Open Question: What to do with all this alcohol? Licensed taken away?
My dad owns a grocery store and he got his alcohol licensed suspended. Now we have so much alcohol left!! And is mess. We don't know what to do with it. Some beer companies took back their beer but we also have some wine and champagne that have been there for a year. any help would be apreciated. moreOpen Question: Why is wine taken so seriously ?
Why is wine so important ? Why isn't it considered just a beverage ? Why do some bottles sell for so much money while others at grocery stores ? Why do expensive restaurants take wine really seriously with cellars and wine experts ? How come wine is the only beverage that gets this much attention ? moreOpen Question: I'm looking for a Birthday Gift idea for my newborn child that is due in August.?
I'm an expecting father and will be welcoming a son or daughter in August, 2010. I'm trying to come up with an idea for a "gift" I can purchase from my child that will be something that they will appreciate when they are older - like 18 or 21 years old. My first idea was a bottle of wine that I can store and age for them, but I know nothing about wine and would be afraid I would end up giving them a bottle of vinegar. My next idea was to buy some stock in a company that I could give them in 20 years - but again, if I purchase company that I think could never go belly up (General Motors??),...you get my point. My latest idea is a Gold coin or two, but I thought I would ask to see if anyone has any other ideas. I really don't have a price range in mind, but lets say $1000. moreResolved Question: What is the difference between using vermouth and white wine in cooking?
I am planning to make a soup. The main ingredients are clams, tomatoes, fresh orange juice and zest, vermicelli pasta, some onion, etc. The recipe calls for vermouth. I went to the store and found only Extra Dry Vermouth, and I am wondering if this would be too bitter for a tasty soup? If I cant find regular vermouth or sweet vermouth, should I just use white wine instead? Ive never used vermouth before and would appreciate any guidance or tips on it. Thanks! moreOpen Question: What are some of the best areas to live in San Antonio.?
Hello, I am a 26 yo professional, moving to SA. I am looking for a nice neighborhood where I can find good/fine cuisine, wine bars, good shopping stores (not a mall). An area where I can feel comfortable knowing the majority of the people there are young professionals like myself. I don't have kids, so schooling doesn't matter. I would like an apartment, loft apartment rather than a house, but I am open for anything as long as the area feels right for me. I don't necessarily have to be in the city, but I will be working in downtown SA so close to it would be great. I would really appreciate any comments, suggestions, etc. Thank you!! moreResolved Question: ~~I had alcohol poisoning a few days ago.. *full story inside* HAVE SOME QUESTIONS!! answer them?~~ :]?
Hey guys and girls =) First of all this is long.. so if you dont like long stores.. dont read it! haha So anyway.. I had alcohol poisoning a few days ago and now I have some questions.. Well heres the whole story first - We had a big christmas party at this hall and there were ALOT of people there who were getting drunk (mostly older people, not teens) I ate ALOT that day. ALOT of sweets and just alot of food in general, and then well this one guy offered me some vodka. At first i said no thanks but later on when he left I wanted to try it again. I only tried it twice and that was about a year ago.. anyways i remember pouring the vodka into a empty water bottle.. Like you know a regular sized water bottle for when you work out? (about bigger than your whole hand) Anyways i remember drinking half of that little bottle and then mixing red and white wine in 1 big glass and chugging that. Then about 15 minutes later i finished the other half of the vodka. I'm 16 btw, and weigh 140 pounds. I remember getting REALLY drunk. I went to my sisters apartment who wasent there at the time, and i remember i recorded myself on camera.. i know WTF!? But anyways then i remember NOTHING. I remember falling off a chair and laughing and then i dont remember anything.. So anyways heres the rest of the story from my sister- when she walked in the bathroom where she found me lying on the floor in my own vomit. So she tried to wake me up but i didnt budge. She called 911 and they took me to the hospital. I was hospitalized for 5 hours and when i woke up I remember my Mom standing there and i thought this was a dream.. OMG can you believe how EMBARRASSED I WAS!?!? it was awful!! But anyways the doctors told me I didnt have a pulse and that i had REALLY high blood pressure and I almost died.. I was really close. So yeah.. theres the story. I know its long, but bare with me lol Anyways.. i wanted to ask you some questions.. How do i NOT get alcohol poisining next time? because i know NOTHING about safe drinking. And im talking bout like "getting drunk" safe drinking. Not like a glass of wine.. Because im sure i will be drinking in the future sometime so i really really really need some help about this. Like do you know what causes alcohol poisining the most? What can i do to avoid it? Whats some ways to get drunk without having this? Is mixing drinks okay? THANK YOU SOO MUCH! and sorry its so long xDD moreVoting Question: Why is my dad such a horrible drunk?
On the way home today, I slipped over (Its been snowing a lot), and I hurt my ankle, so I get home to see the house is empty. I wait about 2 hours for my dad to arrive back home drunk. This annoys me in a few ways. 1 - When we were at the stores he saw a deal on wine and said to me, if I buy these it will stop me from going to the pub. 2 - He can't afford £5 worth of clay for my school work, but he can afford enough pints to get drunk at least 4 days a week. 3 - Today, I had to cook a pie at school, and as I said before I slipped therefore the pie pretty much became a mess, yet this morning I was under the illusion that my dad said he would pick me up from school in the car, not be at the pub. He also annoys me from the fact that I ditched half my family to go and live with him, and he treats me like crap. moreResolved Question: What would you name a store that only sold empty wine bottles ?
moreVoting Question: Invited to a wine tasting party and must bring a bottle. What should I bring?
I don't want to make a fool out of myself and bring a bottle that only a wino would drink. Also don't want to spend a fortune. Any suggestions? Can I go to the local Safeway and just choose a bottle? Or must I go to a liquor store? moreResolved Question: Is it possible to become allergic to alcohol?
Two years ago, I turned 21. I celebrated the year going out with friends, tried all kinds of shots, bought beer and wine at the grocery store, and in general had a lot of fun. Once in a while when I'd be out partying, I'd have 7 or 8 drinks in a night, or completely lose track. Usually I'd be fine the next day. Only very rarely did I ever have a hangover. I continued to drink when I was 22, though not quite as much. The novelty had kind of worn off. Still, whenever I did drink anything, it never gave me any trouble. But lately, something seems to have changed, and I'm wondering what it is. I noticed it first one night when I was over at my boyfriend's house, and he had bought my favorite kind of beer. I couldn't even get through one beer before I had a headache and felt sick. I spent the rest of the night drinking water, and nearly puked before falling asleep. I've tried to have a beer on a few other occasions since then and have not been able to finish any of them. I thought it might just be the beer giving me trouble, so the next time my boyfriend and I went out, I ordered my favorite mixed drink. When it came, I took a few sips and just felt the alcohol hit me. He asked if I liked it, and I told him it was way too strong. He tried it and couldn't taste the alcohol at all. (Which is how that drink used to be for me, one reason why I like it.) At home, I used to enjoy a glass of wine with dinner once in a while. A few days ago, I tried to have one, but after just a few sips I felt the headache coming on. I ended up just spilling it down the drain. Determined to get myself out of whatever this is, I tried to have a Mike's Hard Lemonade tonight. I drank about a fourth of it and have the edge of a headache. And I could taste the alcohol. What on earth is this? Have I become allergic to alcohol, or is this all just in my head? moreResolved Question: Crush on younger guy leads to date on Friday. Should I....?
I have had this crush on a guy who is quite a few years younger then I. I never considered hanging out with him because Im 42 and hes 21. He carries my groceries and walks with me to the store whenever he sees me leave the building. He gets alot of attention from the ladies, especially those his age. Im so far out of his age bracket. Last night he saw me and we began to talk. I had been sipping wine and was a little tipsy. He kissed me. I returned the kiss. I felt like like heaven had opens up and bestowed all its blessing upon me. Anyway....we have made plans to have sex on Friday. Heres my question: Should I have sex with him knowing its going to completely drive me insane about him or Don't do it, hes just flattered by the attention of an older woman and I will feel rejected when he no longer wants to "play"No one is expecting a relationship. He nor I. Its more of a lust thing. moreResolved Question: Anyone else live in eureka? 6.5 earthquake?

While you are thinking, this the list I have compiled in my notepad of what I would do: To the guy caught cheating red-handed: -I would clean out his bank account and penny jar -sell all of his belongings on craigslist and ebay -Force him to smash his testicles with hammers -back-slap him as hard as I can across his face with both of my fists wrapped in broken sharp glass, cement glue, and 70% rubbing alcohol purchased from Walmart and then rub hot pink permanent hair coloring on the bruises -Open multiple credit cards and loans in his name and spend all of the money I had won, go on a cruise, red wine and cigarettes, and donate to charitable events -Auction off the house and car, and then place rat droppings in his cereal mix To the mistress I would do the following: -Also back-slap her as hard as I can across her face and back multiple times with both of my fists wrapped with broken sharp glass and 70% rubbing alcohol, cement glue, and ammonia and bleach purchased from Walgreens (...for ammonia maybe I'll order from ebay) -And then rub vomit green permanent hair coloring on her bruises -Remove all of her savings from her bank account and go on multiple shopping sprees -Purchase authentic battery acid from alibaba.com and melt her face and one of her eyes (she will have to wear an eye patch), and on her scalp thus having permanent multiple bald spots -Open credit cards and loans in her name and spend all of the money I had won, go on a cruise, and donate to charitable events -Embezzle money from her job and wire it to her bank account, and then anonymously notify her job so that she will have to go to prison for 20 to 30 years plus probation -And burn her house down with gasoline and matches (starting from the kitchen) while she is away at the grocery store well...that's all I can think of so far, but I still have to fill up the whole page (I know this list will offend some, but it is just a joke...or is it?)@JOHN: I'm Egyptian you low-life lil' bastard (adult swim)..I see someone has done these things to you already..lol hermaphrodite redneck@ JC: I like your style. let me know if you need me to "fix" those little cheater biotches for you.@Wizard your quite wise and kind, unfortunately for me I may like revenge too much? @Been There Done That, good job for you! that's what I'm talking about @JC yep, your at the south Im at the north cool! much of luck moreResolved Question: riverboat red wine from Missouri?

Salamun aleikum. There have been a lot of questions about Halal meat and I am not too sure about it myself. I was raised in a shia state and only zabiha meat is halal. (Zabiha is when it’s slaughtered facing the Ka’ba and with a bismillah). Now in America most Muslims I am around are Sunni, the majority of which eat non-zabiha meat (from fast-food places and grocery stores) So I am unclear about this but I did some research this is what I came up with from the Qur’an. “ Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah, that which hath been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by being gored to death; that which hath been (partly) eaten by a wild animal……” (Al-maeda: 2). Killing by a violent blow I’m pretty sure refers to being killed by a gun or of the sort. Basically any cruel or violent way. Which practically all meats in the west are gotten. They hang cows (alive!) from the ceiling and steam them to death over 15 minutes…. Verse 4: “This day are (all) things good and pure made lawful unto you. The food of the People of the Book is lawful unto you and yours is lawful unto them……” (Al-maeda: 4) So, a lot of my friends who eat non-zabiha point to this aye above and say, “See their food is lawful to us so we can eat it” But to me that doesn’t make sense on the meat part. Because yes that aye does say their food is lawful but does that make their pork or their wine lawful too? No So with the same ruling I say, see here in the quran it says Pork is haram and here it says meat killed in a violent blow is haram so regardless of being food of people of the book or not it’s still haram! But I think we can eat Kosher meat maybe because I don’t think animals Koshered are killed in a brutal way and they are killed with the name of God. So from my conclusion it seems we cannot eat the meat of the people of the book that are killed in brutal ways? So basically stick with Halal? If this isn’t correct please enlighten me Because this has confused me for a while. Jazakallah khairoh yea and I decided to stay on Y!A :DNa2sa can you explain to me why there is not distinction between muslim and jew.christian meat? aye 2 says you cannot eat it if it's killed in a brutal way. doesn't that matter? can you give me a more clear explanation with sources? Also, i don't always follow all laws of shias or sunni. I follow which laws make more sense. so in this case neither the Shia or Sunni quite does it for me. moreResolved Question: What are ten of the best vinyl record stores in the UK?
Having been to the Amoeba Records in San Francisco and Los Angeles and been amazed by the selection of vinyl LPs available, I was wondering whether the UK has any record shops that even come close to these two stores. I live in Manchester and Vinyl Exchange appears to be the best the North West has to offer. I'm interested in most genres of music, but I'm not interested in stores focused on Rap/Hip-Hop, Dance or House. Some of the stuff I'm interested in buying; Journey, The Clash, Audioslave, Iron & Wine, Death Cab for Cutie, The Cure, Interpol To name but a few. I know a lot of these LPS are available on vinyl online, but there's nothing like a good record shop in my opinion! Having said that, any online stores (obviously other than ebay and amazon) would be welcome too Thanks! moreResolved Question: Do you think Indiana should change the "no alcohol sold on Sundays" law?
Right now, they are talking about changing a law in Indiana, making it possible to buy beer, liquor, and wine on Sundays. If you disagree with this new law, could you please post your reasons. Thank you for your time. moreVoting Question: What constitutes an alcoholic. Is my mom considered one.?

Everytime she drinks that much in the evening, she gets very iritable, and a little out of tune with reality. She tried quiting drinking several times but she said to my dad a few times after she attempted "You have to go to the store, I got to have a glass of wine." Anyways I decided to buy them online cuz I can't realy go to Edmonton cuz my younger siblings will complain and wine the whole entire time and it would drive my parents nuts. Trust me they tried to take them to west Ed but it didn't realy work out. So how do I convince my mom to let me use her credit card so I can buy the super cute shirts I want. I already asked her once and I told her that I would pay every single penny that the shipping fee gst price of clothing would cost etc and all she did was making a very lame excuse that I have too many clothes. But it is only like 3 shirts and iwojld pay every thing. Or that Im just wasting my own money. But I'm not I have like hundreds of dollars. And so on. And allof them are from the clearence section with the standard shipping. I was just gonna head down to the Lee's Liquors here and guess, but thought I'd throw this out there first. moreResolved Question: Where to find wines in my area?

Here are the ingredients for the recipe: 1/2 cup all-purpose flour salt and pepper to taste 4 bone-in pork loin chops, 1 inch thick 2 tablespoons butter 1/4 cup cider vinegar 1/3 cup maple syrup 1 tablespoon cornstarch 3 tablespoons water 2/3 cup packed brown sugar Thanks an advance for all the help!
