my room. my father is mixed race, having a white mother, and a black father. whilst on holiday, eating, my father told me about his brother being atheist. once at his home with my brother i opened the fridge to see alcohol. shocked, i rushed back into the living room. without saying a word. i told my mum around 6 months later, as i were too afraid of the consequences. she actually believed me, which was strange. then, i found half a bottle of whisky once we had moved into our home.. actually. 3 months later. my father yet again had an excuse, and claimed it was that of one of the builders. drinking on the job? hmm. then, more ashamingly my brother found half a bottle of wine, and my father claimed to have found it in the shed. again, an excuse! then, recently, about a week ago he brought home some chocolates. (me and my father are not speaking, i fail to see him as a part of my life any longer. and my mothers still acting dumb no matter how much evidence there is.) i had a few, then looked at the ingrediants. the lindt chocolates contained champage, and licor. shocked, i told my mum. she said thank god that i noticed and stopped eating them. my father argued, saying he had thrown the alcoholic ones away. but the alcohol were an active ingrediant? wtf? he was lying. again. and my mother fell for it. i dont know what to do, i cant tell my family members, or my best friend as theyll find it all disgusting and ill be embarressed. please give me advice, i dont know what to do. it seems to be me against the world atm. moreVoting Question: I am soo starving....?

Okay i have some pasta salad in the fridge. I'm usually the type of person who is REALLY picky about how long food lasts. Like I wont even eat thanksgiving turkey like the next afternoon. BUT I made some pasta salad on christmas eve night (night of december 24th) and the ingredients it has are cooked noodles, italian dressing, red wine vinegar, diced olives, diced pepperoni, diced red & green peppers. It still looks exactly the same as it did when i made it, the peppers are still the same color. its been in a sealed container with a lid (not foil or saran wrap or anything that leaks) in the refridgerator. Is it still edible? I mean it had italian dressing in it which has oils and preservatives right? which would keep the peppers. There was a little vingar in it and and doesnt the vingar keep it all fresh? moreResolved Question: 2 week old wine...will it kill me?
I had a Christmas party 2 weeks ago and someone left a pretty big bottle of white wine in my fridge. It had well over half the bottle left and was corked back very tightly. I tried some a little while ago and it tasted "sort-of" good, but is not my usual type or brand so I can't tell if it's supposed to taste that way. Is it still good? Will I die a horrible, painful death? moreResolved Question: How to remove graphite pencil from my foot?
I need any method you can lend me to get this thing out... I have tweezors, large knives, other sized knives, there's like beers and wine in the fridge I dont know if I can use that or not (saw that in a movie), some surgical looking scissors, I have other scissors and crap and junk. I need someone to tell me how to get this thing out! This is urgent moreResolved Question: NewYears Party, What snack food is good?
I am having friends come over tomorrow night for the New Years celebration. I am just planning out what I am going to buy at the grocer. I was thinking about serving up some light snacks. Do you think this would be appropriate: I would buy 1 - 2 pound loaf of Velveeta Cheese, Make some homemade croutons as I have some iceberg lettuce in the fridge, fixins for Caesar Salad. I already have some salted premium plus crackers. I have one package of 12 wieners that I would slice up into about a 1/2 inch long to put on the crackers with a small square of the Velveeta. I have some left over Christmas candy I would put in a bowl. I also have 2 pieces of cardboard to make up New Years hats. Drinks: I am going to buy one bottle of Vodka, I have one package of Tang to mix with it. And I am going to buy one Gallon of Grape Jack wine, its on sale for $6.99 I also have some Sanka instant coffee for when my guests are finished for the night and being I don't want to be washing a bunch of cups, I have a pack of 200 styrofoam cups. Can you think of anything else? Thanks, E. moreResolved Question: What am I missing, what didn't I learn?
So I met someone new he is trying to tell me what he wants, He makes a lot of money and I am still on the unemployment line...He says he dosent mind paying but would like to see things on a regular basis happen. Like food being in my fridge, wine, me in a sexy outfit. He says he works hard and wants someone in his life to help him make it easier. One day I stayed at his house while he went to work. He got home and was pissed that I didnt clean up before I left...Like make his bed and wash the dishes, take out the garbage. I understand that our gender roles are different and I really like this guy... But hey I'm a new yorker, we're troupers... we don't have time to clean and look like sex pots for a man. i make due with what I have but I want him to be happy. Guys what am I missing here... First was offended and felt he wanted a sexy maid. But then remembered all the stuff my mom did to keep her marriage tight when she married for the 2nd time...' I don't want to miss out on love because I'm a stubborn new yorker constantly on the defense.. moreResolved Question: Need your help with kitchen redecorating! :)?
I have an older, character home. Kitchen has high ceiling with tall, white cabinets which I like. I will replace the 80's chunky, light gray porcelain handles with stainless steel bar pulls (I like a modern look). Walls are light gray with chair rail. trim is a bit darker (like regular gray) and floor is gray and white marble design linoleum. Counter top is light gray. Back splash tile is light gray with the occasional wine coloured tile. I have a sharp looking black ceiling fan with halogen lights, a black topped stove, a funky black chair and some black small appliances. I will buy a black fridge when all the painting is done. Ok.. now the questions: 1. If I keep the walls light gray, should I go lighter or darker with the trim? White trim or a darker gray? Should I keep the walls pale gray? 2. I need suggestions for colors for the ceramic tile floor. 3. Suggestions for a new counter top if I have money leftover? Any other comments you'd like to make would be super appreciated!! Thanks!! dee moreTop Wine Fridge Links
